About the only French stuff we have here are baguette breads, French fries, and white flags. :lol2:

This means, of course, that French is not spoken in this country, not because of any deliberate action, but simply because we have no linguistic or historical ties to France.

Does French have official or co-official status in your nation?
Yes. French is co-official alongside Spanish. Inyurstan and English are the official languages.

Is French considered important in your nation?
Yes, historically, culturally and as far as a semi-francophone nation.

What percent of your people speak French?
Native 10 - 20%, Learned 30 - 60%. It is hard to measure because some communities naturally speak French at home and English and Inyurstan in public.
However, it should be noted that Inyurstan(ENG)/Inyurstan(YN)/Inyurstes(FR)/Inyurstano(SP) is basically a creole hybrid of mostly French and Spanish origins, with Portuguese, English and it's own words mixed in sporadically.

How popular is French as a learned foreign language?
Quite popular. French is considered one of the "Big Four" languages in Inyursta (the others being previously mentioned.

It's not French,it's not Spanish,it's Inyurstan
"Inyourfaceistan" refers to my player/user name, "Inyursta" is my IC name. NOT INYURSTAN. IF YOU CALL INYURSTA "INYURSTAN" THEN IT SHOWS THAT YOU CANT READ. Just refer to me as IYF or Stan.

Does French have official or co-official status in your nation?
No.

Is French considered important in your nation?
Not really.

What percent of your people speak French?
Less than 5% can be considered fluent in spoken French. A somewhat larger percent can be considered fluent in written, and maybe about 20% can comprehend written French at a level of machine translation or better without a computer present.

How popular is French as a learned foreign language?
Mildly popular: Its similarity to the more commonly studied Spanish means that it is quick to pick up on the side. Due to our cultural distaste for physical speech, most will read a foreign language better than they speak it, as few opportunities to practice exist.
