In general, it's covered under freedom of speech. However, we make exceptions for some extreme forms on the principle that freedom of speech does not protect conspiracy to commit or abet crime as a form of free expression.
- Does your nation have any laws regulating it?
Yes. Per the limits on free speech, snuff films, films of actual forcible rape, child porn using actual children under the age of consent, and necrophilia and bestiality under certain circumstances are illegal. This is often hard to prove, however, because the prosecution has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant knew the crimes involved were real. Also, local communities are permitted to restrict the use of adult content in public advertising and proximity of adult - oriented businesses to schools, residential communities, etc., within national guidelines.
- Is it a large industry or important to the economy in any way?
Yes. It's not in the top 10, but it's large enough it's significant.
- Are certain variations of it considered worse then others?
Yes. The illegal forms are generally considered the worst, especially snuff films. Beyond that, even some rabid consumers of "ordinary" porn regard certain forms of fetish porn as disgusting, though not everyone agrees on which forms are worse.
