Would it make sense to issue my mechanised infantry chest rigs due to the amount of time they spend in vehicles?

I fail to see your point. I was asking because I hear chest rigs are easier to wear when repeatedly getting in and out of vehicles versus conventional belt kit. And besides, it's not as if they hold less magazines or anything.

I thought you were planning on dispensing with webbing, presumably under the implication that items can be left in the vehicle. Belts and webbing can be worn in conjunction fairly simply.

The British Army, mechanised as it is, still uses belt gear with gay abandon.

Sticking the soft squishy part of a mechanized infantry unit all around the outside of the loud easily seen armored component is not a good idea.

The infantry component of mechanized infantry serves the IFV By entering and clearing Structures, Eliminating anti-armor infantry threats and by serving as a Vanguard, rearguard and defensive perimeter for the vehicle. while the IFV serves to protect the infantry from Small arms fire while carrying them about the battlefield (patrol route, Pacification mission ETC.) carries non-essential gear and is better capable of engaging other armored threats and structures than the infantry.

That being said if the infantry keep running back to the IFV every time they use the three magazines they were given because they have no webbing they are exposing themselves to fire or you have your soldiers fumbling around with the 10 magazines he's stuffed down his trousers so he would have an combat effective supply of ammunition.

FAKEEDIT: Belts are not common. chest rigs and webbing are common. This is mechanized infantry not the US. cavalry circa 1878
FAKEEDIT AGAIN: (you fuckers made me do this) I'd actually like to see that para do you have any reference photo's or anything? I'd like to see how it's arranged.

Indeed they do, but I was thinking of keeping ammo, grenades, water etc. in the chest rig and leaving everything else in rucksacks stowed in/on the vehicle. Bear in mind my mechanised infantry only debus very close to the objective (at least on paper) and the standard magazine issue is four plus one on the rifle.

I'm leaning towards just retaining a Soviet-style web set (or a 58 pattern expy) with a few extra accoutrements. Easier to carry, everything's there when you need it and it doesn't get in the way when you're prone.

@Balk: Yep, Mot. Schuetzen.

My rifle was basically just rip of the XCR with an added G36-style stock, to be completely honest.

Not nearly as interesting as this:

Which has a gas system I designed, 100% original aesthetic, etc.

(DISCLAIMER: Yes I know the stock and magwell are too long. I haven't actually touched this design pretty much since BH left, so...)
