Well. Our government resembles the RL Weimar government with just a few differences.

Firstly, our Reichstag is much smaller, at only 22 members, than the RL Reichstag, with special favours given to cities, which receive somewhat better representation compared to the countryside. City people tend to be better informed than rural folks, so we give them more power. This is also why Nazis didn't get more than 1 seat in the 1933 general election. Our Reichsrat is even smaller compared to the Reichstag, at only 10 members, representing our 9 Laender, with the vice-president of the republic being ex-officio the 10th member.

Secondly, our federal government is comparatively weak compared to the RL incarnation. Most things are left to the individual states to determine.

The Reichskanzler, holding domestic executive power, is also responsible to the Reichstag, not to the Reichspraesident. This makes stable government more likely to form. The Reichspraesident is also elected by the Reichsrat, not by the public, and holds very little power. It's a miracle that the Reich hasn't disintegrated yet, but we manage. :p

Our Parliament has two houses. The First House is elected by First Past the Post, with 100 members and thinks up the laws, and small parties don't have many members due to the voting system. The Second House also has 100 members but they only block or allow through laws and are voted by PR. with 1% of the vote equalling 1% of the seats. If a law is filibustered for two weeks, Queen Yocasta can block it or put it through using a royal decree.

Nidemark is in essence a confederal monarchy. Each of the different provinces (lands) within the kingdom make their own laws and maintain all of their own services and armed forces, though in the name of the king. The king himself is elected by representatives of the three lands of Nide (the heartlands and power centre of the realm), mostly noblemen but also including commoners. The king is then 'ratified' by the other lands of the kingdom and only then is considered the king.

There is no constitution or much in the way of formal law, instead courts rely on praxis and common law. The king can issue edicts and treaties which must be ratified by the lands. It's common for the king to use his control over the armies in order to "convince" the various local lords to conform, though it is of course a delicate balance.

Basically, its run by the military and the upper echelon of air marshals and admirals (the 5 voted in final decision makers) make the decisions after the denizens vote for which admiral/air Marshall will be appointed one of the 5 roles. After that, the 5 leading officers determine the best course of action after discussions with the other senior ranking officers. (note, there are technically no political parties. The 5 members are voted in based solely on their individual beliefs)

It's a massive meritocratic bureaucracy that is ultimately run by a nonhereditary absolute monarch, but is generally viewed as a benevolent dictator due to the lack of bloodlines and many foreigners not understanding that not all monarchies are hereditary.

Have some music while we give everyone wristcramps from all the bureaucracy-related paperwork.

Officially, Aurinsula is a modern constitutional democratic republic. The citizens have a wide array of civil rights generally comparable to those of peoples in other countries, and people are free to vote in elections without coercion or miscounting. At the same time, one of the major parties is so good at winning elections - and has generally rigged the system in its favor, through malapportionment, gerrymandering, and other mean voting tricks, and otherwise bending the rules as much as possible without outright breaking them - that Aurinsula functions in practice as a one-party autocracy. Thus, Aurinsula has two distinct governments working side-by-side - the national civil government, and the internal mechanisms of the ruling party.

The party has a culture of collective leadership; the top people in the country regularly consult each other on matters of importance. This leads to a kind of syndicalist or corporatist style of leadership, where important people from all sectors of society are brought in to debate and agree on things.

In actual practice, the authorities held by, say, the Prime Minister in a Westminster-style country are, in Aurinsula, divided among as many as five people - and all of them must agree in order to get anything done. This often makes their government hair-pullingly slow, but it makes sure that nobody has any hurt feelings.

Summerset Plains is ruled by a Naval Dictator, who does not have divine power. The power is shared between five individuals. The Naval General. The Land General. The Diplomat. The Spy. And our leader. Rules and laws are made through votes. In which the leader counts as two votes. The leaders are chosen through deeds in battle. And are put in a trial to see if are benevolent. And can be kicked out by the peasants. Also Summerset Plains is mainly a Monarchy before the Dictatorship. And people are still Dukes and Duchesses/ Earls of land which they rule but owe their Alleigance to the Leader.

The Republic of West Aurelia is a unitary presidential republic. There are three branches of government - the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches. The executive branch is headed by the President, who is both head of state and head of government and is elected every four years by popular vote. The legislative branch, Congress, is a unicameral legislature which is made up of 357 representatives based on proportional representation. The representatives are also elected every four years by popular vote, although the elections are held in the middle of the President's term. Lastly, the judiciary branch is made up of the Supreme Court and all lower courts. It is headed by the Chief Justice who leads eight other justices. All nine justices are appointed by the President and confirmed by Congress.

We are nominally a constitutional monarchy with a unicameral parliament, but are currently under martial law complete with a junta. In the past we were an absolute monarchy, but since 1950's the succession of kings has been replaced by a succession of military strongmen, who held both positions of Chief Justice on the Supreme court and Prime Minister during their respective reigns. The current dictator is an even-handed traditionalist.

The monarch is ceremonial for the most part and is chief priest of the Folk Religion. He has appointive powers over the Prime Minister, the cabinet, and the Supreme Court Chief Justice. He can effectively veto a candidate, but he can be ignored as well. Before the 1950's coup d'etat, he was an absolute monarch and was chief justice, chief army general, and chief navy admiral. All these functions were transferred to the Prime Minister while nominally remaining as commander-in-chief of armed forces. In 2009 the military general staff structure was modernized to include separate heads of each military branch, instead of several generals in the army and several admirals in Navy directly underneath the Prime Minister(who was usually an army general).

The parliament follows a semi-proportional election system. It is divided into a total of 100 seats; 45 elected from the Nasanian constituencies(with political parties' seats won by proportion of votes cast for them), 15 elected from Oscarian constituencies (15% of our population is this nationality), 10 elected from the Nicolan constituency (10% of our population is this nationality), 10 elected from Organized council of Shamans(Nasanian Folk Religion), 5 appointed by the monarch, 5 elected from each armed forces branch(15 total); constituent,Oscarian, and Nicolan members serve 3 year terms, the clerical and royal members are appointed for 5 year terms, the military members serve indefinitely unless dismissed by a court martial. We have 9 political parties currently holding seats in the Nasanian portion of parliament.

The Prime Minister is elected by majority vote in parliament(and is usually the leader of the majority coalition) and he selects the cabinet from a list of candidates on recommendation of the General of the Royal army.

The court system is based on a civil law structure and is headed by the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice is the General of the Royal Army and is appointed by the monarch, while the associate justices are appointed by the Prime Minister on recommendation of the 15 military members in the Parliament. Local courts are separated into civil, criminal, religious, and martial law. Local court officials are usually elected positions.

We are a unitary state with autonomous administrations within the country.

Administratively, the country has several provinces, each with an elected governor and local legislature. However, martial law has added several military districts with their own governors whose jurisdiction overlaps and supercedes the civil authorities. Religious districts are treated like the civil provinces, except that they are administered by religious law and are autonomous from the civil government. Cities are administered as separate entities once they reach a certain size, and are governed by an elected council with a mayor.

The country is ruled over by Her Exilic Majesty Taylana Tynian, Queen-in-Exile of The Homeward Isles. She technically has absolute power over the nation, mediated by the Conclave - a quasi-parliament made up of the House of Commons, the House of Nobles and the House of Guilds to represent the peasantry, nobility and merchant classes. Leading the Conclave is the office of the Exilic Regent held by Nariel Amaar-Tynian, founder of the Isles.

In practice the Isles is run like a proto-constitutional monarchy. the local nobles rule over the individual cities and regions of the Isles advised by a local council comprised of elected officials who represent the common citizenry and appoint representatives of the major guilds in the area. Issues should ideally be handled by the local lord, but the council does hold power to go above the lord and take their problems directly to the Conclave itself, which will then attempt to come p with a solution. If the Conclave can not then it goes to the Queen herself for a final ruling.

The Homeward Isles is a nation in transition, trying to balance millennia of history and tradition on the one hand and the decimation of much of the nobility during the Diaspora on the other. It is possible that the powers of the nobility and monarchy will be further ceded to the common people in the coming centuries as the process continues.
My Fantasy Tech Nation, of anthropomorphic felines driven from their homeland three centuries ago, who founded this new nation on a distant shore.

In The Silent Isles, the sitting monarch rules absolutely, with all laws in the land being enacted by his/her royal decree and assent, leaving no room for a formal legislature. However, a council exists known as The Bonheddig, it has 16 members with two representatives for each of the 8 Great Noble Houses of The Silent Isles, who are typically members of the lower nobility who are closely affiliated with the Regional Courts of the Great Noble Houses, or the offspring of the ruling Heads of the Great Noble Houses. The Bonheddig technically holds no actual power, it simply acts as an advisory body to the monarch that proposes ideas for laws and occasionally handles the planning for ceremonial affairs of the crown. However, history has shown that the power and influence of The Bonheddig can change, for example, during the reign of King Caius au Aramea IX, The Bonheddig essentially acted as a legislature, passing laws of its own accord with the consent of the King. Conversely, during the reign of King Platos au Ischyleon, The Bonheddig was dissolved, and its members ordered to leave the Royal Court.

The only other major center of political power is one that does not exist all the time. When the Sovereign dies, a council known as "The Etholwyr" is called by the deceased monarch's Bonheddig. This council consists of the 8 sitting patriarchs of the Great Noble Houses, who gather together in the Great Capital Palace to assume the governing of the country until the coronation of the next monarch. Coupled with this temporary regency power, The Etholwyr technically retains the right to elect the next monarch of the nation, although the vote typically goes to the eldest son of the deceased monarch, creating a de facto hereditary system.

Servica comprises more than 200 localities, each with their own economy - it is up to them to self-organize, though most come up as non-hierarchical. On the other side, there's the General Committee which is the closest thing to an executive branch of government. Its highest board is the general board, composed of general delegates (not military) in charge of liaising the many localities and maintaining the credibility of mutual aid. The most important general delegates are the chief-general and the deputy-general. They're like the president and vice president of the commune. Every 6 months (half a year) the 10 general delegates pick 10 people from a pool of random voluntary nominees to replace them. Since they don't know those people and only serve for a short time, it prevents cronyism and corruption. In turn, it is up to those 10 people to pick the chief and deputy delegates. Previously delegated individuals may run again for delegation, though getting picked from the big pile of names is a slim chance.

It's an autocracy. It is semi-democratic. It is ruled by a board of officials, the Volkboard, headed by the Chairman who has total, absolute power. Each member of the Volkboard, aside from the chairman, is responsible for one specific area of control and management. Military, economy, police, propaganda, etc. The Volkboard is elected by the people, and then the Volkboard elects the Chairman. Each member is elected from whatever service they go on to head. However, there is no system of terms, so each member is in their position until they resign, are deposed, or die. Whichever position the Chairman was in before election will be filled by another individual. The Government is extremely popular with the people, with the current leader having one of the highest approval ratings in the world. Volkstrad is highly authoritarian, exterminating enemies of the state before they even commit the crime. Adding that with having one of the best secret police agencies in our region makes it a dire threat. The Secret Police- Stasi, Civil Police- Volkspolizei, Military- Volkstradi People's Army, and the Militia-Volkstrad Homeland Guard, add together to maintain order and security. As the name states, our Nation has a Socialist economic system.

The Free States of Dixon is a confederal constitutional directorial republic with 18 states having a lot of power to rule themselves and a hybrid of direct democracy and parliamentarism; people have power to vote directly on many social issues. The confederal government is divided into the confederal parliament, the executive branch acting as the collective head of state and the supreme court.

All the 18 states have their own state parliaments, executive branches and courts of appeal, as do all the municipalities except with the parliaments being municipal and courts district courts.
