Legal but looked down upon. Most of the time prostitutes, or 'Intimate Therapists' as some call them, work in buildings full of offices and bedrooms.

Prostitution is illegal nationally; however one District(Onaoi) legalized and regulates brothel prostitution at a local level. They can still be charged by the National Gendarmerie for a Federal Offence

Highly taxed for the female prostitutes, low taxed for the male. Highly regulated and prohibited in places.

It's not only legal, but considered one of the bedrocks of the economy, employing about 4% of the sapient workforce, and 14% of the changeling workforce.

In New Chelel, prostitution is not only legal, but considered to be one of the more respectable professions. In addtion to their "nominal role", many courtesans serve as a temporary workforce that can be hired or deployed as temporary domestic staff for large parties, personal aides, educators (by tradition, the regular private schools don't teach sex ed), or camp followers during wartime. The Guild of Flowers, the largest such organization, holds a permanent seat in the lower house of the high council.
Please read this before deciding to include New Chelel in any roleplay.

Street prostitution is illegal. So is panhandling, dancing, singing and so on for money when on the street. You can, however, do all of this in a park, square or alley. Just specifically not on the street or the sidewalk. It is considered to impede the swift flow of traffic.

Brothels are legal and very common, usually also operating as (or as part of) theaters, strip clubs, taverns and/or inns. Most have periodic shows, which range from simple stripping to the performance of various plays of varying seriousness. Some prostitutes also do not need a room to have sex, happily getting it on right on the customer's table. This is not considered odd. In fact, the average brothel charges a small admission fee due to a high number of individuals content to simply watch (be it the shows on the stage or the 'shows' on the tables) rather than participate.
Also of note is the balanced gender ratio of most brothels, with both male and female prostitutes being present.

Prostitution and brothels are legal and regulated by the state meaning that sex workers are regularly monitored to check for sexually-transmitted diseases, there is a set of government rules to provide for a safe workplace and prostitutes and brothel-owners are taxed on their income like any other citizens. However, sex workers are discriminated against by the Sebastianbourger which deems them to be dishonourable.

Prostitution or any other form of direct involvement in the sex industry is considered a disreputable trade unbecoming of a true Sidh, so Sidhae are forbidden from prostituting themselves, partaking in the commercial production of pornography or directly profiting from any of the said industries under pain of losing their Sidh status, i.e., being cast out of Sidh society. For this reason, prostitution and all other aspects of the sex industry are exclusively a human domain.

Using the services of prostitutes, or charging "protection money" from sex businesses, however, is permitted, if frowned upon.

Since the Imperial authorities only intervene in human affairs when it concerns Sidh citizens or Imperial interests, sex industry that thrives in the human ghettos is practically unregulated and restricted only by the moral reservations of service providers. Paedophiles, zoophiles, sadists and other -philes and -ists are all able to find someone who caters to their tastes, provided they can offer the right price.

The upper-class brothels are frequented by Sidh patrons as well as well-off humans. Given the detrimental effect such visits would have on their reputation if discovered, Sidh customers especially of higher social status require discretion from the brothel keepers. Indiscretion and leakage of information about customers tends to be bad for business - especially because disgraced Sidh customers tend to return with a few friends armed to the teeth and shoot the place up with complete disregard for casualties or collateral damage. Lower-class establishments which cater to human clientelle have less need for such measures, merely requiring some muscle to keep competing businesses from hampering their operation and ensure the customers pay up their due.
Freedom doesn't mean being able to do as one please, but rather not to do as one doesn't please.

A fool sees religion as the truth. A smart man sees religion as a lie. A ruler sees religion as a useful tool.

The more God in one's mouth, the less in one's heart.

National Brothel Company
Slogan: Liberate Yourself
State Owned
The National Brothel Company is a nationalized company which controls all the legal sex works in the country.Any legal sex worker in CTALNH is an employee of the NBC and is protected by the government. The NBC has its employees in bars and strip clubs which have made deals with the NBC. To work for this company you must be 16 years or older, have citizenship of the country, and have no sexually transmitted diseases. Once you have the job you are given a license to show the police and customer that you a legal prostitute. Also frequent check ups are done to ensure that you do not have STD's.

Each sex worker is tested for HIV and other STD's. After that they are asked many questions such as if they are fine with threesome's, kinky stuff and the like. Depending on there answers they will only be licensed for what they wish to do but they have to at least be comfortable with intercourse. When someone gets a sex worker at the bar or hotel or some licensed area then the clerk asks what type of services they want. Depending on what they say they will get a certain girl or guy that is fine with that type of stuff. If the rules are not followed the sex worker can say that they were forced to work a sex job which they were not licensed to do. The clerk/business can be arrested by the police and sued by the National Brothel Company. In the end these licenses and specific sex services of the sex workers ensure they are not being abused as traditional gang prostitutes are.

Pimping is illegal.

Licenses:
Certain sex workers do not want to perform certain acts while others will preform those specific acts. Therefore each sex worker has a license which basically tells any NBC person or police officer what they are willing to do. Therefore if the police look at the licence and put it through there computer database and find out that the sex worker was doing something that they did not give consent to via the license then the police know there is an issue. There are many different categories place in one persons license and digital profile, way to many to name. However some include threesome, bisexual threesome, lesbian and many more different licenses.

Legal but regulated.
All brothels, escort agencies and freelancers must be registered with the government and be recognized by the government as an "official" prostitute.
They also have to attend regular health checks, if they fail their recognisition gets revoked.

Prostitution where people are forced into the protitution industry is highly illegal. This so called "black market protitution" is hunted down by a special police department. If the instigators of this kind of prostitution (pimps, etc...) are caught they will face a serious sentence.

Prostitution is no longer needed in Syndicapolis. Everyone has access to the means to life and those who do not perform socially necessary labour and keep refusing to are ostracised and not permitted to use communal services. Everyone has equal opportunity, so no one is forced to sell their bodies. If anyone wants to have sex with anyone else and both/all parties consent, they are perfectly free to, and there is no stigma surrounding sexual activity of any sort. So a combination of free association and equality have eradicated prostitution.

Well the government is mute on the issue. No woman is so poor she needs to sell herself to survive or even do something like pay for university. You need to understand our society. We do not have that much wealth inequality but we are far from egalitarian in other views and a little extra cash goes a long way.
Some men, like distinguished police officers, are highly esteemed because they helped us wipe out the horrendous drug trade, right after our leader, Marshal Galich, came to power.
So they are a little power crazy and so they spend all their extra cash on three or four concubines. Now we couldn`t really call it prostitution but we have a word for it, sponzorusha. So they just mooch of this one guy, have sex with him and walk around in public with him. They change sponsors but not that often.
