Yukonastan does administer the death penalty, for severe crimes. These crimes include murder of the first degree, treason, and rape causing massive debilitation or death.

The system is fairly morbid, since the accused decides exactly how to die.

The options are:
Firing squad, with Y26A1 battle rifles.
One in the back of the head in a wooded area, with a Caracal.
Sawn in half with a GAU19.
Gassed by your choice of: Carbon monoxide, Chlorine, Cyanide, Nitrogen
Lethal injection
Immolation
Drowning
Hanging
Beheading
Fed to starved wolves
Electrocuted in any one of a number of ways, featuring at times 66kV and 2kA of power.

However, for high treason, only one punishment is considered satisfactory, and it is a fate worse than death. The accused is taken into a cage, then bitten by a werewolf. As soon as the first shift is complete, the new werewolf is left in the cage, considered to be below the pack omega, undergoing psychological torment that makes waterboarding look like a summer vacation activity. This goes on for a month, after which the accused is released into a reserve, to live like an animal, while being hunted. After a month of this, back in the cage again, with psychological torture continuing unabated. If they last the month, they are then banished to the north.

A popular way, if it can be called popular, is the firing squad. The accused is tied to a pole, without a blindfold, and looks at his executioners.
This is considered the most honourable way.

Another method of execution, that got into the news recently, after a neo-Nazi death row inmate devised it, is digging your own grave in a forest, then being shot in the back of the head. This one is a fairly new one as a result, and isn't listed in whole above.

Executions are of course public, and decapitation is the standard; however truly heinous crimes elicit some form of torturous death.
The worst form of execution is the ritual known as the "Blood Eagle"; this ritual condemns the victims soul to Niffleheim the cold realm of the dishonored dead. The Blood eagle consists of the cutting on the sides or under the shoulder blades, then breaking the ribs in order to remove the lungs and throwing them over the shoulders so that they may fly down to Hel's halls on the fluttering wings of their last dying breath.

Execution is not practised within Ruskarkand when it comes to its own denizens. However, captured trespassers and smugglers are - and if their crime is weighed up to be worthy of Capital Punishment, then there is a small array of methods, only of which one is deemed worthy dependant on the crime committed.

This could be restraint in public, followed by 20 lashes of a whip across the back and leaving them to bleed and suffer heatstroke from the glaring mid-day sun.
Or slow immolation by being restrained and lowered onto a heated bed of burning coals.
Heck, sometimes even straight up execution is foregone in favour of making the guilty fight in a Colosseum.

The only punishable by death crime currently in Ontorisa is High Treason (a high ranking politician, general, government official, etc. conspiring with a foreign nation about the national security of Ontorisa).

The punishment is death by a firing squad (who uses the ceremonial rifle, the Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1, from World War 2). The execution takes two days, one day for the person to be executed to enjoy his last day of life (talking with family, praying if he has a religion, eating a good meal and basically having a good day), the second day being the final trial (where the person to be executed is read to why he is being executed, who shall inherit his belongings and such) before being executed.

Ontorisa does not like using executions but High Treason is an extremely bad offence and thus it must be treated the same way.

For a standard execution, the convict is flayed and gutted while alive - but only if they admitted to performing the crime. This forces most of the prosecuted to plead innocent, which helps keep innocent people from pleading guilty to get a better sentence. The method those who plead innocent get is their choice of firing squad, an endless stint in a military penal corps, or becoming a permanent blood/medical donor for the medical industry. The final two options allow freedom at a later date if the person is declared innocent after the fact.
