If you take the official government claim that it is the very first civilization to emerge in its plane of reality as fact, Traekun has existed in some form or another for at minimum 5,000 years and at maximum 15,000 years.

More conservative estimates have been made by some archeologists based on Traekun relics found in several destroyed cities, which would place the age at a more modest 1,500 to 2,000 years.

The histories of the peoples that inhabit the Irkallan lands under the flag of the commune are as varied as they rich, with many reaching back into the fog of pre-history. The ages of the many nations, empires, tribes, city states, colonies, and societies under the thumb of Gothic rule ranged from infantile, to venerable at their times of absorption. The karasite Islands for example, home to a now fallen empire that shared its namesake had a documented history spanning nearly 12 thousand years before the death of the last Emperor 260 years ago, where as all the entire population inhabiting the now colonized Isle of Dread only took up residence upon that continent some 40 years ago. The tribes of the Gondwanan Basin meanwhile, an exiled people made up of escaped former fintian slaves; were never an officially recognized nation outside of The Eric and New Gothland to begin with, even up until they were absorbed into the Commune. Their oral historical traditions however, those they managed to preserve through their enslavement and thus revive after are some of the oldest in the whole of Irkalla. Then there are the tribes of Rhodnina, who first set foot on the continent sometime around 75,000 BC, but who has subsequently lost many of their older traditions through thousands of years of warfare, conquest, and even for a time, exile. It is difficult to talk about the age of the nation without first recognizing this, the ages of its peoples, as this very much effects and influences the over all national identity of the commues. Be it on the Karasite Islands with their almost 12 thousand years and more of documented history, or The Isle of Dread with its 40. New Gothland as it stands today as a nation is only a little over 160 years old in its current incarnation, and 260 years old as a unified country, but to call the nation or any of its people truly young or truly old would be foolish.It is a young nation with old hearts. And could not be summarized on this subject any better.
