Everyton was offically named the "Pretty and Bohemian City of Everyton" partly on the rationale that including the word 'pretty' would discourage the immigration of hypermasculine or 'macho' men, and partly because the electorate just liked that name.

Swearing is completely legal and there is currently a law enforced that no restrictions may be made on swearing.

It is common to hear swears while walking down a street in Russia.

Our country is entirely devoted to ice hockey. Seriously, it was recorded as the 4th largest religion in last year's polls.

Federative post-collapse society. The collapse eradicated class and previous institutions. Made money mean a lot less. Exists in the 2090s and had just begun learning the management of a para-industrial, post-financial capitalist, partially resource-based economy after being agrarian since forever.

Ashane once had a leader so insane, that he commended that a statue be made in his likeness. Two days after it was completed, however, he had it torn down because it gave him a weird look!

Due to the prominence of tobacco cultivation in Vetalia's economy, it is expressly forbidden for any municipality, province or the national government to pass laws restricting public use of tobacco products or to raise tobacco taxes.

We are actually in a virtual reality, inside another virtual reality, which is based on a backwater planet nominally affiliated to the Coalition; not that anyone here is actually aware of that.

Some police stations in Minroz use geese instead of guard dogs to keep watch at night. Geese are very territorial and have better vision than humans.

In 1755 the Parliament of Wintanceastre officially passed the Calendar Act of 1755; officially changing the first day of the year from 25 March to 1 January. In many rural areas of New Forest, Northshire (today Northshore and Nightwell), Midlands and and Ashdown (Today Highland Forest) villagers continued to use 25 March as the start of the year well into the 1800's. Up until the 1890's rural graveyards often had dates, such as 23 March, 1804, rather than 23 March, 1805. In 1894 the government passed a law stating all birth and death reports had to follow the official Calendar Act, thereby forever ending the old calendar practice.

The Tree Point Riot (or Rebellion) of 1770 began over a snowball.

The Governor of the day, Christopher Ward, had been passing increasingly harsh measures against person and property without consulting the House of Assembly. His attempts to establish something of a feudal system in Stormaen met with anger. During a state procession through Georgetown, a member of the crowd pelted Governor Ward with a snowball. The Governor immediately ordered his soldiers to retaliate.

Eventually, a quiet housewife named Susanna Horne was arrested for the crime. The colonial authorities had no intention of keeping her detained but Governor Ward insisted someone pay for the "attempt on his life" and sentenced Horne to death.

The following riots saw Fort Tree Point stormed, Horne freed (and made into a heroine) and Governor Ward nearly lynched. Instead the Governor was exiled. Although he intended to return to the island with troops to put down the rebellion, the British Government was less than impressed with his conduct and had a bigger rebellion problem in the Thirteen Colonies. Ward lost his post, his fortune and his status. He returned to his hometown of York and disappeared from the records.

Susanna Horne became a cultural icon and is currently depicted on the $10 banknote.

Fragments of the Multiverse is, in general, quite odd. Case in point: Pink elephant-hyena hybrids with skin similar to rubber often stampede through the national capital, Yancast. It almost always rains five seconds after the last one of them crosses the border to leave Yancast; in fact, there was only one time it didn't and that is because it rained six seconds after the border crossing. This is widely regarded by the citizens to be the least strange event that occurs in FotM.
