Federal News and Communications Agency
of the United Socialist States of the African Continent

The Federal News and Communications Agency (FNCA) of the United Socialist States of the African Continent (USSAC) is a federal structure which posts federal government news bulletins, announcements and public communiques. Occasionally, topical special items will be posted aggregating a sample of media coverage of the item's topic within the USSAC. The FNCA is not a forum for official diplomatic communication between the USSAC and other nations. Nations interested in establishing diplomatic contact with the USSAC are referred instead to the USSAC International Relations Commissariat.

Federal Congress Passes Palestinian National Liberation Act
After lengthy debate, the Federal Congress today passed the Palestinian National Liberation Act, which establishes the Palestine Solidarity Comittee (PSC) as a structure within the International Relations Commissariat. The PSC is mandated with building relations between organisations of the Palestinian working class and the USSAC. Beyond its own financial requirements, the act endows the PSC with A£8,000,000 annually towards providing support, financial or otherwise, to such organisations in solidarity with their struggle against the Israeli apartheid state. The act includes provisions stressing the class nature of national liberation struggles, and requires that the PSC actively works towards linking the Palestinian struggle for national liberation with the joint struggle of the Palestinian and Israeli working classes against capitalist exploitation, in line with the constitutionally enshrined principle of proletarian internationalism. The final vote count was 387 for, 11 opposed, and 2 abstentions.

"Ermelo Ripper" Leaves Residents Of Small Town Living In Fear
The brutal murders of nine people, including five high school students, over the past five days in the small town of Ermelo in South Africa have left the local community living in fear. These are the first murders on record in the town since 1974. The South African State Police have established an Investigation Committee to look into the case. The murders follow a consistent pattern: the victims were all between the ages of 18 and 25, they were all dismembered and disemboweled, and the killer left cryptic messages written in their blood at each crime scene. The killer has been dubbed the "Ermelo Ripper" by the local media. Detective Bongani Khumalo, chair of the Investigation Committee, has said that "at present we have no leads, and no suspects. Our forensics team have begun analysing the data gathered at the murder scenes, and the Investigation Committee is determined that the perpetrator of these heinous crimes be brought to justice. We call on any members of the public who may have potentially useful information to come forward and help us end the reign of terror that has descended on Ermelo".

As "Ermelo Ripper" Strikes Again, Police Announce Progress Being Made In Investigation
The South African State Police announced today that the Investigation Committee established to look into the "Ripper" murders in Ermelo have discovered blood at one of the crime scenes which did not match the victim's. It is believed the blood may belong to the killer. This announcement came shortly after a jogger stumbled onto a tenth murder scene at a local park. The jogger, who has declined to give his name to the media, stated that the sight and smell of the rotting body left him physically sick, and is undergoing trauma counselling. Meanwhile, the Assembly of the Ermelo Commune has voted overwhelmingly to dispatch a deputation to the Federal Government, requesting a Section 6* order from the Federal Congress. This would mandate that every resident of Ermelo submit to DNA testing, possibly allowing police to identify a suspect. Says the chair of the Communal Executive Committee, Dumisani Ndlovu, "this is an extreme measure, of course, but at the moment it seems to be the only way we'll ever be able to put this dark chapter in our history behind us". Bongani Khumalo, chair of the police Investigation Committee, has lauded the Assembly's move.
*Section 6 of the Criminal Investigations Act of 1985, as amended

International Relations Commissariat Blasts Empire Of Kulim
The Empire of Kulim has recently mandated the death penalty for the "crimes" of being homosexual or atheist. Melissa Mbah, International Relations Commissar of the USSAC, has released a statement saying: "The government of the United Socialist States of the African Continent unequivocally condemns the latest regressive steps by the Empire of Kulim. Freedom of belief and sexual orientation are principles we hold dear. There can be no justifying the continued oppression of LGBTI people, or the killing of people on the basis of their beliefs. As a nation dedicated to the principles of revolutionary internationalism, we open our borders to all refugees fleeing Kulim's repression, and are willing to host any organisations from Kulim which have been forced into exile."

New Nuclear Power Plant For Egypt
The Al-Iskandariyah Nuclear Power Plant near Alexandria in Egypt State has finally been completed after five years. This promises to end Egypt's electricity woes, which have seen rolling blackouts throughout the state for the past six years, and half the state's budget being set aside for electricity imports from the rest of the USSAC. The plant is slated to be activated at 23:00 tonight (Central African Standard Time).

Israeli Troops Mass Near Sinai Border
In response to the Federal Congress's passing of the Palestinian National Liberation Act of 2013, the State of Israel has begun massing troops near its border with the USSAC. It is currently unclear whether this is mere brinksmanship, or whether Israel intends to launch a pre-emptive military attack on the USSAC. The Federal Executive Committee has responded by raising the USSAC's Defence Alertness Level to DAL-3 (High Alert). Three USSAC army battalions have been moved into Sinai, while the Mediterranean Fleet has been massed in Port Said.

The Federal News and Communications Agency advises the NeoSpanish Empire that it is not authorised to communicate with foreign states or non-USSAC based organisations. The USSAC Federal Executive Committee and the International Relations Commissariat alone are mandated with that prerogative. We are only authorised to redirect you either to the International Relations Commissariat thread, or to the NS telegram system.
