The Mèt Charpantye Corporation was first commissioned to produce the Syèl Mato Class Command Carrier by the Arcadian government under Lars Ulrics in 222 12e to replace the aging Katriyèm Class Flagship. The Syèl Mato Class was designed and built to extremely high and exacting standards; the Katriyèm Class had been a powerful mainstay of the Arcadian military for almost a century and had proven to be highly adaptable, however the maintenance costs of such old vessels combined with the need to refit them with more modern technology made upgrading the fleet untenable. Thus the Syèl Mato Class was required to provide everything that its predecessor had and more; Fleet Command had identified a number of shortcomings in the Katriyèm design and a shift in Arcadian naval doctrine meant that simple Heavy Dreadnoughts were no longer sufficient as flagships. An increasing reliance on carriers which could provide both defensive and offensive fighter screens pushed Fleet Command to include a large carrier capacity on the list of design requirements.

The Syèl Mato Class is the first ship of its kind to have been produced by the Mèt Charpantye and there were some concerns among the Arcadian military of their capability to construct a ship of this type. Unlike the heavy carrier, support frigate and corvette classes they usually produced the design requirements of a Command Carrier posed new challenges; the Arcadian Military demanded a craft capable of providing a greater carrier capacity than their existing Loraj Men Class carrier, while also fielding a broadside and firepower capability equivalent to that of a dreadnought. It took Mèt Charpantye twelve years to get an early prototype design completed for review and a further thirty years to construct the first full scale prototype.

Since first entering service in 298 12e the Syèl Mato Class has seen action in almost every major engagement undertaken by the Arcadian Navy; it also proved to be a defining craft in their new fleet doctrine which is centred around a core of command and heavy carrier. To date 220 Syèl Mato Class Command Carriers have been built, which given its size and the young age of the design is a considerable number; its even more surprising when one considers that the standard orbital shipyards had to be modified in order to allow the construction of such a large ship.

Unlike many carriers Syèl Mato Class is equipped with a series of heavy armaments which are comparable in power and capability to those found on a Heavy Dreadnought; this is no accident, from the earliest design stages the class was always intended to carry an impressive armament so that it could actively participate in forward action in fleet to fleet combat. As an additional feature the Syèl Mato Class was equipped with the advanced M22 Glenmarc Orbital Bombardment Matrix, a fully integrated system running of its own exclusive generator capable of firing on a broad array of differing settings.

The fire capabilities of the Syèl Mato Class are considerable as it is intended to join primary engagements and direct ship to ship combat in the support role of both carrier and flagship. Integrated weapons systems are a must and though it does not feature the heaviest weapons available it does carry those found in the higher bracket in terms of power. The armaments seen on the design were carefully chosen for versatility and reliability more than power as the use of Syèl Mato Class command carriers must be sustainable for long term engagements.

The main armament is a pair of M5 Glenmarc ADCs, forward mounted on the upper port and starboard hull tines. Despite the size of the weapons they are placed on specially design low profile swivel turrets capable of x:360, y:180, z:180 elevation; their targeting interface has been linked to the main Kuikku Nerai Tactical Array using a linkup system unique to the class.

The broadside batteries consist of 5000 Brenner T-27 Heavy Lancers, 2500 on each side, each on an internal ball mount allowing 90:90:90 elevation. The batteries are formed into decks, sectors and sections; each section consisting of 10 Lancers linked to the same targeting subsystem allowing a single fire control team to aim, prep and fire all 10 at once. Batteries are linked using the Kuikku Nerai Tactical Array, allowing a central fire control team on the command deck to not only centrally direct the ship's fire power but also monitor fire control and the effects of the weapons on their targets.

The Close Support Array consists of around 8000 fully automated J-36 Light Lancers which are built in batteries designed to target smaller craft which come into close proximity with the ship. Rather than an offensive tool these guns are purely for defensive purposes; in some strategies they are used to supplement the fire power of the main armaments and broadside guns in attacking larger vessels at close range. Light Lancers by design are intended to target small craft, and have little effect on the heavier shields and thicker hulls of anything bigger than a frigate - however once the target's shields have been disabled they can prove highly effective at taking out enemy weapons and communications nodes.

The Defence Guns on the Syèl Mato Class are Gèp 2.4 Gatter arrays which are set to an independent targeting array, however it is possible for crewmen to take manual control of individual guns as need arises. The general tactic with the Gatter arrays is area saturation; 2.4 Gatters are ideal for targeting Gunboats and Corvettes with a high degree of accuracy, however lack the tracking capability to effectively target fighters and interceptors while on automated targeting. As a result individual batteries can be switched over to saturation and predictive targeting following the theory that the more shots are fired into an area the more likely it will be to score a hit; if switched over to manual targeting then 2.4 Gatters are more than capable of effectively targeting individual fighter depending upon the skill of the gunner, however since guns are switched singularly and not in batteries this is approach requires a heavy investment of crew.

Orbital Bombardment is the Syèl Mato Class' great strength; armed with three gunnery decks running along the underside of the ship parallel to one another, each containing 400 M22 Glenmarc guns in Matrices of 20 guns each. Each deck is subdivided into 20 sectors of 20 guns (1 Matrix) each and typically requires a crew of at least 40 per sector to maintain optimum fire efficiency. Because the Glenmarc OBM design does not feature autoloading capabilities work in the OBM decks is challenging manual labour, so sector crews often run in excess of 60 personnel. The M22 is designed for saturation effect, being as individual guns are not so powerful, and despite their smaller calibre are mounted on the same type of mounting as is found on the heavier models; this in dire emergencies it is possible for the OBMs to be used against larger starships, at the risk of exposing the weaker underside of the hull to enemy fire. M22s require that Voidshields be dropped in the areas through which the projectiles must pass in order to avoid self inflicted overload.

Every external gun on the ship is fitted, either directly or through interface, with the Kuikku Nerai Tactical Array. The Kuikku Nerai Tactical Array is a high powered program housed within dedicated processors which are a partitioned part of the ship's central software systems and AI; as such every gun on the ship can be directly controlled, through the array, from the weapons control pit on the command deck. This extraordinary degree of fine control is one of the hallmarks of many Arcadian ships, however despite the recent design of the ship the Syèl Mato Class does not feature the latest version of the software and still requires human interface in order to function properly on a shipwide level; as such a series of human interface savants must be hardwired into the ship through advanced cybernetics.

The primary shielding system on board is handled by a central Testudo array which has an integrated Mèt Charpantye interface to handle the Type 29 Ballistic Shields. This heavily interfaced and cross-compatible system has proven to be highly effective in field tests and combat situations; due to the interlinked and overlapping design of Arcadian shield arrays the combined resilience of the Syèl Mato Class command carrier is considerable.

A notable flaw does exist in the design of the shields on the underside of the carrier; due to the wide angling required on the shielding systems to cover the expansive bulk of the ship the void and ballistic shields must be disabled while orbital bombardment is underway, leaving the lower hull dangerously exposed to incoming heavy weapons fire. Though continued development has been underway since the Syèl Mato Class first entered service the Mèt Charpantye Corporation, and Arcadian Military Research Division have yet to produce a viable solution to this problem. Other than this the shielding coverage is rated excellent by the Arcadian Navy who continues to utilise the class and has many more under construction; it is expected that in the next ten years a further 15 will be built.

The Kotori Class is a classic model of light carrier which served as the workhorse carrier of the Imperial Navy for decades before its collapse; it now serves in limited numbers in the Star Navy of the Commonwealth, supplementing the Indomitable class command carrier. However only two Kotori Class carriers have been built in twenty years as the CAF has stated it intends to maintain the Kotori Class which are currently in service for as long as is feasible and then phase the class out altogether.

Design History
The Kotori Class was designed by the renowned Arcadian shipwright Todo Tameshima for use as a supplementary carrier in the Imperial Navy, it was the last military craft designed by Tameshima and entered service 112 years ago. Since then the operating software and computers have been upgraded several times, though the core design and hardware remains the same. The Kotori Class was commissioned to replace the older Plato Class carriers which were aging rapidly leaving a hole in the Imperial Navy's forces which needed to be filled.

The Cursor Class light fighter is designed for air and space superiority as well as precision close air support for infantry forces on the ground. Originally built as the Type 22 Tactical Air Supremacy Craft it was later adapted and refitted as the Cursor Class Fighter, capable of atmospheric, orbital and space combat. Naturally the small frame that the Cursor is built on does not lend itself well to independently entering and exiting the atmosphere, as such in order to make the transition safely it must be held in a fighter entry pod; these pods contain between 10 and 20 fighters and are designed to enter the atmosphere and then release the fighters into the air. Because the range of a Cursor Class is quite limited these pods are necessary to collect and refuel them periodically and thus must remain in the atmosphere until recalled to the parent vessel. When in space the fighters can be launched directly from the flight decks without the need for an entry pod.

Armed with a powerful 40mm bicannon which fires either exploding or plasma-burn shells; fitted with an autoloader it can switch between the two at the flick of a switch from the main cockpit. The bicannon is ideal for fighter to fighter combat, especially given its advanced tracking system and targeting interface; not only this but with the addition of a defensive rotorgun it can defend itself from fighters attacking on its tail. The dual side mounted swatter pods are primarily for infantry support combat, providing light precision bombardment on key targets such as enemy strong points and armour. The swatter pods fire plasma-burst nano-missiles, effective against solid and organic targets as well as most shields, however they are not ideal for fighter to fighter combat as the projectile moves too slowly and lacks the ability to adjust course once fired.

The shields featured on the Cursor Class provide modest protection, and are primarily intended to defend against light fighters and ground fire; though they house a three layered shield network like the much larger Arcadian vessels the shield strength combined is previously stated, modest at best. The Cursor is not intended for sustained combat and relies greatly on its speed and agility in order to avoid taking damage. The hull is built from 20cm thick Arcadian Bondalloy which can repel most small weapons fire but suffers against heavier guns or armour piercing ammunition.

The CSPAR-5 is a caseless solid projectile assault rifle (C.S.P.A.R.) which uses an energy-transfer electro-magnetic firing mechanism to project Hyper Dense Composite Plasma-Burn ammunition at extreme velocities towards the target with only moderate recoil. The CSPAR-5, better known as the Casper 5, was designed by Heinrich Ingals of for the ZetaResh Corporation which has subsequently been put into mainstream mass production for the Arcadian military as their standard issue service rifle.

The aim of the designer was to provide a versatile assault weapon which was suited to a variety of situations and could be efficiently and considerably modified with numerous attachments which allow it to be used for numerous different combat roles. Since it uses a powerful electro-magnetic firing mechanism which is powered by a kinetic transfer generator the Casper can fire 600 rounds before the lo-fusion packs which are loaded into the stock, run out of power and need to be replaced. It also does not needed to abject spent ammunition casings since the ammunition it fires doesn't require said casings in order to properly operate.

In essence the electro-magnetic firing mechanism makes the Casper a fully automatic hand held rail gun; but the mechanism itself is not the main source of the weapon's power or versatility; Rail Guns are typically excellent armour piercing weapons but with a standard load they only have limited efficacy against advanced personal shielding devices. What makes the Casper different from a normal hand held rail gun is its ammunition which was specially designed for this rifle and has since been rolled out across all subsequent solid projectile weapons developed by Brenner Ballistics. Each bullet is made out of hyper dense tungsten-adamantite alloy and the tip containing a miniature plasma-burn core; on impact, even with shields, the core detonates spreading a tiny isolated slow burn plasma cloud over the area which make the weapon effective against shields and armour alike as well as flesh.

There are drawbacks to the HD CPB ammunition system, most notably that the ammunition itself is complex to construct, its also near useless against heavier shields and has low penetration on masonry and the like. The high density makes the ammunition more or less the same weight as 7.72mm cartridges and so heavier than its size would suggest; combine the weight of the ammunition with the weight of the gun itself and each soldier is carrying 9kg on their weapon alone and this is without any attachments and modifications. The weight issue is compounded by the need for lo-fusion packs which also need to be switched out.

The ZetaResh Fibre Plate Mk1 is the standard light battledress and armour presently used by the Arcadian Reich and Federation of Allied nations for their assault, recon and scout troopers. The suit is referred to as the PBA Mk1 by the military, but its production name is the ZR-FP Mk1. The Mk1 is a 1st generation Composite Fibre Plate Armour System design originally developed for the commercial market; an adapted version has since entered military use by the Arcadian Ranger, Scout and Marine Corps though it also sees limited use among naval personnel and in the Mobile Infantry.

Design
The Mk1 armour consists of a bodysuit, vest, helmet, gloves, armplates and legplates. The bodysuit made out of fibremesh ballistic cloth which is worn under the main armour vest; the fibremesh uses a similar material to that which is found in the armour plates themselves, however in a more flexible fibrous form. This bodysuit layer offers only minimal protection and is intended to absorb the damage for concussive blasts and flying shrapnel rather than direct gunfire.

The vest, helmet, arm and leg plate are made from Arcadian Bondalloy; a hardened chemical composite which is designed to absorb impacts for both solid projectile weapons and light energy weapons such as laser guns and the like. Because the armour is formed in a traditional manner it cannot be disabled like power armour and continues to function until severely damaged or destroyed. Arcadian Bondalloy has considerable strength but is also designed to flex somewhat so as not to shatter on impact.

The vest usually has a series of pouches and combat webbing placed over it to hold ammunition and other necessary supplies for the wearer, which is nothing new or innovative, however the helmet contains an integrated HUD which houses various vision settings, a compass, a thermometer, wind speed calculator, rangefinder and ammo counter. These helmets also feature a built in medium range communications system designed for subvocal squad communications. The gloves meanwhile are designed to dampen weapons recoil and prevent shaking and climb.

History
Designed by the ZetaResh Corporation in 54 12e for use by its own security personnel and private military contractors. Shortly thereafter it underwent military trials and was selected to replace the antiquated KBAS12 armour which had been used by the Arcadian military up to that point.

The original intent behind the development of the Mk1 was for it to be sold on the commercial market to mercenary organisations, private military contractors and the like. As such it was not built to specific military requirements but rather to the needs identified by the research and development department at the ZetaResh Corporate Research Facility on Iliad II. The resulting design pattern was highly versatile while still providing significantly more protection against laser shots.

When the efficacy of the Mk1 was compared with the KBAS12 it excelled in most areas and matched it in all others; in terms of direct ballistic impact resistance it proved equal to the task but offered far greater mobility and utility. The recoil gloves combined with the tactical HUD offer something that the KBAS12 lacked completely, active combat support which provided comfort to the wearer; the KBAS12 was a simple armour system and wasn't designed to enhance or support the abilities of the wearer.

The military version of the Mk1 is somewhat different from the commercial version; the original came as a basic suit with optional extras, whereas the military version comes with a standardised set of extras such as the combat webbing and harnesses which are fitted and designed to carry the other standard issue equipment which is issued to members of the Arcadian military.

Since its introduction to the Arcadian equipment roster in 76 12e the Mk1 has been used in almost every conflict that the Reich has been in in the years since, and even now centuries on it continues to be at the core of the Reich's infantry doctrine. All infantry and combat personnel are trained in the use of the Mk1 system in basic training, prior to training in other armour types.

Through this HUD which can be linked through a direct neural interface, the user is able to keep track of numerous combat variables as well as being able to quickly identify the extent of any wounds sustained including bone fractures.

Enhanced versions of the integrated software exist for specialists and field medics. The recoil gloves are built into the arm plates of the main suit and are capable 'locking' to further reduce weapon spread and climb. Additional equipment harnesses are integrated into the moulded plates of the armour to carry ammunition and other much needed battlefield supplies.

History
The Mk2 armour system was first produced by the ZetaResh Corporation in 109 12e after ten years of development in which numerous changes were made to the original design concept. At first the Mk2 was intended to be a heavier upgrade to the Mk1 which included many of the same features, but with enhanced protection and armour coverage; however the early models proved too bulky and heavy for regular usage during field tests and it was deemed too restrictive. It took many new design advancements before a workable model could be created.

The first working prototype of the Mk2 used powered systems to enhance joint movements and thereby provide greater mobility, however these systems were rejected by the military who feared such a design would lead to mobility issues if the powered systems were somehow disabled. The initial response was to provide advanced powered systems and convert the armour into a fully powered suit, however once again the military rejected the proposal as the armour itself could still be too easily disabled and required high levels of maintenance to keep running. Cybernetics were considered, but they too were rejected as cybernetic interface implants are too expensive and not cost effective.

Only when a separate research program developed biosynth suits as a means of providing medical support in high risk environs allowed the Mk2 program to move forward. The potential of the biosynth suit was such that it could enable enhanced movement within the bulkier Mk2 suit, however the designers chose to complement the biosynth improvements with more efficient armour design. The number of plates was increased while their size decreased, they were redesigned into an interlocking and overlapping design so that the armour shifts to provide maximum coverage without inhibiting movement.

The weapons support system is attached to the same pack which contains the power pack and carries a belt feed to the automated SMG which holds up to 120 rounds. The rest of the pack contains a versatile ammunition carrier and feed which can be modified to carry different ammunition types and weapons systems. Other than the weapons support system and external power pack the Mk3 is distinct from the Mk2 for its enclosed armour coverage and shield strength which are both significantly more comprehensive.

Glenmarc Naval Ordnance is one of the largest naval ordnance design and production corporations; founded in 939 10e by naval technician Illa 'Papa' Glenmarc after she patented the M1 Glenmarc Matter Modulator Cannon for use as the main armament on the Arcadian Gov. Mk2 Light Frigate. Since then the corporation has designed more than 150 different naval cannons for the Arcadian government and corporate commissions. Glenmarc primarily develops main armament and bombardment pieces with their M1 Glenmarc Broadside Battery proving to be a commercial failure as users found it far too unwieldy. Glenmarc weapons are characterised as being high powered, heavy and reliable but somewhat lacking in elegance or speed; seen favourably for bombardment and main armament purposes but little else.

Weapons

Designations
All Glenmarc weapons are identified by a Product Code rather than a name with the class of weapon indicated by the last 3 letters and the model indicated at the beginning. So the M5 Glenmarc ADC would be ADC Model 5, with ADC meaning Atomic Disruption Cannon.

Atomic Disruption Cannon
The Glenmarc ADC are actually poorly named since they specifically disrupt the atomic structure of the target any more than any other weapon; they are so named because of the reaction that occurs within the power cells when the gun is fired. ADCs are not connected to the main generator of the ship they are attached to and operate independently from their own rear generator which powers the targeting interface and motivators while AD cells are loaded into the loading chamber to power the gun itself. An AD cell can provide sufficient energy for between 16 and 24 shots depending upon the setting the weapon is calibrated for when firing.

ADCs typically have three settings; shieldbreaker, longstrike and hullbreaker. Shieldbreaker shots are highly energy intensive as they are designed purely for overloading the various shield systems found on most craft, however due to the high power dispersion on the blast they are only effective against light armour, thus a change of setting is required once the enemy shields are disabled. Longstrike shots are highly concentrated low energy bursts intended for quick engagement of fast moving targets; they are most effective at longer ranges. Hullbreaker are highly concentrated, high density blasts intended to tear open armoured hulls; due to the fact that these shots a slow to fire and high density they are less effective against fast moving or shielded targets.

Main Frigate Cannon
These are the natural evolution of the original M1 Glenmarc MMC; highly refined weapons designed for all range engagement and versatile target selection. Unlike the ADCs MFCs are fully integrated into the ships which caryr them. Presently only two models have been developed though there are rumours of a third currently in the design stages. The MFC is the lightest type of cannon in current production by Glenmarc; it is designed to be a hard hitting versatile main armament which does not need to switch setting in combat. Highly effective against most shields it suffers against ship hulls and on armoured targets often requires two or three direct hits to punch through.

Orbital Bombardment Matrix
These are the most popular of Glenmarc's products; an entirely self contained combat system, like the ADC, which can be fitted to the underside of almost any craft currently in use which is large enough to carry the weight. OBMs are designed to provide high powered fire support and tactical bombardment for ground assaults. At present there are 80 different models, of which only the M22, M23, M72 and M74 are presently in use.

Though extremely powerful these weapons have slow motivators and static targeting systems and thus are near useless against anything but stationary targets; this is because they are specifically designed for highly accurate fire at targets on a planet's surface. Except in the case of earlier models the targeting system is incapable of zooming out far enough to target anything nearby.

The M75-M80 OBM designs are presently still undergoing strenuous testing by both Glenmarc and the Arcadian government and are not yet available for purchase.

The ZRBAR-18 is a current production model of Bullpup Assault Rifle; it uses a standard recoil operated rotating bolt action and fires 5.56x45mm BBHV ammunition. The rifle was used by Arcadian Colonial troops in planetary defence scenarios and was designed to specification for the Arcadian military who refer to it as the Zurbar in military shorthand. The ZRBAR-12 was developed by Richard Cash of the ZetaResh Corporation in 285 4e and has since been put into mass production; the subsequent ZRBAR-13 and 14 failed to supersede it and both were found to have significant shortcomings compared to the ZRBAR-12, it has since been upgraded to the ZRBAR-18.

The Zurbar was developed with the intention of providing a simple, low maintenance firearm which could be mass produced and supplied by low-tech facilities. The weapon does not include any parts nor require any construction methods beyond the capability of any first world country and can be built in most metal workshops given the right equipment. The barrel is designed to be easily removed and replaced should it overheat and incorporates a cooling jacket as standard, though this is considered needless by most since the gun does not have a significant cooling problem. The firing action of the rifle is comparable to that seen on the Russian AK-74 except that it is mounted in a bullpup configuration; capable of firing fully automatic bursts at 690 rounds per minute.

Though designed to fire the Brenner Ballistic High Velocity ammunition the Zurbar can fire 5.56x45mm NATO since the two ammunition types are identical is size and shape; the only difference being the construction of the bullet and the materials used. BBHV ammunition causes significant wear on standard firearms however and though compatible with weapons other than those produced by Brenner Ballistics is not ideal - the Zurbar is constructed in such a way as to minimise this additional wear however remains comparably high maintenance.

Since its development in 285 4e the Zurbar has been exhaustively tested by the Colonial Military of the Promethiun Colony who subsequently adopted it as their service rifle, replacing the high maintenance and expensive Casper (CSPAR-5) which was used by Imperial Forces. A number of variants have also been produced featuring heavy barrels, extended barrels, expanded or stacked magazines, vertical foregrips and suppressors; the standard model features a variable optical sight which can be switched to night vision of flash suppression modes. A heavy frame 7.62mm rechamber with an extended heavy barrel and rear mounted drum magazine is also available as an infantry support LMG however this Zurbar-H variant has yet to enter widespread military use.

The Zurbar frame has also been used as the basis for a number of other bullpup weapon including a scaled down version which has been used as a 9mm submachine gun. On the whole the Zurbar is considered to be an accurate, efficient and reliable weapon although it has yet to see extensive combat usage in tropical climates; in temperate and arid climate with high dust saturation however it performs remarkably well for a weapon of this type.

The Praetorian Mk3 is the main battle tank of the Arcadian Imperial Army which was designed by Heidrick Muller of the ZetaResh Corporation in 322 12e. The Praetorian Mk3 is the direct successor of the Mk2, utilising a fully renovated hull and new integrated combat software, however it retains the original BTT6 turret which has been the trademark of the Praetorian line of tanks. The Mk3 was not commissioned by the Arcadian Imperial Military but was rather proposed as an upgrade replacement to the Mk2s which were already in service; despite initial resistance among several high ranking officers within the logistics arm of the Army the Mk3 was brought into active service in 328 12e.

Since its adoption as the Main Battle Tank of the Arcadian Reich the Praetorian Mk3 hull has become the standard MBT and ASV hull for all subsequent vehicles allowing for parts to be switched out between vehicles of varying types. The Mk3 also incorporates the improved ZR-MBT MA2h 120mm cannon, mounted on a BTT6 turret as its main armament, with a hull mounted ZR-MBT GG4h gatling gun as the secondary weapon and pintle mounted ZR CSPMG-90 for close support.

Originally designed for versatility the Praetorian Mk3 is only marginally heavier than the Mk2 and considerably more agile over difficult terrain, additionally the improved 10cm Arcadian Bondalloy armour structure makes it significantly more durable that the 8cm AAP plate of its predecessor. The Mk3 uses a ZR-MBT G4 generator for power which provides greater reliability and operational range than most other tanks of its class, however all of the tank's systems run off this generator which has been highlighted as a possible weakness to be addressed in future models.
