What did you base your nation on?

Anywho, where did you get your insperation for making your nation? What real life (or fictional) country is it based off?

My nation is based off of the Terran Republic from Planetside, Caesers Legion from Fallout, Nazi germany (Wolfenstein timeline), Greece, and Imperial Russia.

This should be an F&NI thread.

To answer the main question, the nation name says 99% of it. Decepticons - who won, first against the Autobots, and then against all of Earth. For the other 1%, I'll add: The G1 Decepticons are the ones referenced.

Also, in early G1, the Decepticons all could fly and none of the Autobots could (unless you count Omega Supreme, but big as he is, he's still just one bot). IRL a force with that kind of air superiority (combined with the ability to instantly put boots on the ground just by transforming and landing) is going to win, period. It had been irking me that they showed a ground-only force managing to win when there's no way in hell that'd ever happen...and then I remembered that NationStates is a thing.

As for this nation starting out Victorious? Wonderful serendipity. All of the Decepticon-related names I thought of first were taken. It's been much more fun with the Victory being canonical history, since this way, I can focus on the details of how a Decepticon society would be if there was no war going on.

The rest of it... My FT nation is based on a lot of things; steampunk songs are referenced, as are a number of other factors - Shadowrun and the like contributed, as did Hyperion, and I stole some of their tech from Mechwarrior/Battletech. The other's far less defined.
