The official language of Vilamoska is Vilamyś, a West Germanic-based creole with substantial West Slavic influence. It is related to the Wilamowicean language.

German, Polish, and Russian are widely spoken as second languages and by German-, Polish-, and Russian-Vilamoskans. There are ethnic communities speaking Ukrainian, Slovak, and Yiddish as well.

English is the official language and all citizens are required to have mastered the language.

With that said, the global economy necessitates that our skilled laborers have mastered other languages (such as Chinese and Spanish.) These languages are offered free of charge in school and in higher education and a financial award / stipend is attached to learning and mastering them as second or third languages.

Languages of your nation?

Postby Parhe » Mon Nov 24, 2014 3:45 am

Instead of being done on a regional or bezirk basis, all official languages are country wide but on different tiers, demonstrating different levels of use; all paperwork and government websites and documents must be made available in all 657 official languages regardless of tier.. English, German, Korean, and Parhasque are Tier One Official Languages, spoken each by nearly the entire population and given the designation if spoken fluently by over forty percent of the population and requested (while several languages meet the requirements, none have been requested); all pubic signs must be written in all four languages, all four languages are taught as part of compulsorily education, and migrants for most visa categories must pass a fluency test in at least one of the tests. Tier Two Official Languages, of which there are ninety two, are natural languages still spoken in the Holy Parhic Empire that cannot be traced abroad and/or have been documented in the nation's present territory for the past thousand years. Tier Three Official Languages are any other natural language present spoken by at least a hundred thousand speakers fluently, with five hundred and sixty one languages being designated as such. Any individual being fluent in no language but official ones (regardless of Tier level or number) can apply for citizenship, usually with success. Only difference in law of Tier Two Official Languages and Tier Three Official Languages is that the Holy Parhic Empire must establish and fund domestic language regulators for all Tier Two Official Languages (as well as Tier One Official Languages) but with Tier Three Official Languages may adhere to foreign language regulators; if one active deemed to have adequate funding does not exist the Holy Parhic Empire must still establish them.

Spanish is the official language and the language of business, government, and education.

The indigenous languages are Almori, Xuna, and Polmani, have undergone very successful revivals since the early 20th century, each having more than a million speakers and being co-official languages in several states (Almori in Quelalmor, Sembrigo, and Nueva Gales; Xuna in Bascáril and Quelxuna; and Polmani in Polmania, Sembrigo, and Loniago.)

The most popular foreign language is English, although it is rarely spoken natively. Interestingly, there are pockets of natively French-speaking communities in Nueva Gales, Felipiana, and Río Verde states, and of natively Greek-speaking communities in Colonia Inglesa state.

In primary education, Spanish is a required subject and other languages (usu. the co-official language of the state and English, sometimes French) are optional, but in secondary education in most states, pupils are required to take English or another language.

The primary language in Dinake is Dinakese. Spanish and Yiddish are offered in schools, owing to our Jewish minority population and predominately Spanish-speaking neighbors, however neither has reached co-official status.

An older style of Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic are all common. Some people know other languages such as German, Russian, Japanese, and English but that is considered a hobby.

Most members of the Assembly have a good grasp on Russian, spoken Japanese, and English.

All Eldar speak Eldarin almost exclusively. They are aware of, and often know many other languages, but these are only considered to be intellectual curiosities unless used for interacting with others species.

Avandic is the official language of Avanden. National Council sessions are required to be conducted in Avandic and government papers and documents on the national level are also required to be in Avandic. Most provinces also conduct business in Avandic, however some provinces have other official languages. For example Riddaren uses Riddaric. All government posted signage, such as warning signs and highway signs, are required to be written in Avandic.

Most Machinae communicate via Erlang-style message passing piped through encrypted and digitally-signed network connections. Should wireless communication between two Machinae fail for whatever reason, most Machinae are equipped to fall back to either a direct physical connection or to some more exotic form of communication (including via "auditory" means, usually with high-frequency kinetic waves) with a standardized encoding scheme in order to restore the expected peer-to-peer network topology.

A typical Machina - seeing little need to communicate with biologicals - will rarely bother with downloading the necessary software to encode and decode Machinosus to/from biological languages, with Latin being the sole exception. However, most biological languages have programs available and ready for download via the Machinosus peer-to-peer network.
