4 Women are legally equal with males, and domestic violence, sexual crimes and sexism are strongly cracked down on, but most believe that if a woman is married and does not have a job she should be doing all of the cleaning and cooking. Having kids. have a drink, cigar/pipe/cigarette and newspaper ready for her husband when he comes home and sits down to wait shortly for dinner to be done and ready. Classic 50s/60s housewife stuff. This is not a law just a social trend among married couples.

Dagnia is a somewhat traditional society, but does not fit into any of the categories you list. In all legal and political matters, women are the equals of men. Government institutions, including the military, are meritocracies where one succeeds by meeting certain standards. Women may be underrepresented in some of these areas because they have less ability to do certain things like heavy lifting or long marches. They have the same right to vote, own property and hold jobs.

Socially, gender roles are clearly defined, though not strictly adhered to. Strong women, especially in business, are greatly admired. You won't find many women in hard or unpleasant work since things like mining, guarding prisons or maintaining high-voltage power lines are left to men and an ethic best described as chivalry won't allow men to put a woman in danger. Also, in schools that use corporal punishment not a single one allows girls to be paddled or caned, only stress positions may be used. Men who hit their wives are ostracized and very often prosecuted, but men who are hit by their wives are subject to ridicule. Abortion is still an unsettled issue, though recently Dagnia has moved in a decidedly pro-life direction.

The British Empire ranks as a number 4 on the scale, as the government and law make no distinction between either gender. Due to our policy on True Gender Equality, introduced in 1946, women are virtually equal to men, and superiority or inferiority of one over the other is rather nonexistent within modern British society. For example, women earn basically the same pay and benefits as their male counterparts, women can join the military and take on roles that men typically take, and women are subject to the same rights, privileges, and punishments for committing crimes as men are, et cetera.

The only true distinction seen by law is within public toilet separation. Men cannot use the toilet and wash facilities reserved for women, and vice versa, or could face fines and sexual assault charges.

There are some biases for either side, of course due to tradition and culture, but these are mostly minor, personal-level prejudices.
