well in Rl its a quick and cheap option since most of its former european users have been giving them away.

On NS i would suspect going down the oplot road or even buying some of the vastly more poliferated (and thus likely cheaper) M1 Abrams.

Eh, I kinda wanted to avoid the Abrams, since it seems to be a little overused, and I'm not sure how well the gas turbine engire will operate in -30 degree fahrenheit weather.

EDIT: Also, would it be a good idea to take a Sheridan and give it a 90mm gun like the Eland?

thats an understandbale concern. To be honest i'm not aware of any huge issues with the Abrams in cold weather (providing you use JP8 or the F65 fuel blend rather than straight up diesel).

Why not go for 1:1 ration where basic unit is 4 tank platoon with two two vehicle wings with one MBT and one BMPT in each wing. To invoke sort ofly the old "female and male tank" concept?

Why not just do what I do and deploy a platoon of infantry with every tank company? That gets you roughly 1 squad per 4 tanks. And everyone knows that infantry is better at supporting tanks against other infantry than vehicles.

Because I tanks are working close enough with infantry, because I thought of giving such platoon to motorized bg.
And BMPT isn't acting as "tank support vehicle" in this setting.

Ummm...on what world was the JagdPanther based on the PzKpfw VI B chassis? That's the JagdTiger you're thinking of. The JagdPanther was based on the PzKpfw V Panther, and the only relation it had to the Tiger II was that it mounted the awesome 8.8cm L/71 PaK 43/1, basically the same gun as on the Tiger II.

It hit a gap in the frontal armor that wasn't armored well.

And the driver had his foot blown off iirc. Tank still could operate.

True, but only by using ammunition that had a tendency to veer off in any given direction after 200m, and only had a 5% chance of hitting a Tiger-sized target at 1000m, which, oh yeah, the Tiger was perfectly capable of shooting back those ranges.

Compare numbers of actual Tigers built to number of Fireflies built. Then factor in that a large portion of the Tigers and Panthers "killed" were simply abandoned by their crew after they broke down.
