I fully understand the erosion problem with high-power guns, and it's a drawback I'm perfectly willing to accept, due to the ease with which missiles can be swatted from the sky.

theyre no easier to hard-kill, often harder, and some are immune to most soft-kill measures

theyre just bigger

Even if you like guns you do not need a "magnum" propellant charge. It is far more efficient to make the bore bigger.

EDIT: Okay, the wording on that sucked.
I'd rather use a large powder charge and deal with slightly increased barrel erosion than deal with losses of velocity and overall performance by having a larger bore with a similarly-sized charge.

Crew: 3 - Commander, Gunner, Driver
Dimensions and weight
Weight: 60 tonnes
Length: 8.2m (10.5m with gun forwards)
Width: 3.5m
Height: 2.3m to turret roof.

Armament
Main armament: 125 mm L50 smoothbore fed by bustle autoloader
Secondary armament: Coaxial dual feed 20 mm, 7×43 mm RWS
Elevation range: ___
Traverse range: 360 degrees
Ammunition load:
Main armament: 26 rounds in bustle autoloader with another 26 rounds in the hull in two isolated compartment behind the turret
Secondary armament: 2 x 200 rounds of 20mm (dual feed), 5 x 200 round box mags of 7×43 mm

Mobility
Engine: 1,500 hp MTU MT 883 diesel engine
Maximum speed: 72kmh
Range: ____km

It can now Carry 26 rounds in the autoloader with another 26 (2x13 round ammo racks) in the hull behind the turret.

I have also done a quick estimate for the amount of fuel carried:
Fuel tanks either side of the driver: ~1500 litres (this is probably good enough on its own)
Fuel tanks in over-track sponsons: ~925 litres (This isnt using the entire sponson)
Total: ~ 2425 litres

You have it backwards. You would gain velocity if you made the bore larger because the overall ballistic efficiency of the gun would rise. Larger bore = more area for the propellant to act on = more efficient transfer of momentum from the propellant to the shell.

A "magnum" charge gains power at the expense of efficiency.

http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/stingray.htm

These things work well enough. There is something of an unsolved problem when it comes to detecting the retroreflection of optics in an urban environment, but the general principle of using a laser to detect an optical device then burning the operators eyes out (or even destroying the optics physically, if you have a big enough laser) is sound. A number of armies currently use "sniper detection" systems that are functionally identical sans blinding. The threat is real enough that US military optical systems already have basic laser protection countermeasures installed.

Being able to detect an optical system is a very appealing capability to all branches of the military, the police and anyone responsible for security in general so there is a lot of work in the field. Particularly when it comes to detecting optics reliably in a cluttered urban environment. DARPAs MEDUSA program is probably the most sophisticated and it is intended to lay the groundwork for a new generation of pro-active infrared countermeasures that can detect and attack threats before they fire (with the ultimate aim of "reclaiming" low altitude airspace) but they are certainly not the only ones interested in the technology. Canada has done a lot of work on various permutations of the concept, including a very promising but obscure system that can counter beamriding ATGMs, investigating the use of multiple wavelengths to reduce false alarms and a rather nifty system that tried to automatically identify and search the areas of terrain that snipers were likely to be found. Currently the Canadian navy has contracted EADS to install a comprehensive laser countermeasure system called LOCATES on their vessels based on this work, very little information is available on it though.
