Model 60

Caliber: 7.65x50mm

Range: 400 yards

Rate of Fire: Semi automatic

Magazine Capacity: 30

Designed as an emergency rifle for use with the Fordorsian militia, the Model 60 was first manufactured in 1960, after World War II had ended. During the war, resources to make equipment for regular soldiers were running low, so diverting raw materials to arm the Fordorsian population in case of an attack on the island was seen as wasteful. It was only after the war that supplies were stable enough for a new rifle to be made.
Over 200,000 Model 60's were made before a new model was designed for civilian use in 1965. This variant featured a wooden stock and handguard, as well as the original wooden grip.

I like.
A lot.

I might make something similar to this for my nation... but I'd rather just issue More of the 9.3X64 Mauser instead, why throw away when you can just store.

For sights, why not use a sight rib? Insanely simple to manufacture (which is what I'm getting from this rifle) and cheep too. Non adjustable, but having it fixed at 150-200m would give you a relatively good weapon for engagements to 300-400m.

Or do ghost rings. What you have now is fine however. Just a suggestion.

It works pretty damn well, it's very very good, and actually works better than you'd think. I mean when you think about it the accuracy of your super cheap mass produced barrels wouldn't be any worse off with that sort of sight.

I doubt there would be much of a difference in costs between a bead sight and the thing that I have, but adding a rib would definitely cost more.

They really don't cost much. Its a rather simple thing to make.

Generally yea, they are for close range and shotguns, but I can recall having fired a small number of rifles that had sight ribs. Form some reason fords newest rifle screams sight rib to me.

Looks a bit big for a submachinegun, what calibre is it? Drum mags aren't usually used on SMGs, either. I'd suggest getting rid of the optic if it's a survival-type weapon to save on weight and maybe add some sort of muzzle device. :)

ever seen a steel stamp?
Ever seen a milling machine?
watch how they each work, and well you'll see the result. mills take a lot longer, and requires a lot more supervision (I have actually used one) and steel stamping is easy as shit and quick.
I mean A sight rib isn't to difficult. And well most sights are much harder to manufacture and usually are milled. and Laser CNC's aren't really available.

@puz, thanks :)

You think a rib spanning the length of the barrel or just where the sight would be? Both would be ugly I reckon.

I don't know what exactly ADAC was designed to do, or what It is used for, but I want one.

ADAC was designed in the late 2200s as part of Anaplian Cybertechnologies' arsenal (the same Anaplian CT of ADR-1 fame). It's a mounted autocannon used in fortifications or as a vehicle weapon; the name initially stood for Area Denial AutoCannon, although many modern references call it the Anaplian Defence AutoCannon.
Unlike the ADR-1, ADAC has received very few changes as part of its resurrection into Corporate use - the weapon was already solidly constructed and extremely powerful, so the main upgrade is a new optic suite. ADAC is most commonly found mounted on Paramour APCs and Tiger-XI MBTs, with some weapons refitted for use as wrist guns for Golem Heavies.

Edit: And you can have one. Or two. So long as you promise to use ADAC with the appropriate caution (i.e. none at all and with a psychopath at the controls).

Use an F1 SMG style folding rear sight, but make it so that it can fold down over the ejection port. That way it can protect the open receiver when the rifle's cocked (I'm assuming it's open bolt), and it can have different peep hole heights for different ranges.

The wooden thing would be the carrying handle lying flat in the way of the bolt, and to be honest I'm kinda bad with proportions so I just picked a random number :s What does it look like it'd hold to you? 7.3mm rounds, so I guess it wouldn't hold 34 in that mag but eh.

It's really not that much weight with the rest of the crap you carry out on patrol, but that might just be me. Issuing a sidearm with a couple of magazines as well as extra ammo for your rifle is a completely logical, and to some, an obvious thing to do.

If you are in a fireteam, there is literally no reason to switch to a handgun for any reason whatsoever. Close-quarters? Use your rifle: it's more accurate and is going to be more powerful. Medium range? Long range? Take a guess. Rifle jams? You've got 4-5 other guys shooting at the enemy while you tap-rack-bang.

The only time you would need a handgun is if your primary rifle became entirely unserviceable, and if that is the case, one of two things has happened: you have died or your military done did fucked up and issued shitty rifles.

I'm going for a Cold-War style, oppressive, failing socialist-like state who can barely afford to develop and produce decent weapons in the first place, so a Magpul Masada would be a bit out of place :P

You could always look at the Vz. 58, I suppose. They fit the Cold War bill, anyway: Czechoslovakia still uses them even.

I actually sort of knew that. Im familiar with it from just shooting, and I <3 sightribs.

Sight ribs are going to be on all the rifles I end up drawing for this precise reason.

I, for one, saw the BAR ancestry immediately.

A could of things: what's the wood thing that goes part way over the top of the ejection port, and just how thin is the base of your round? There's no way you're getting 34 rounds of even 5.56x45mm into that mag.

20 rounds, assuming a similar base diameter to the 7.62 NATO.

Live fire is not an effective means of communication.
