Users

The Centurion Main Battle Tank is the current standard MBT of the Colonial Army of the Enkon colony. Designed by Svetja Ulova, a Promethiun colonial working for the ZetaResh Corporation on Enkon the Centurion was commissioned by the Colonial Military in order to fill the need for a native tank design which was better suited to Enkon and which could be produced in sufficient numbers from resources found locally.

Centurion Mk1 is an extensively modified vehicle based upon the Praetorian Mk3 design and was built to replace the Praetorian as the service MBT of the Colonial Army. It is lighter and faster compared to the Praetorian, but uses the less powerful MBT MA2l 120mm cannon compared with the MA2h found on the Praetorian - this is due to the demands by the Imperial Military that the colonial pattern tank not outstrip the standard Imperial service tank, in case of internal rebellion. Nonetheless the Centurion remains a formidable tank easily comparable to those utilised by other nations on Enkon.

The secondary armament of the Centurion differs from that of its cousin the Praetorian in that it is an automatic grenade launcher. The decision was made to mount and AGL on the turret in place of the hull mounted gatling gun on the Praetorian due to the need for greater urban versatility and the design requirement that the tank have a weapon facilitating crowd suppression; unlike the gatling gun the AGL can be loaded with tear gas canisters and other LTL ammunition. The support weapon remains the same as the CSPMG-90 was deemed a suitable close support armament that would not make a significant difference to the tanks overall capabilities when compared to that of the Imperial Praetorian.

Compared to the Praetorian the Centurion has a downgraded generator, using the G4i series which, though due to the weight differences makes it faster decreases its operational range. In addition the targeting system was also downgraded to use the older Tar 10 rather than the more recent Tar 12 or even its prototype successor the Tar 13. The onboard AI was not downgraded, this is because there are plans to upgrade the AI in the existing Praetorian tanks in the near future.

The Kajiya Juki Type 23 Assault Carbine is a mass production assault rifle which is manufactured for commercial and military use, using a very basic and simple design in many ways similar to the design basis of the AK-47 and AK-74. Semi-Automatic Type 23s are sold on the civilian market in .22 calibre for home defence and hunting use and the ownership of such firearms is allowed on license within the Union of Arcadian States; fully automatic select fire models which are chambered for 5.556x45mm Arcadian Velocity are available for contract purchase and are mass produced for military and private corporate use.

Because of its simple design, rugged reliability and ease of maintenance the Type 23 is a very popular firearm on the international market, especially since they are cheap to purchase and supply. The standard model is capable of firing 5.56x45mm NATO rounds as well as the BBHV equivalent so no modification is needed in most cases. The parts required to manufacture and maintain the Type 23 are of such design that they can easily be switched out and replaced, not only that but they are in and of themselves very straight forward to produce, this means that the Type 23 is often reproduced on license rather than by the Kajiya Juki corporation itself.

Several variants do exist including long barrel, heavy barrel and 7.62mm rechamber. (T23-EB, T23-HB, T23-762). Additionally the Type 23 is capable of taking a number of attachments including optical and laser sights, front torches, suppressors and extended magazines.

The Achaemenid Mk1 HPA was originally a ZetaResh corporate project, however in a surprising deal they sold the rights and the design specifications to Allied Industries, where the project was taken over by the Yozan team. Though initially intended to be a supplementary unit to assist the colonial military and secure ground dominance it has since become a major prototype for a new kind of armoured warfare and is in limited deployment with the special forces of the Arcadian Mandate. The Achaemenid is designated as heavy power armour by the military though this is largely because no comparable technology was in use by the military at the time, however it is more an assault walker or enhanced cybernetic enhancement than a real suit of power armour. Standing at around 9ft tall it is an imposing sight and much larger than most convention power armour design, even those also designated as 'heavy'.

Armed with a powerful 20mm Solomon Vagar-12 Automatic Assault Cannon, capable of firing 600 rounds per minute with an average muzzle velocity of 1500 m/s; it fires High Density Solid Point (HDSP) Arcadian Velocity rounds which can easily shred most masonry and light vehicles. The loading mechanism is integrated into the main structure of the right arm with a direct internal ammunition feed linked to a field container which can carry up to 6000 rounds but which is usually downsized to 3000 for maximum energy efficiency. As standard the AAC features select fire enabling fully automatic, semi-automatic and 3 round burst fire; the weapon's sighting is integrated into the central AI and targeting software for maximum accuracy and rapid target selection.

Due to the structural nature and design of the Achaemenid it cannot be deployed by air; it lacks the inertial stabilisers and suspensor capability to compensate for such drops. However it is robust enough to be deployed from a fast moving vehicle, or be transported by air; as such it is largely used as heavy infantry support and to engage light vehicles.

Created as part of a covert rearmament programme for the government of the Arcadian Mandate, by the enigmatic Allied Industries, the Type 1 'Sumerian' is the very first of its kind. The first in a new evolutionary stage of battlefield tactics and armoured warfare; where previous battle suits and powered armour provided an upgrade to the abilities of infantry the MoBaSu will provide a new force altogether, much as the tank first did on the battle fields of ancient Terra. What makes a MoBaSu different to a suit of power armour is that it is many times larger, the Sumerian stands at around 12 feet in height compared to the 8 feet of the largest powered armour available to Arcadian forces; but not only that, it is built with the resilience of an MBT and the mobility of rapid assault infantry.

The Sumerian is armed with a 25mm M9 Phoenix Rotorcannon, with an autoloader fitted so that it can switch between three ammunition variants without a complete manual reload. With each 25mm round weighing approximately 85g the standard Sumerian carries an ammunition container on its back (not shown in the picture) which holds up to 6000 rounds, enough for a single minute of fire on fully automatic; as such the M9 utilises a burst fire control mechanism which can be disengaged if required. The Sumerian SF1 has a dual container giving it an ammunition capacity of 12,000 rounds, however this significantly encumbers the frame and requires the removal of the jump drives, meaning that the SF series cannot be deployed by air. The Sumerian HS variants are armed with a twin barreled select fire 40mm M102 Taurus auto-cannon instead of the Rotorgun. Regardless of the weapons they carry all Sumerian MoBaSus are fitted with inertial, gyro and anti-grav stabilisers, adjustors and recoil compensators in order to effectively handle such high recoil weapons effectively.

Standard variant Sumerians, as well as Sumerian HS1s are deployable by air from specially adapted transport aircraft, which can drop them directly onto the battlefield thanks to the jump drives fitted into the core system. Though the jump drives are incapable of granting the Sumerian flight, or any more than momentary boosts into the air due to the weight of the frame, they are sufficient to act as parachutes. The average movement speed of a Sumerian is 36.4mph, with a maximum speed of 55.2mph on full burn, pushing the Sumerian beyond the recommended maximum speed of 40mph can result in system and hardware degradation and overheating, particularly in the primary generator.

The defensive capabilities of the Sumerian are significant; not only is it clad in almost as much bondalloy armour as an MBT, it also has an integrated shielding system which negates light calibre weapons and weakens more powerful weaponry. The AI-FIDS was developed by the Skinner-Movens team at Allied Industries as a means to protect Ultra-Thermal Mining teams from the extreme heat and rock shard fragments that are thrown off by the mining process. As the project developed it was found that simple modifications to the core energy projection system could result in a much more powerful and stable shield which could be used for military purposes. The Mk4 FIDS is the first of the series that was suitable for frontline military application; it is capable of deflecting small arms fire (with the exception of extreme calibre small arms) entirely as well as reducing the ballistic and concussive force of heavier weapons. In addition the shield is designed to absorb heat and other similar energy dispersal given off by specialised ammunition.

All Sumerians are constructed on a reliable ferrumat skeleton with adjustable Arcadian Bondalloy armour in a reactive/ablative configuration for versatile defence. The core skeleton provides the model with a solid and robust frame which can take considerable punishment and the integrated systems are linked to this rather than the armour itself meaning that superficial damage will not impede the suit's ability. The bondalloy armour is designed to be reactive and in places ablative, dropping away as it starts to suffer damage thus diffusing the energy used that might otherwise cause signaficant damage to the system.

Development History
The Commonwealth government issued a commission to Allied Industries with the following specifications:
The CAF requires a robust, durable and versatile upgrade to the existing Achaemenid Mk1 MoBaSu. It is deemed necessary that the CAF arms itself with a range of new Mobile Battle Suits which are capable of being used by any branch of the military as roving support and assault operations.

Such a unit should feature its own independent power source, integrated shielding and weapons system and be capable of easily accepting additional weapons as necessary. In addition the new unit should be capable of engaging both infantry and armoured targets at long, medium, short and close range.

The overall cost per unit should not exceed 10 million krendars.


The result was the Sumerian Type 1, the first new development to be issued to the CAF and not the Mandate. Though the Mandate still existed at the time the commission was issued it was not issued in its name but in the name of the Commonwealth which had at that stage yet to be declared. This perhaps indicative of the close relationship between the Commonwealth government and Allied Industries, even at this early stage.

The Mk2 Canaanite is the first Main Battle Tank to enter primary production for the Arcadian Mandate which has been developed by a development workshop native to Enkon. Designed by the Mark-Hendrix-Wahler team, the Canaanite was developed to specific specifications in order to retain military technological superiority on the planet while also posing a significant danger to Arcadian Imperial military technology.

Built to replace the Centurion Mk1, the Canaanite features greatly improved durability as well as a much more powerful primary armament. The M2402 Arc Hammer is a variable pulse quad cannon which fires small solid projection cases sheathed in an energised field allowing them the punch through shielding and armour with considerable ease; because it is a variable pulse weapon the energy sheath can be altered to provide a variety of effects from high explosive to anti-materiel, giving the Canaanite incredible versatility in the field. Its secondary armament, the M10 Line Backer is fitted to an external precision pintle which is controlled from inside the tank; capable of 800 12.7mm rounds per minute and with an effective range of 800m it is a deadly weapon against infantry and light vehicles.

The hull of the Canaanite is made out of a classified bondalloy derivative which grants the vehicle significant durability, beyond the usual capabilities displayed in the Praetorian or Centurion tanks. The shape and internal reinforced structure allows the tank to survive extremely powerful blasts with minimal damage to its overall structural integrity. Fitted with a newly developed HIDS shielding system which can take great amounts of punishment before being breached, lending strength and fortitude to the overall durability of the tank.

The Field Combat Armour M1 (military designation AI FCA M1) in Allied Industries' answer to the older FP Mk1 and FP Mk2 battle armour systems which had been developed by ZetaResh for the Arcadian Military. When ZetaResh's assets on Enkon were bought out by Allied Industries the Commonwealth Armed Forces commissioned AI to produce a replacement for the aging Fibre Plate systems which could be mass produced on Enkon and outstrip the existing systems in use by the Arcadian Reich. The primary response was to build the system out of the newly developed Promethian Flexalloy instead of the older Arcadian Bondalloy; the fabrics were switched over too with Promethian Armourweave, these materials are much more easily synthesised on Enkon and are much more resource efficient as a result.

An entirely new integral combat system was put in place to replace the Arcadian systems tech found in the FP series which could easily become vulnerable to cyber attacks by Imperial forces. The new Integrated User Interface operates on an entirely new system which features a closed network and EMP defensors; nothing of the old Arcadian systems design remains making it a completely independent network.

On the whole the FCA M1 is 33% more efficient and effective than the FP Mk1 and 19% more than the FP Mk2, both in terms of its ability to protect the wear an in terms of its battlefield utility.

The Independence Class command carrier is the first naval space craft to be designed and built in and by the Commonwealth. Developed by Allied Industries through a combination of reverse engineering on Kotori and Jarrick class ships and reviews of ZetaResh technical specifications, the Independence Class is a true hybrid ship. Unlike Arcadian Syel Mato Class carriers the Independence was developed as a Micro-Carrier, utilising maximum space efficiency to effectively carry much greater firepower and carrier capacity than is usual for a vessel of its side; the tradeoff is a much smaller transport capacity and overall travel range without resupply.

Design History
The project to develop a command carrier which could uniquely carry out the tasks required by the Commonwealth's radical naval doctrine began when Allied Industries succeeded ZetaResh and bought out its technical specifications and assets on Enkon. The hull design and overall system development were completed early on in the ship's development, however it languished in a state of developmental stagnation for months as technicians, engineers and scientists tried to resolve the energy supply problems and computer software networking which was vitally needed. Conventional Arcadian ships use a single vast reactor to power all of the ship's systems, however the Promethian doctrine required a much more stable and spread out system which relied upon a series of micro-reactors; the concept was sound however getting it to work proved to be a significant challenge. Meanwhile the software needed to be designed from scratch and be significantly different from the Arcadian developed software both to prevent cyber attacks and to better facilitate the design differences.

When the Kotori Class carrier Legate Canaan was captured by Commonwealth forces in 365 12e the military was quick to call in technicians and engineers to reverse engineer the ship's power systems; with access to military deuterium reactors they were able to developed the modular nodal reactor system that was desired for the Independence Class. The software issues remained but were resolved when suitable control code was found in the Motakograd facility operating software. The production of the first Independence Class Micro-Carrier began in August 365 12e.

Core Systems
The Arcadian vessels from which much of the technology used in the Independence Class were derived utilised old but reliable care software and hardware system which had been proven over centuries of use and steadily developed and refined over time to a point of great efficacy. However as a result of this gradual working evolution the systems had become quite convoluted with whole subnetworks of outdated and obsolete software and hardware which saps the overall system efficiency while carrying out functions no longer necessary or altogether pointless. As a result entirely new hardware and software was created and installed in order to fully facilitate the advanced and compact equipment found on board.

Every system has been developed in a modular nodal manner with individual subsystems each capable of operating independently from the rest if need be; these subsystems are each controlled and processed by a single central AI core which brings them together and allows for interfacing between the different software and parts of the ship. Thus targeting can be carried out independently from firing or navigation b=while simultaneously feeding relevant data back to the core to boost overall efficiency.

The primary generator is in fact a series of 16 deuterium micro-cores which are fueled and linked independently from one another; for ordinary operation only 4 of the cores need to be active however as the ship is placed under additional strain such as through combat or the engagement of additional systems the other cores start to kick in in increments of 2. For optimal performance 6 cores will be active, if all 16 are brought fully online at once it can lead to a system overload and prove quite damaging to the vessel long term.

The hull and majority of the superstructure is made from Promethian Orichalcum, a material produced in orbit is zero gravity conditions from native resources. The overall structure and density makes the Independence Class highly durable and reliable. The internal structure much like the rest of the design is modular and nodal meaning that sections can be sealed off in the event of a hull breach within a matter of seconds; not only that but this modular structure means that the craft can be easily assembled in orbit from prefabricated parts with great speed.

Weapons Systems
The primary armament is a set of 4 high powered Boyars M92 Macrocannons which are mounted on separate turrets providing a 190:190:360 arc of fire. The Boyars provide heavy firepower capable of causing significant damage over long ranges and with smart reflex targeting and grav stabilisers the weapons are capable of firing one round every 2 seconds; the cannons fire an explosively charged energy pulse designed to overload shielding systems and cause maximum structural damage. The majority of the hitting power provided by the Boyars comes as a result of the extreme temperatures generated by each blast, however due to the effects of atmospheric energy dispersal they are not effective for orbital bombardment.

For its main ship to ship offensive capability the Independence Class relies upon a broadside array of Fusilade M7 Disintegrators; unlike the Arcadian ships from which it is derived however its broadsides are mounted in stacked positions allowing multidirectional broadside fire without needing to turn the ship or adjust its yaw. The M7 Disintegrator fires a burst of three darklight energy pulses which break the energy bonds holding atoms together, thus causing solid matter to separate into small particles; this is especially effective at eating through the hulls of craft both light and heavy. The three shot burst allows for massed fire to be used against fighters with great efficiency.

The Orbital Bombardment Array uses a complement of 25 M1 Skyhammer Cannons, each of which is capable of firing a single shot, or a five round burst accurately at a surface target which has been fully reconnoitered. These cannons fire high yield Tritium charged shells of extreme calibre at considerable velocity which have a yield of about 30 Megatons each; however higher yield shells are available though rarely used. The reason for the 5 round burst is that the array can fire approximately five times before the extreme recoil knocks the ship out of alignment, making targeting data arbitrary.

First built in 365 12e for the Commonwealth's war of independence the Justicar Class was intended to provide a compact and highly adaptable answer to the Imperial Chofe Asye Class dreadnoughts at a fraction of the cost; ultimately Allied Industries succeeded as the Justicar Class has proven to be a powerful asset to the war effort.

The primary aim of AI was to produce a craft with a level of firepower comparable to the Chofe Asye, but in a much smaller size; in achieving this they also succeeded in creating a much faster and more manoeuvrable ship with greatly improved firing arcs on its primary armaments.

The Justicar Class was designed and built using a combination of newly developed technology and older ZetaResh design specifications acquired by the development workshop after the buyout of the corporation's assets on Enkon. As a result the ship is recognisably Arcadian in nature, following similar design and construction methods; however it diverges significantly from traditional Arcadian design in terms of its combat utility which follows the newer doctrine employed by the Commonwealth.

Service History
During the early stages of the Commonwealth-Arcadian War (Promethian War of Independence) only two Justicar Class craft had been completed, however within one week of the Arcadian 4th Fleet's arrival an additional ship had been completed with two more under construction. Though very few in number even from the earliest stages the Justicar would play a pivotal role in the conflict giving the Commonwealth a series of early victories, this in part being due to the ship's small size by comparison to craft with similar weapons and capabilities.

In early engagements Arcadian commanders mistook the Justicar Class for a 4th or at most 3rd Rate ship of the line, and not a dreadnought, as a result it was entirely underestimated. The results proved devastating with the Kobiashi Maruu succeeding in crippling a Sedt Class 6th Rate in its first engagement while sustaining no damage itself; in subsequent engagements the Kobiashi Maruu would destroy 2 more 6th Rates and assist in the destruction of a third. Another Justicar, the Wrath of Kono would succeed in destroying a Sedt Class 6th Rate and assisting in the destruction of four more.

Following these early successes the Commonwealth chose to speed up and prioritise construction on more Justicars. A decision which also prompted them to relocate their orbital shipyards from Enkon to a position in orbit around Zues to protect their production facilities; by now a steady flow of resources had been secured on the surface through trade with other nations. By this time four Justicars had entered service with the construction of four more delayed due to the relocation of the shipyards.

The success of the Justicar Class also lead the CAF to cut back the production of the Indomitable Class 5th Rate.

The Harpy was developed by Allied Industries as a Versatile Support Craft which could deliver multiple units into combat, including a squadron of MoBaSus while also providing precision air support at close range. The Harpy was initially designed to replace transport helicopters with a much faster and better protected equivalent; it was hoped that a high speed VTOL, equipped with significant anti-infantry and medium strength firepower would provide universal air support to the Commonwealth Armed Forces. However as development progressed it became increasingly clear that a single craft could not carry out every role; thus the Harpy was stripped down in size and weight and fitted with lighter weaponry so that it could serve as the primary airborne troop transport.

Though very well armed the Harpy lacks sufficient firepower to engage main battle tanks or similar heavily armoured units, its M2 Swatter Pods using high explosive or incendiary rockets for best effect on buildings and fortified positions. Likewise while it is better armoured than most aircraft of its type it remains incapable of sustaining significant damage from high powered weapons or anti-air missiles. The primary strengths of the Harpy are its speed, agility and versatility; thanks to the engine setup it is capable of making very sharp turns at high speed with relative ease, and its array of weapons makes it idea for heavy infantry support when assaulting buildings or defensive structures.

The Harpy can be used for medi-evac, battlefield delivery and close air support; thanks to its 10 man transport capacity which allows it to deliver 1 squad (2 sections) of soldiers into battle as well as a squadron of 3 MoBaSus which can be clamped in place on the sides and rear of the craft, though when fully laden its overall speed suffers. Even when encumbered the Harpy boasts reasonable (though not excellent) fuel efficiency capable of travelling a total distance of 1200km without needing fresh fuel capsules for the engines (750km when fully encumbered).

History
During the Commonwealth's involvement in the Battle of New Andas and the Battle of First Town during the Vvardenese Civil War the Promethian military suffered significant casualties as a result of their transport helicopters being shot down by enemy fire. While their troops were superior in equipment and training to the North Vvardenese rebels they were extremely vulnerable when in transit to the battlefield and 75% of infantry casualties through the course of both major engagements came as a result of their transport helicopters being shot down.

When the statistics were compiled and reviewed by the War Office for their Operations Report they were shocked to discover just how serious a weakness their existing fleet of helicopters were to their overall military efficacy. Sending in well armed, armoured and equipped soldiers who could be killed ten at a time by a single very cheap and ubiquitous weapon was no way to fight any war. The result was the commissioning of Allied Industries to produce a new, more durable alternative which in turn produced the Type 2 'Harpy'.

AI assembled a whole new development team which consisted of former ZetaResh employees as well as newly inducted personnel for the project and placed into under the leadership of Mai Sythen.

Specifications
Featuring an AI-PDC VTOL 1 generator which provides the primary source of power to the engines the Harpy is highly reliable in the field; the PDC VTOL 1 was designed to be durable, reliable and efficient. The fact that the generator was designed to directly interface and integrate with the twin AI-SAE VTOL 1 phase engines further increases efficiency through system synergy. Without passengers the Harpy is easily capable of reaching speeds up to 420kmp/h, though with the sides open the practical speed is much lower.

Reactive shielding from the AI-SSS VTOL 1 integrates seamlessly with the other systems found on board, including the targeting and AI systems for maximum energy efficiency and smoothness of performance. That said it does suffer from an overload malfunction when hit by high energy projectiles, which can result in systems failures in targeting in particular.

The primary armament of the Harpy is the AI Solomon Vagar-12b AAC, a high powered 40mm automatic assault cannon designed for engaging IFVs, APCs and other light military vehicles; this is supplemented by a pair of side mounted M7 Phoenix Rotorcannons, lighter 15mm calibre versions of the more powerful M9 Phoenix. These rotorcannons are manned either by a pair of gunners or by the squad being transported and are primarily meant to provide covering fire to the troops as they close in on their deployment zone and as they disembark, however they can be used for infantry suppression and engagement. Finally the M2 Swatter Pods provide much needed explosive support fire and are primarily used in strafing runs and close air bombardment of fortified positions.

All of the Harpy's systems run through the central AI-SSAI VTOL 1 system but can function independently if needed; in fact the software can be disengaged altogether to allow completely manual flying, further this allows the craft to remain in the air even after an EMP strike (against which the systems are hardened though not immune). The targeting and navigational software are also linked through the AI, allowing for weapons control to be reallocated or auto-pilot to be engaged in the case of an emergency.

Following the success of the Type 2 'Harpy' Allied Industries' Sythen Team continued to work on new VTOL designs to diversify the range and provide the CAF with something that the Harpy alone could not. One of the commissions that the military put in following the introduction of the Harpy was for a similar graft capable of carrying twice as many troopers and MoBaSus as the Harpy while sporting a heavier weapons compliment and longer overall range; the ultimate result was the Type 8 'Manticore' heavy transport craft.

Capable of carrying up to 20 soldiers and 2 squadrons of 3 MoBaSus (one on each side) the Manticore is one of the largest aircraft of its type in use by any military with an overall carrying capacity of more that 20 tons. The Manticore was primarily intended for large scale deployments in rapid assault scenarios, where they could drop off significant numbers of soldiers and MoBaSus directly into the battlefield. However during its development the decision was made to equip it with a heavier payload thus giving it a much greater impact in combat situations.

Though not as fast or agile as the Harpy, the Manticore is still capable of surprising bursts of speed and has an impressive turn rate. The Manticore is used for supply drops, medical evacuations and close air support among other things and boasts good fuel efficiency, an 800km range and reasonable consumption.

When it was realised that the Harpy could not fill all of the roles needed 3 further design projects were commissioned, one of these being the Manticore which was initialised as Project 12: Heavy Transport Craft. Development of the Manticore began before the Harpy had entered service but incorporated the design lessons learned from the development of the Harpy as well as the lessons learned from field testing it.

The major design issue was the sheer size of the craft, combined with the weight of the planned carrier compliment which the Harpy's engines would have been unable to support even if scaled up to the increased size of the craft which necessitated the development of a wholly new design. The upgraded hardware used needed greater lift for less weight, but the payoff came in fuel efficiency, thus reducing the craft's overall range.

Specifications
The commission issued by the government demanded a vastly increased compliment of weapons to be mounted on the Manticore by comparison to the Harpy so as to provide better protection to the increased number of passengers as well as to provide close air support as they disembarked. The Sythen Team's response to this was to mount an additional 3 AACs, 2 extra Rotorcannons and Swatter Pods and 6 independent D-Missiles; this gives the Manticore enough firepower to rapidly destroy light cover, structures and light vehicles, while the D-Missiles provide anti-armour capabilities which were lacking in the Harpy.

In spite of the versatility of the Harpy and Manticore VTOLs the Commonwealth Military Command chose to commission to development of a dedicated VTOL gunship series which would parallel the Harpy and Manticore, with the intention of providing greater volumes of dedicated fire support. Thus the project to develop the Wendigo was born. Headed up by the same team which developed the Harpy, the Sythen Team, the Wendigo was built around a radical and entirely different frame to that found on the Harpy; the stated reason for this was that a unique modular frame could allow them to purpose build integrated systems without having to fit them around a pre-existing frame template.

The Wendigo carries an underslung pintle-mounted Bolton M4 heavy autocannon for anti-armour/anti-fortification assault as well as wing mounted M10 Phoenix Rotorcannons and twin M2 Swatter missile pods. This combination of firepower allows the Wendigo to perform close fire support against virtually any kind of target, though it does lack sufficiently powerful weaponry to deal with heavy armour. One of the key features of the Wendigo's weapons system is its dedicated targeting hardware and software which was designed to facilitate effective close quarters and urban combat. The military made it clear when they commissioned the Wendigo that it would need to be suitable for protracted urban battles such as were witnessed in First Town and New Andas.

A three man crew is required to fly a Wendigo; a pilot, co-pilot and gunner, the internal controls are interchangeable meaning that any of the crew can operate any of the the VTOL's weapons independently with the Gunner taking precedence. This system allows the Wendigo to engage multiple targets at once without sacrificing accuracy. In addition all support systems can be manually or automatically transferred between the 3 internal control panels so that control can be maintained in the event of crew injury.

History
During the Battles of New Andas and First Town in Vvarden ground forces found themselves deprived of effective air support due to the close fighting conditions and the surface-to-air saturation the enemy forces were able to maintain. Helicopter gunships such as the aging HIND or Apache models were proving too fragile against an opposition force equipped with modern surface-to-air missiles and a highly trained force proficient in their use; even where the enemy were unable to bring such weapons into play they had much more basic and dated weapons available which were still effective. In light of this the military ordered a series of reports, one of which included a review of their close and sustained air support capabilities.

The report found that the existing helicopters used in support and attack roles were severely lacking by comparison to other terrestrial forces on Enkon and that 67% of the casualties among attack helicopter crews could have been prevented had they been equipped properly. The report concluded that significant upgrades and overhauls to the HIND and Apache helicopters would be needed to bring them up to the required standard, however the Tanaka administration was disinclined to invest money upgrading a fleet of dated attack helicopters when the means existed to design superior replacements. The result of this was a memorandum from President Tanaka's office to the logistical departments of the military which subsequently became a direct commission by the military to Allied Industries calling for the design of a series of new gunships designed to parallel the Harpy prototypes they had already developed.

Originally the design was commissioned by the Commonwealth Air Force to replace the aging Reich Helicarriers being used up to that point; however with a change in government and military budget cuts shortly after the class' ntroduction into military service the Shen Administration gave AI permission to manufacture Tu Ji class carriers to order for foreign clients.

Caseless Solid Projectile Ammunition Technology

Caseless Solid Projectile Ammunition technology, or CSPA technology is a core Arcadian technological development discovered some three centuries ago in the Arcadian Reich by Holbin Zeidelle of the ZetaResh Corporation. It has since be refined by numerous other inventors and engineers including Hans Koenig, Julla Olme and Zhiang Tiaoxin and is now a mainstream feature in Arcadian technology and warfare.

CSPA technology has allowed Arcadian weapons development to advance beyond the confines of standard ballistic ammunition which was limited by the effective yield of the explosive charge used in conventional solid projectile ammunition, to propel the round. Caseless ammunition can be projected without the restriction of relative explosive yield at much higher velocities and with much greater effect; it also allows for advanced composite ammunition development and far greater versatility in small arms application.

Early caseless ammunition consisted of little more that a shaped solid bolt which was made from composite materials allowing it to be projected at extreme velocities by the firing mechanism of the gun into which it was loaded, however the technology has advanced a great deal since then. With the invention of composite ammunition by Julla Olme caseless ammunition was suddenly able to carry a variety of different tips and charges for situational use, such as plasma tipped projectiles, or scatter shot rounds.

What is Caseless Ammunition?
Conventional ballistic ammunition consists of a tipped projectile housed within a casing or jacket which contains a quantity of explosive powder as well as a primer to ignite the powder causing a small explosion and thus propelling the tip out of the gun. By contrast caseless ammunition uses no case, no powder and no primer, in effect it is simply the tip of the bullet which is projected by the firearm into which it is loaded. There are various ways in which CSPA can be fired, however the most common rely upon energy displacement or electro-magnetics.

To most this would hardly seem a new or advanced development, since basic caseless ammunition is just a solid metal bolt, however in order for the bolt to be projected effectively from a hand held weapon the atomic structure of it needs to be carefully formed. Early caseless ammunition used thread twisting, that is to say the twisting of four narrow threads of different metals together, in order to ensure the correct distribution of materials that would each be affected differently by the firing mechanism. Later with the development of fabricator matrices this twisting method became obsolete though the structure of ammunition remained largely unchanged.

The vast majority of modern caseless ammunition is composite in nature, meaning that it is not a simple solid bolt but carries a special charge or tip to allow for different effects and greater versatility. For example the type of ammunition most commonly used by Commonwealth forces is the plasma charge tip or PCT round in which the fore section of the projectile contains a plasma micro-charge which upon impact causes a tiny controlled plasma explosion no more than a centimeter in diameter. This allows the round to be effectively used to knock out personal energy shields and cause damage to armoured units and vehicles without needing to rely upon brute force as conventional armour piercing rounds do.

Orichalcum

Orichalcum is an artificial material of Imperial Arcadian origin which has been widely manufactured and utilised since its invention more than 800 years ago. Little is known outside the circles of those Forge Master capable of producing it on how it is made or what it is made from, however Iron, Silicon and Carbon are known to be key ingredients, though in what quantity and capacity is unclear. In addition to these ingredients there appear to be a number of others which are not native to Enkon which has resulted in the steady decline in the manufacture and use of Arcadian Orichalcum and a rise in the use of Promethiun Orichalcum which serves as a viable local alternative.

Traits and Uses
Orichalcum is an extremely strong material with a great deal of pressure and heat resistance making it ideal for use in spacecraft and landing vessels, however its weight makes in unsuitable for use in terrestrial aircraft and ships as well as in body armour and armoured vehicles. It was remarked by scientists and engineers that Orichalcum also had the ability to effectively shield against radiation, however since radioactivity causes the material to rapidly corrode its use in nuclear reactors and other radioactive facilities never really took hold.

By contrast Promethiun Orichalcum is much lighter and much more effective when used in smaller quantities. The disadvantage that Promethiun Orichalcum has compared to Arcadian is that it is in no way radiation resistant and is significantly more energy intensive to manufacture since it requires the use of a fabricator matrix in order to be properly produced. Promethiun Orichalcum has been used in aircraft, tanks and space craft of varying descriptions, however its use, as with Arcadian Orichalcum, is declining due to advancements in Bondalloys, Flexalloys and the invention of Tallentryte.

Most Arcadian Orichalcum is recycled due to the lack of certain required ingredients on Enkon and this recycled Orichalcum is primarily used for civilian application in industry and infrastructure. Limited quantities of recycled Orichalcum ingots, produced from the wreckage of Imperial Arcadian ships, which have been dubbed 'Blood Orichalcum' due to its grisly past, have been exported to nations such as Onza and Ajerrin.

Bondalloy

Bondalloy is a general term for a group of three artificial materials produced by the Arcadian Commonwealth. These are Arcadian, Promethiun and Hangyen Bondalloy. Bondalloy was first produced in the Arcadian Reich, however due to the effectiveness of Orichalcum at the time and prevailing conservative attitudes toward the new material it was never mass produced or widely used; however with the declaration of independence by the Arcadian Commonwealth on Enkon the prevalence of Bondalloy grew.

Commonwealth industrialists and military engineers rapidly learned that Bondalloy was far more effective in small quantities than other alternatives such as Orichalcum or ZetaSteel and could be more cheaply mass produced on Enkon due to the common nature of the required materials found there. As a result Bondalloy development was stepped up and Allied Industries soon produced the first examples of Promethiun Bondalloy. Soon thereafter a private lab in Czerniy invented Hangyen Bondalloy, named after its inventor, Dr Ira Hangyen, however this type never saw use in anything other than rare precision machines.

Traits and Uses
Bondalloy is a lightweight material with extremely high tensile strength known for its high tolerance for impact damage and its heat resistant qualities. However unlike Orichalcum it offers no real radiation protection and lacks sufficient heat resistance to be used for regular atmospheric reentry. As such Bondalloy is primarily use for terrestrial or space application, but not in between the two; the most common use for Bondalloy is in body armour, armoured vehicles and aircraft, though more recently an upsurge in production as well as the development of the hyper speed rail link across the Commonwealth has led to increased civilian application.

Dahl-Reuters, or DR, Interfaces are a form of artificial interfacing implant based upon the original bio-mechanical interfacing technology created by the Dahl-Reuters scientific team; the technology has since been heavily developed by numerous corporations but all work using the original DR system.

DR Augmentations, sometimes referred to as Anchor-Implants or (incorrectly) as Cybernetics, are artificial devices which are implanted into the body in order to create a direct interface between the brain, nervous system and other implants and augmentations. Thus a DR interface facilitates the installation of other artificial body parts such as advanced prostheses or augmentations and without a DRi prostheses and augmentations must be manually and directly installed into the human body at great expense and risk.

Most people who utilise DRis only use a very basic type which allows for superficial and minor augmentations to be utilised on a temporary basis; however more advance DRis are necessary for the person who wishes to control a prosthetic limb or neural implant for example. The most advanced DRi features numerous nerve interfacing clusters and nodes, attached to the bone structure, these allow multiple implants and augmentations to be attached to the body and directly interfaced with relative ease.

It should be noted that DRis do not enhanced the mental faculties of the user, nor to they grant any direct benefits alone; they merely facilitate the installation of further augmentations and are the core anchor upon which cyberorganic transference and enhancement are constructed.
