A variety of common stereotypes for Acadians are listed as follows, along with their .

• "Acadians are a bunch of damn papists" - Technically mostly true, as much of the population is Catholic; however, regular church attendance is actually fairly low, and it's not uncommon for a worshipper to dissent from the Church on a variety of issues.
• "Acadians are alcoholics" - Mostly untrue, although we do drink like fish (per capita consumption of alcohol sits at 12.5 litres per year), and the drinking laws are generally very lax in most provinces.
• "Acadians like beer" - We can't even sugar-coat this one; nearly 61% of alcohol consumed is beer, and there are statistically more breweries than there are Starbucks locations (1,649 to 1,522).
• "Acadians like ice hockey" - Also largely true. It's the national sport, which is actually unsurprising given the climate here.
• "Acadians are boisterous" - There are exceptions to this, as with any of the stereotypes on this list, but we've been known to come off as... very friendly and very loud. Indeed, the festival surrounding the Feast of the Assumption on 15 August involves taking to the streets of your community and making as much of a fracas as possible; such a ruckus is known as the Tintamarre.
• "Acadians are profane" - Amongst friends especially, cursing isn't a faux pas so much as it is an art form. Curses with religious elements are especially popular, and combining them in a string of words with other curses is probably a national pastime, like some kind of socially-acceptable Aristocrats joke.
• "Acadians hate the Danish" - Nowadays largely untrue, but historically, they were responsible for the Expulsion, which removed many of Acadian ethnicity from their original home on the Skrælingøy (known now to Acadians as Vieille Acadie). As a result, we look back on our history with Denmark in the same way that (OOC alert) RL Americans look back on their history with the British - we're friends now, but there's nothing a ribbing didn't hurt.
• "Acadians are undercover party animals" - Modest attire is often emphasised in public, which gives off the impression that we're goody two-shoes types. This, as we've mentioned earlier, is generally untrue.

Negative stereotype: Puritanical socialistic inbred snake-handling tongues-speaking intolerant oppressive idealistic disloyal flag-hating fools, who will lick any dictator's boot for toleration, run an absurd totalitarian economy, will lay hands on you & pray for you as soon as you accidentally stumble on one of their meetings, & make terrible food. Arguably true, except for the snake handling part. Living Stones really was relatively inbred, until a massive influx of refugees beginning in the 19th century that has not stopped since.

Positive stereotype: Decent hard-working God-fearing folk critical of oppressive economic structures that mind their own business, will help anyone in need. Debatable.
