It's not the roaches that will get him. It's the human sized mosquitoes that drill into your skull and suck out your brain and than implant your body with their larva for reproduction just for good measure.

I'd say it's the space locusts (from outer space™) that will need incinerating with incendiary mortar rounds.

Locusts are fancy but ultimately not that scary. All they do is eat your flesh.
But imagine instead a flying bug whose wings flap with the sound of an aircraft engine. It's eyes like onto a fly watching in every direction, seeking with sight far into the infra red, leaving you nowhere to hide. They fly in swarms, hundreds, thousands maybe. Breaking through windows, roofs and doors, bursting into garages and playgrounds. With every beat of your heart you draw them to you. With every breath you take the cloud of hot air screams like a dinner call. And when they find you, and they will there is nothing to do but scream as they pierce their long feeding spike through your skull and suck you up. And than they lay their eggs inside your shriveled corpse. So that when they hatch the little ones have something to eat.

I meant Space Locusts as in the grimdark version (Tyranids, Zerg, etc).
There you stand, knowing this is the last stand. There is no escape, no retreat. You know that even if every one of you kill hundreds of them, they will just eat both their and your dead after the battle to replenish their forces. On the horizon, a teeming horde of running and flying insects blackens the ground and the sky entirely as they approach, the wind carrying the sound of millions and millions of these inhuman beasts chittering. You've spent the last year desperately trying to fight them off, only for them to completely ignore any losses they've suffered, while you have steadily been bled dry by wave after wave of expendable footsoldiers that are replenished by consuming their dead. In your hands, you have a rifle that might perhaps pierce the shell of their smallest footsoldiers, and you're wearing armour that might as well be a paper napkin for all the good it does. You've seen comrades die, devoured from within by flesh-eating larvae fired from their biological weapons. You've seen massive beasts shrug off impacts from tank cannons and tear those tanks open with claws larger than your entire body. You've seen massive fortifications with thousands and thousands of guns get overrun by enough bodies to literally clog their barrels. You've seen superhuman killing machines clad in half a ton of steel get slaughtered by the dozen just trying to slow down their charge. You know that for all that you are still putting up a defense, there is nothing left, no hope of victory. Your homeworld is going to be gone within a week, and all that will be left is a barren rock.
And then they're upon you.
