I had not considered immigration policy. We would generally welcome outsiders into our society as long as they were respectful of our culture. Granting citizenship wouldn't be off the table, be we do have a mandatory national service requirement to consider. I will have to look and see how RL countries with similar requirements deal with it.

Until extremely recently you had to be born in Radiatia.

These days, you have to go through the extraordinarily difficult (near impossible) process of becoming a permanent resident, remain a permanent resident for 5 years and then score 100% on this citizenship test.

To become a citizen of the Commonwealth involves a long-winded process.

First you have to emigrate to the Commonwealth, though that revolves around getting through a point based selection system. You get scored upon useful abilities, skills and resources. Once you get over a certain threshold you're allowed to emigrate to the Commonwealth, though the threshold and points awarded are changed on a yearly basis according to labour requirements. The threshold is increased on an annual basis, this makes sure that new immigrants were seen in a positive light.

Once excepted the new immigrant then faces a seven year probationary period before becoming a fully-fledged citizen, this is seen as a hard won privilege. Only full citizens can vote in Commonwealth elections, so new arrivals face little in the way of rights or job prospects but the Commonwealth runs sponsored work programmes to lessen the burden a bit. Technically after seven years they will be fully enfranchised, however the point at which that clock starts is when they are registered, not when they arrive.

To be naturalized you must live in Auzkhia for six months then you take language courses and a small citizenship test. This can be bypassed through military service. If you complete six months of military service you are offered citizenship and exempt from conscription. You can easily get Auzkhian citizenship if you married an Auzkhian or if your parents were born here.

Becoming a confederal citizen is relatively easy. Whenever an immigrant enters the country and wishes to obtain the Yorkopolitan nationality, he/she will first get an extensive study on the Yorkonian, Yorkopolitan Dutch and Yorkonish languages, after which he/she will be examined in said languages. After having learned the languages, the person may apply for a citizenship, providing legal documents of the nation to have previously lived in.

After said processes have taken place, the citizen will be able to choose one of the autonomous republics to live in, and can then move there.

We boiled it down to a simple three step process:

1. Fill out some forms, one of which gives us the right to perform a background check.
2. Take an oath, denouncing the old country and swearing undying loyalty to us.
3. Congratulations, your a taxpayer!

One note, it is illegal (considered treason) for an immigrant-citizen to show any public support or loyalty to their old nation. This means any public display of the flag from the country they originated from, publicly singing the national anthem of the country they originated from, publicly show support of the government, sports teams. millitary (for example) of the country they originated from, etc. is illegal and may be subject to prosecution.

To become a citizen under the glorious Hatsune Miku, one must pass a series of tests, first, they have to apply at our embassies at their nation, the applications will be reviewed the supercomputer located at the immigration department to check for basic requirements, the Ruling Empress can reject the applications at this stage. If they past the first test, they will have to come to the Holy Temple of Hagiwarashi in the middle of nowhere (200 km north of Hagiwara City, Formerly known as Komsomolsk-on-Amur), there is a railway that takes them to the Temple, but it ends 15 km before reaching the Temple, to preserve the purity of the Holy Ground, the train only departs once every two days at 01:31 am. They must go there during winter to prove their devotion and mental strength. Where they will have to stand in front the sculptures located in the vast open plaza before the entrence of the Temple, worship them full heartedly for an hour or two. Then they will be admitted into the Holy Temple, to kneel and worship our goddess, while our goddess will deliver her message through a supercomputer if their application is accepted or not, she will judge by their potential to contribute to society and their faithfulness. Successful applicants will then be invited to a glamorous, lavishing party, symbolising they saw the true light, responded to the callings and this is the end of their suffering, the start of their new prosperous life under the glorious Hatsune Miku. Sledges will take them to the railway station.

Older successful individuals will be permitted to attend the tests at temples in Hokkaido, if the Ruling Empress expressively expressed her permission.

There is no such concept.

Whether you were born here originally, or came here later from somewhere else, you are not any different under the law. You're as much a citizen as anyone else.

The one caveat being that you can't vote in national elections until you've lived in Tsvarchi for five years uninterrupted (unless you were born here to begin with, then you can go right ahead and vote as soon as you're out of the womb).

To become a Bürger, a citizen, as opposed to a Einwohner, a resident, one has to to actively choose to do so and pursue a specific set of actions. First and foremost, one has to declare Prut allegiance, then be incorporated into at least one community, serve the entire nation for at least two years, usually this is military service, and continue contributing to the community, usually by paying taxes or in a similar financial manner. Residency, nationality, citizenship, or any other legal status plays no matter in this decision; anyone can become a Prut citizen (or resident) if one is so inclined. Here's how the process starts:

1. Declaration of Prut allegiance

Declare publicly and officially in front of at least one Prut citizen your allegiance to the Prut, Prut cause, and/or Prut Meritocracy. For this declaration to be valid, it must be out of free will and completely voluntary without any coercion, pressure, external influences, or any other form of force. The witness signs a legal document called a Bündiserklärung, thus making the declaration official. Usually, this is done over a diplomat or similar figure of authority, but any citizen can do it. The individual is now considered a Prutfreund, a Friend of Prut.

2. Incorporation

A Prutfreund has the right to to request to be legally incorporated into any community of his choice for which he fulfills the necessary prerequisites. This can be any social, socioeconomic, sociopolitical, or any other legal Prut corporation. The easiest way to become incorporated is to either become a resident, by moving into the Prut Meritocracy and becoming a member of a local residential community, thus becoming incorporated into it, or by professional incorporation. Professional incorporation means that a Prutfreund joins either the Prut Hanse in general, or any other professional association, like the Ärztebund (Collective of Doctors) if one is a doctor or active in a medical field, or the Sportlerbund (Collective of Athletes) if one is an athlete, etc. An incorporated Prutfreund has essentially the same rights, obligations, and benefits as any resident of the Prut Meritocracy. He is, however, still not a Bürger.

3. Public service

Once the voluntary declaration is made and an individual has been incorporated into the collective body of Prut, said individual is eligible for public service. The entire process until this crucial part is considered a private matter of the individual in question. Any further legal changes require participation in the public life, service, and process. Should the individual seek to continue, he has to complete the mandatory two years of public service; this is almost always military service. There are two essential prerequisites for public service:

- Voluntary and free choice to participate
- Finished some form of secondary education within a system/institution recognised by the Prut Meritocracy

The first requirement is completed by proving in front of an investigation committee that there was no external force or coercion playing a role in the choice to complete public service. The second is fulfilled by either presenting the necessary documents and/or credentials, or taking and passing an exam within a recognised Prut institute of learning to obtain the verification. Until secondary education is not completed, a person may not attempt his or her public service. The first requirement may be waived in some circumstances, e.g. wartime conscription and similar events.

4. Continual contribution

After the mandatory two years of service are completed, a Prutfreund gains the right to declare Prut nationality and Prut citizenship. Conferring of nationality and/or citizenship is not automatic, to avoid conflict with systems and nations disallowing their nationals to hold multiple nationalities/citizenship. The Prut Meritocracy does not, and cannot, limit the number of nationalities and citizenship a person may have. Regardless of external circumstances, a person gains nationality/citizenship by making the Oath of Citizenship, the Bürgereid . This is considered an inviolable legal contract between an individual and the Prut society and polity. Citizenship confers on an individual certain inalienable rights and dignity, while obliging said individual to follow a strict code of conduct and rules. The citizenship remains valid for as long as a citizen continues to contribute to Prut society, usually by paying taxes, participating in the political/administrative process and public life in general, public service, community activity, or any combination of the above mentioned.

As such, one could become a Prut citizen and national without ever stepping on Prut sovereign territory, and live his or her entire life without ever entering the Prut Meritocracy. The only requirement is a conscious, voluntary choice and desire to do so, and continual wish to continue doing so.

It's probably best to not become a citizen; immigrants and migrants don't normally need visa's because 250land and Vera is a 'migrant entrepôt' and relies on people working and travelling as a large part of the economy.

The best bit of being a citizen is social welfare, there are only about four million citizens in 250land covered (not counting the annexed populations) there's plenty to go around.

On the surface it seems simple, take the oath of allegiance to the Grand Duke in front of a qualified official, or be born a citizen, either by jus soli or jus sanguine. However, neither are absolute. Actually, there are different classes of citizen. All Caxans are considered subjects of the Grand Duke. Citizenship developed out of the burger class in cities. So, most people are citizens of their district, which can be either urban or rural, and that is how they exercise their rights and obligations as citizens. Peers, who make up the upper house have special status and holding a peerage makes you a subject of the Grand Duke automatically. Residency acts as a sort of secondary citizenship with both less rights and obligations and is fairly easy to obtain, but also requires an oath and is also regulated by district. Dual nationality is tolerated, but one is expected to put the Grand Duchy first. Only those reaching the age of majority can be citizens, otherwise they derive their status from their parents.

Limitations on jus soli: unregistered births, births to criminals, diplomats, children of foreign residents under certain residency permits, children of parents from enemy nations, children who live abroad or have two foreign parents
Limitations of jus sanguine: adoption, children of enemies of the state, children born abroad

These limitations aren't absolute, but bar the citizenship from automatically being granted. Those limited have to apply for citizenship, and are only denied if reason can be shown not to.

Be born to at least one dudite citizen, be a guardianless minor on Woahdude soil, or apply to immigrate.

Woahdude's got pretty open borders, you can just drive over after a quick inspection for weapons or other contraband, but citizenship or a work visa is required to work or access social welfare.

work visas are for people who wish to work in woahdude for a predetermined amount of time, but don't plan on staying. Immigration is fairly easy, as long as you don't have any outstanding criminal records, have documentation of citizenship from another nation (or documentation of Refugee status, for those without a home country) and can speak English, Spanish, or Russian, you can come in. The process is streamlined a bit for people going from work visa to citizenship, since a work visa requires basically the same documentation as immigration.

The word "citizen" doesn't really mean anything in Winland. It basically just takes walking over the border.
In other words — and this is the rock solid principle on which the whole of the Corporation's Galaxy-wide success is founded — their fundamental design flaws are completely hidden by their superficial design flaws.
