Heruism is the name of a socialist ideology created by Javar Heru, founder of the Socialist Republic of Ardoki, and Vanguard of the Great Revolution. It is has been the national ideology of Ardoki since the Great Revolution, in 1905, when the people rose up against the oppressive capitalist monarchy. Javar Heru was originally a lawyer in the city of Arvatija, the capital of the Ardokian Empire. He worked for the government and saw how the Empire was oppressing and exploiting the people, he thought there must be another way, a better way. In August 1888 he began writing down plans for a new society, an equal and free society.
Javar Heru was a follower of the works of Karl Marx and was amazed at the dream of communism, however he realised that communism was not yet possible, and decided that it was important to create a socialist nation first. Heru realised that communism can only work if the whole world is part of it, otherwise the attempt would be destructive. He believed that the creation of a powerful and prosperous socialist nation was the priority, however this nation must not be a dictatorship, but a democracy.
Javar Heru outlined his ideology in two parts; Marvana, good government, and Martranna, strong economy. This is what the constitution of the Socialist Republic of Ardoki is based upon. Here is an updated edition, from 2013, however only changes to keep it relevant at this date have been added.
Marvana (Good Government)
- A democratic government with equal representation for all the citizens and permanent residents of Ardoki.
- A single party to ensure representation of all the people and to prevent corruption of the ideals of the revolution.
- The merger of the executive and the legislature. A judiciary separate from the government.
- Right for anyone to run for public office as long as they receive endorsements of at least 5% from the citizens and permanent residents of the area they are running for office.
- The runner up in any election will fill the deputy position of any given office.
- Immediate Dismissal of any holder of public office, if 66% of voters call for their removal (this will be held by a referendum, if a petition with at least 51% of voters signing it is presented,).
- Complete separation of money and power from democracy.
- Freedom of thought (people with views harmful to society will be rehabilitated, e.g. racists, sexists, etc.).
- Freedom of speech (hate speech is prohibited. Hate speech is classified as any speech that is harmful to others, e.g. racism, sexism, homophobia, support for capitalism, support for fascism, etc.).
- Freedom of Assembly.
- The right of the people to create organisations of like-minded people (e.g. trade unions, political clubs, other clubs, etc.).
- The right of the people to create petitions, which when they reach a certain number, may be presented to the government of the area.
- The right of the people to legal defence, and good judges, and equal representation before the law. Accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
- The people have the right to seek alternate forms of media (hate speech prohibited).
- Complete absence of religion in public life (religion is barred from the government and education system, however is allowed for private practice) and religious institutions are not tax-exempt and must follow Ardokian laws (so no discrimination or hate speech).
- All people are equal and free. They have the right to life, liberty and security.
- Abolition of all forms of discrimination (e.g. racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, etc.).
- The right of all people (except those in criminal or other rehabilitation facilities) to freedom of movement around Ardoki, and beyond.
- Abolition of the prison system, to be replaced by rehabilitation facilities.
- Prohibition of the death penalty and torture.
- Any consenting adults may marry, and they may divorce if one of the people wishes.
- Any person has the right to complain to the Supreme Judiciary if they believe the government has committed a wrong.
Martranna (Strong Economy)
- The people have the right to housing, employment, healthcare, education, utilities (that is electricity, water, gas, internet). These shall all be provided for free by the government.
- Those unable to work (e.g. the elderly, the disabled), shall be payed a pension of the standard wage.
- Those who are pregnant shall receive leave with full pay from 3 months prior to the expected birth, and until 9 months after the birth.
- Private ownership and control over businesses with 10 or less employees (these are classified as Small Businesses). The standard wage must be paid to workers, taxes and rent must be paid (25% of profits), and regulation must be followed.
- Government control and ownership of all large and medium enterprises. These shall be run for-profit, with the profits being redistributed back to the people (e.g. healthcare, education, infrastructure, etc.).
- Abolition of personal taxes, unless income is derived from foreign sources.
- The standard wage is the minimum wage, it shall be NS$ 50 000 per year for each worker. The maximum wage shall be 5 times that (NS$ 250 000 per worker).
- The people have the right to form non-profit organisations (such as charities, non-profit news groups, etc.).
