Sylva Sidereum is broken Latin for "Starry Forest". I'm trying to be a Moon Colony.

Contrary to popular belief, the name Arumdaum is unrelated to the Korean word for "beautiful." The word Arumdaum (Arumdaun: Arŭmdaum) derives from the Sarekan word orŭmkara, meaning "harvest land." While kara has evolved into kul in the modern Arumdaun language, orŭmkara underwent a heavily differing change in spoken language. Originally, the name applied only to the Arumdaun peninsula, but the name gradually came to be synonymous with all the territory controlled by the succeeding dynasties ruling from Sareko.

OOC: Tol Eressëa is a fictional island from Middle Earth, I personally loved its name.
IC: The name Tol Eresëa was originally known as Cyrod Varlasel, literally meaning Heartland of the Hall of Stars. As the culture began to shift many of the isle's inhabitants fled causing the isle to be largely unpopulated. When King Baenlin Sîrfalas founded his kingdom he named it Tol Eresëa, the Lonely Isle.

I was inspired by various Central/South American names ending -agua which is also the Spanish for water. So I came up with: negra+agua - "black water". I then backformed this to have been - ICly - derived from dark rivers and lakes in the area.

An old name of an imaginary country I used to rule when playing a game with my younger siblings. Loosely based on 'archer'. Some of the provinces in my country are based off Latin words, for example Saggitaria, from the Latin for 'archer' or 'bowman'. My capital city's name, 'Civitatem', is Latin for city.

We're a country of teddy bears*, so the origins of the first half of our name should be pretty obvious (although admittedly, only 80% of our populace are teddy bears these days, the rest being humans or other Laltofian "stuffed animals"). As for the "Republic Empire" segment, we are indeed a republic in all but name, and the Empire was added on following demands by the kingdoms that make up the modern day TBRE that particular elements of their countries be preserved ceremonially, the title of "Empire" included.

OOCly, it's an easy way to tell how much info people have on my country in passing, and to differentiate it from other TBRs.

*The IC etymology of the word "teddy bear" is a long story, but it is essentially derived from the two most influential rulers from the Ancient period.

Valmont is the surname of a French noble in the book/movie Dangerous Liaisons. When I looked into the name, I discovered it's from Old French, meaning "mountain valley" - perfect for a French-inspired mountainous nation.

From the depths of my imagination... and just mashing words and sounds together for a full minute until i got something that sounded decent.
The People's Republic of Kaitjan is a nation most glorious: a totalitarian communist dictatorship set against a backdrop of vast jungles, great rivers and a horribly tropical climate. Kaitjan is renowned for its all-encompassing militarism, rampant xenophobia, isolationist tendencies and a great love for tigers and tiger motifs.

My nation was founded at Fort Herman, which was commonly called the Northern Fort. When the area around the fort was conquered, the area was named Northern Fort. Overtime it just evolved into Northfurt due to different spellings, errors, etc. The name has since stuck.

Castresia comes from a play on the Latin words castellum (little castle/camp) and castro ("I cut" or "I punish"). It has been said that the mercenaries and adventurers in what is now Castresia's capital were given the exonym Castresi because of the exasperation of foreigners to put an end to what they think is a thorn by their side.
