A very old law we are working on removing is the law that makes it illegal to draw a picture of a point nearest to a star in the path of a body orbiting that star.
It doesn't even make sense why that would be illegal. Or how it passed.

In Gandoor, it's still illegal to protest within 500 feet of the monarch. Should be stated that we haven't had a monarch since 1902 and we switched to the metric system in the 1950's.

In Harrisville, it is illegal for anybody, no matter what the age, to have intercourse with a condom. That may explain our population explosion in recent years....but nah, couldn't possibly.

You can't destroy nothing.

Or, to more accurately describe the law, it is illegal to destroy absolute nothingness without proper authorization. It's not "don't fill a vacuum", it's "don't destroy the fabric of spacetime in a given space". It's due to various overlaps of unrelated regulations in a massive bureaucracy. It hasn't been removed because it's a great thing to joke about and doesn't harm anything.

IC Info: TL;DR verson of Nekronia: Authoritarian government with elements of the USSR and national socialism. Everyone works for the government, and buys from the government, obsoleting taxes as the money does not leave the country, save for government buying of items of foreign nations. Military is advanced but unconventional, focusing on infantry and psychological warfare. Primary method of national income is export of armaments and other war-related items.

In Greater Bacteria all buildings that host government business (courts, municipal buildings, and even the State Palace) are required to have a fully stocked bar. In the case of bar shortage government must be suspended until full service can be restored.

Due to Vetalia's importance as one of the world's major growers and exporters of raw tobacco, cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco, public smoking bans and other restrictions on the use of tobacco are expressly forbidden. 70% of Vetalian adults smoke or consume tobacco in any form so it's good for the domestic market as well.

Playing Minecraft is compulsory, violators, criticisers of Minecraft and people who simply says it sucks are all brainwashed into playing it. People who are found immune to brainwashing are shot immediately.
Disliking Code Geass will get you shot.
Disliking Attack On Titan will get you in jail.
Most punishments are the method of "brainwashing", that is forcing you to watch mentally purifying videos, with awesome brainwashing music for dozens of hours. Sometimes we use 1984 methods to force you believe Minecraft is the best game ever. Most people become loyal citizens after around 48 hours of the process; some who are found to be immune, will be shot.
Other than these described above, we are a libertarian democratic market socialist society with everyone loving their nation and works hard for it.
(In fact in our universe, around 2084 there is no other video game that exists.)

I am conscious of the difference between 'Britain', 'England' and 'United Kingdom'. In my timeline, the word 'Britain' is used to refer to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in which my nation is based on.

In Kazirstan, it is illegal to maintain excessive eye contact with the Emperor, excessive being considered over 3 seconds uninterrupted. What's even stranger is that the Empire, and by extension, the Emperor, was abolished in 1849, but, inexplicably, the law remains.

There are many many laws that are considered strange around the monarchy. No one but the emperor can wear purple, no one else can be addressed by the royal pronouns, no one can celebrate their birthday on the king's birthday, and no one be applauded for except the emperor.

In all towns in District 29, Wright; watering your lawn (or anybody else's lawn) when it's raining could fine residents a good 20 checks. The Board of Ministers of Wright had issued this law to Northern San Henry as of June 21, 2014, and it has been approved by the Kingdom Council on June 23, 2014. When you suddenly realize why this law was made, it will become less strange and more sense making. It was created to reduce the amount of unnecessary usage of water. Why bother water the grass when the rain is here to do the work for you?

In the lordom of Denver, it's illegal to drive any vehicle blindfolded. It was made to decrease the risk of getting injured when it's the citizens' own faults from unsteady driving. The law was issued by the Board of Ministers of Denver to the Castle in Northen San Henry on May 19, 2009, and was approved by the Kingdom Council on May 24, 2009.

It is unlawful to be within fifty meters of our Military Overseer when she is eating someone something. This is mainly a precaution and not a law, though. As, she is known to be agressive if she thinks that anyone is trying to steal her food.
