Azovskayan News Network

Terrorist plot thwarted!

Today, in the city of Azovskaya, gunshots rang out in the middle of an apartment. Citizens fled the area, thinking it was a terrorist attack. Well, it almost was.

Twelve Chechen terrorists were waiting on the 23rd floor of the apartment, armed with AK-47s. They were preparing to attack the Azovskayan subway. Their plan several months in the making, was uncovered about a week ago (according to an unknown source) by the Azovskayan Elite Group (АЭГ). The special forces team quickly entered the apartment complex at around 7:30 this morning and eliminated all twelve of the terrorists. No Azovskayan lived were lost.

The rise of Chechen aggression has worried the government, as Chechen communities have taken arms and raised small organized militias, and have threatened to "kill all the Azovskayans." The government has denounced these threats, but have mobilized some military forces in case of any Chechen aggression. The Azovskayan government has announced that if any more Azovskayan citizens are harmed, that Azovskaya will not hesitate to start an armed conflict against the Chechens.

OPINION Fu Wen's Moment of Truth
If the New Democrats cannot solve Namor's market crisis, their chances of winning in NMR 2378 are finished
Наморайин | English

Image
Is Fu Wen and his party finished?
Like the regime of Jung To during the war of liberation, Fu Wen is embattled. His Nantai policy has gotten Namor nowhere, with the Luziycan government and opposition daring than ever to stage a referendum to destroy the status quo. His softness on Txotai has earned separatist terrorists their long-wanted legitimacy. His policy in regards to Qianrong ended a failure, with more Qianrongese distrustful of the People's Republic than ever, and finally the economy is headed towards a meltdown.

Analysts on the left and right agree that the outcome of the NMR 2378 general election depends on what Namorese voters think of Fu the day he leaves office. The President-General, upon taking office in NMR 2368, promised the populace that his center-rightist policies would usher in a new age of prosperity and leave Namor more prestigious in the world stage. As people were dissatisfied with Kaitlyn Khan back then, many bought into his message and accepted Fu's claim that only the New Democrats are capable of bringing about that "new age."

While Fu had little difficulty convincing the people that he was their leader during his first term, gradually voters put things into perspective.

Almost none of this foreign policy initiatives truly succeeded. His attempt at compromising with the Luziycans over Nantai only encouraged Bethlehem to think about holding a referendum that would permanently justify its illegal occupation, knowing that Namo would not respond as it should. At the same time, his detente policy alienated Namor from many of its democratic allies who worry that he is putting Luziycan interests above theirs'. He said he wanted to reconcile with the Triumvirate, and while the Unolians carelessly voiced their support for talks, no talks between Namor and any of the Triumvirate members have occurred. He reached out to Qianrong, delivering humanitarian aid, only to be called a "discriminator." It's true the administration wasn't discriminating, but nevertheless its response to Yucheng's remarks was pathetic. The decision to cut humanitarian aid only pushed the Qianrongese to depend more on Tuthina, allowing the theocratic empire and its brainchild the Monic Union to gain a bigger foothold on the island.

Turning his back on the will of the Riroese people, Fu said he won't accept the Namorese enclave into the People's Republic, citing the constitution he swore to protect.

Fu arranged for negotiations with the "Otekian National Congress (ONC)," a branch of the larger Txotai separatist network, to discuss the possibility of allowing elderly separatists and possibly retired Knights militants return to the country. Fu is not a separatist, but what he's doing is benefiting the separatists, whether he knows it or not.

Enough with foreign policy failures. Fu has long justified his presidency by citing the economic progress Namor has made under his "center-rightist (more like far-rightist)" policies - the privatization of companies, the reduction of Namor's long-fortified social safety net, and the reduction in welfare - all in the name of sustaining or reducing debt. And what has happened since then? The gap between rich and poor widened, poverty increased, there are more broken individuals in the streets, and corporations are not being held responsible for their ills.
"Either he will be remembered by Namorese as the hero
who presided over the Karshevsization of Namor, or he will be
remembered as the business owner who ruined this country but
still managed to serve two terms."

Essentially, everything the Liberationists sacrificed millions of lives during the revolution to achieve was destroyed or at least depreciated by the current President-General.

But Fu can be partially forgiven. He never really belonged to the class of true leaders who have practical, real solutions to real problems (remember, he had no political experience - he was a businessman). Yet his failures may cost his party; if more Namorese grow dissatisfied with the plunging Namorese stock market and millions worldwide feel the pain caused by the crash in Esquarian City, the New Democratic candidates, be it the "Fu Wen's policies are fine and just" Tuyet An or "Fu Wen isn't doing enough" Huan An, will lose popularity. Their message will be perceived as appealing only to the upper class of this country. Then, voters will flock to polling stations in droves endorsing any one of the center or left-wing candidates. The New Democrats will suffer their worst-ever defeat, losing hundreds of seats in the vast Central Council.

This is inevitable unless Fu Wen does something really smart and successfully saves our economy. There is still time for the President-General to shape his legacy. Either he will be remembered by Namorese as the hero who presided over the Karshevsization of Namor, or he will be remembered as the business owner who ruined this country but still managed to serve two terms. But given that he has already failed multiple times on domestic and foreign policy, can Namorese really depend on "another" Fu success story?

As the Esquarian City Stock Exchange took another blow today, dropping yet another 280 points, it's the Moment of Truth for Fu Wen and the New Democrats.

Nevan forces round up thousands of suspected republicans in a massive operation in Lecistan

ŠIMUNGOTŠ - Hundreds of Lecistani republicanist symphatizers and anti-Nevan extremists have been arrested and shipped to Nevanmaa in a large counter-terrorist operation conducted by the Royal Nevan Army Gendarmerie.

The arrests took place between the night of September 8-9 in all major cities including Šimungotš, Ritsertsov and Bžny. While details regarding those arrested have not been made public, they reportedly include hundreds of various republicanist and anti-Nevan political activists and politicians.

Governor-General Lamminlaita confirmed that Nevan troops had conducted an "anti-terrorist operation where a number of extremist republicanists were sent to an undisclosed location in Nevanmaa in order to ensure that the upcoming election would not be ruined by foreign terrorist elements". Lamminlaita refused to give further comments, stating that he is not allowed to discuss military matters.

Lamminlaita stated that he is confident the upcoming election will go smoothly, but reminded that "rule of law must be followed" and warned that "anyone attempting to promote treasonous republicanist ideals during the election would be punished to the full extent of the law."

Bank of Nevanmaa announces that the country is officially "in recession"

NEVANLINNA - Worrying figures released by the Bank of Nevanmaa show that the country is now officially in recession after the gross domestic product contracted 3.9% during the second quarter.

The drop can be attributed to the instability caused by the Lazarene Sea crisis which seriously damaged Nevanmaa's reputation among investors. Various other events including the civil war in Qianrong have also contributed to the drop.

As late as April, the Bank expected the growth rate to be around 2.5%. According to chief analyst Kari Korhonen, overcoming the recession is going to require swift actions from all Esquarian countries. "Promoting consumer confidence and ensuring international stability are vital right now. Inaction could risk this recession becoming the new great depression", Korhonen warns.

FM: Osonia is open to Odissia's SOE membership

Foreign Minister Albert Oriol d'Aranh e Pujol speaking to
reporters about Odissia's prospective membership in the SOE

MONTCARLE, OSONIA - Foreign Minister Albert Oriol d'Aranh e Pujol has signaled that the Osonian government would back a proposed bid by Odissia's government to join the Southeast Oriental Entente, clearing another hurdle for the country's membership in the South Conitian military alliance.

When speaking to reporters in the MFA building on Friday morning about Odissia's membership, he confirmed that "We do not mind Odissia in the SOE because as we see it, South Conitia needs to be more united than ever to reject authoritarianism, now more than ever. That's why I stand with Michillian President Vang's comments that the military alliance should do more to counter and break the Nevan royal government's hold in the continent, particularly in Lecistan, where the Nevan 'king' continues to keep a stranglehold on." He also stated that "Odissia is making great strides in coming to terms with its past militarism, particularly this Tuesday when Odissia's queen and chancellor both laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Era of Tragedies. Seventy years on after our liberation, we can say that Osonia has forgiven its neighbor."

Osonia's support came after Odissia's constitutional court ruled that the country could join the military alliance so long as it was strictly for "defensive purposes" as set out in Article 9 of the Allied-imposed constitution. Odissia's prospective membership still has some major hurdles to clear, as opposition leader Brúno Márti has vowed to oppose any measure of membership, which could also cause the government of Chancellor Christiána Elsiáni to collapse.

Mya Atrenado loses election to Veronica Tascharido

Today was election day in all of Atlantia Creek. The four candidates were Veronica Tascharido, Stephanie Guillen, Kate Powers, and Incumbent Mya Atrenado. Atrenado made several missteps in the days leading to the election. Atrenado called her opponents racist, had an affair with her secretary, and had no clear plan for the growth of Atlantia Creek. Tascharido, the winner of the election, believes in free college education, has a five-year plan for the growth of Atlantia Creek, and is mature. Atlantia Creek is on the right path with Tascharido at the helm.

Vidékúj is free! Major offensive against the Republican forces
Image
KNALWP flag flying over the main square in Vidékúj as people get back on the streets

Armed forces of the so called "Korbathian Peoples Republic" have been forced out and pushed 70 kilometers away from the capital city of Vidékúj. Korbathian Royalists along with the help of their brothers from Nevanmaa started a great offensive on the whole front line!

VIDÉKÚJ - Life is slowly going back to normal as the residents of the largest city in Korbathia slowly come back to their homes. The battle that was fought between Royalist and Republican forces lasted for 31 days. The millitary forces of the Kingdom of Korbathia announced that the region around and including Vidékúj in a radius of 57 kilometers is a safe zone where there is no fighting. The damage cause by the battle is not yet estimated but it can be said that around 1/5th of the city was destroyed and that around 10.000 - 15.000 people were killed during combat out of which at least 3000 were civilians. The Royal Korbathian Army had the help of the Polgárőrség (the paramilitary of the KNALWP) and the Royal Nevan Army. The Nevan soldiers, since they landed on the shores of Korbathia were welcomed as heroes in every city. In Vidékúj today you could see pictures of Juhani III and István VIII, both Nevan and Korbathian flags and some party flags such as the KNALWP flag, the Nevan Patriotic Front flag, and the Nevan National Social Party. The commander of the Red Guard, the paramilitary force of the Korbathian Communist Party, Ándrás Sámi was captured and executed on charges of high treason and conspiracy to overthrow the legitimate government along with HRM István VIII.
The Monarchist forces started a major offensive against the Republican after pushing the frontline in the East and then encircling the southern part of Vidékúj which was held by the Republican forces. This ensured the final victory in Vidékuj but also along other major battlefields. Prime Minister Sándor Szabolcsi declared that this is a final push that will ensure final victory over the traitor armies.
As the Monarchist forces progress they continue to find mass graves. War crimes were committed by the republican forces and every single one of them, every one of their leaders will answer! - said Sándor Szabolcsi. The forces

Republican government accuses the Polgárőrség of war crimes

President of the Korbathian People's Republic, Voitto Bálazs once again called upon the Organisation of Esquarian Nations to recognise his government as a legitimate one and to intervene in the conflict in Korbathia. Bálazs states that numerous crimes were comminted by monarchists during this war. He states that the notorious Polgárőrség Legions are killing Shudri civilians and Jewish civilians.
Around 52 villages were razed and one complete town was leveled to the ground because of the fact that 100% of people living in that town were Jewish. We have evidence that there not one man from that town survived and that all of the inhabitants were massacred. This madness has to stop immediately.

Members of the NPA suggest suspending relations with Luziyca until the end of Shojarski’s presidency

A certain portion of the current transitional government of Ocidenia has suggested the idea of suspending diplomatic and economic relations with Luziyca until the current head of state President Breuvi Shojarski remains in power

Image
Chairman Adiro Pagressos

A controversial debate has recently arisen within the National Provisional Assembly. In response to the ongoing discussion of reopening Ocidenian embassies abroad and re-establishing lost diplomatic relations, a number of officials within the transitional government have recently brought up the opportunity of suspending diplomatic relations with Luziyca, while re-establishing them with all other Esquarian countries and developing new ones. The move would be aimed at suspending Ocidenian–Luziycan relations until the end of Breuvi Shojarski presidency only. The creators and supporters of this idea have specifically added that suspension of relations would not be directed against Luziyca as a nation and a country and would only be aimed at President Breuvi Shojarski, with whom the proposers of suspension claim – “Ocidenia has no moral right to have any ties with after what his government has done to the nation”.

The current Chairman of the National Provisional Assembly Adiro Pagressos himself has expressed neutral position on the proposal and claimed that the choice to apply this sort of action stands behind the rest of the transitional government and the people of Ocidenia. From the current reports, the overall picture among the NPA is that the transitional government is highly divided and is far from forming a unanimous position on the issue. The opponents of this proposal claim that apart from a “symbolic action” the overall value or effectiveness of such action is non-existent, as loosing relations with Ocidenia would not affect Luziyca in any way, while Ocidenia would definitely not benefit from such action, especially when referring to the recent economic recession that has hit Esquarium overall. Those, who have expressed a neutral stance on the proposal within the assembly and who see reason behind both sides, state that the overall decision should be made via national referendum.

Chairman Adiro Pagressos himself has stated that the proposal has not been rejected and is scheduled for discussion in any of the upcoming summits. He added that the final decision might even be made in a form that was suggested by the officials with a neutral stance, which is a national referendum, where the people of Ocidenia would decide if Shojarski’s Luziyca is an enemy of Ocidenia or not.

Esquarileaks: Kraqi officials embezzling aid for past four years
Over two million dollars' worth of humanitarian, financial aid embezzled by Kraqi Vice President, others
Report by Yi Jingfa from Olachoo, Chorea; Nuh Jabir from Hartly, Ainin

Image
Esquarileaks revealed that officials within President Ahmed
Hussein's government have been embezzling $2 million (P14
million) in humanitarian and financial aid over the last four
years
Chorea-based whistle-blower website Esquarileaks revealed that officials within the Kraqi regime have been embezzling over two million dollars' (P14 mil.) worth in humanitarian and financial aid coming from foreign countries.

The website released a series of previously concealed documents that suggest much of the aid coming into Kraq landed permanently in the hands of Kraqi officials and bureaucrats instead of the civilian population, to which the humanitarian aid is supposed to be delivered.

Esquarileaks named Kraqi Vice President Muammar Hussein as among the officials involved in embezzling aid, as well as several other senior government, military and officials aligned with the ruling Kraqi National Freedom Party (KNFP).

The group did not mention whether Kraqi strongman Ahmed Hussein is also involved in the embezzlement of aid or knows anything about it, although some analysts believe Mr. Hussein is aware due to his record as a repressive and corrupt leader.

"The regime is officially centered around the [National Freedom] Party, but in reality it is centered around Hussein and his relatives," said Ma Sikuang, a Nautasia expert from the Namorese Institution of International Studies. "I wouldn't be surprised if, given that many senior Kraqi officials are embezzling aid, that Ahmed Hussein is embezzling aid too. It's quite naive to think he isn't involved in any way."

At the moment of the leaks, the Kraqi government was unable to be reached for comment, nor were other governments involved in delivering aid to Kraq. Some believe the revelations could lead to Kraq's closest foreign supporters minimizing aid or pushing for the Hussein regime to come clean with its corruption or embezzlement problems, but Mr. Ma noted that since the outbreak of the civil strife in Kraq, "the world is stuck between two extremes: an oppressive state and extremist rebel factions. It is unlikely that the latest leaks would shift public opinion in favor of the rebels."

OOC: I suppose this is our answer to Donald Trump.

Sunday 13.09.15
National Renewal obtains 40 seats in the Rïksamblé following the left-wing opposition’s mass resignation; celebratory rallies held throughout the country whilst some warn of the ‘end of democracy’

Vilnna, Filimons — The former leader of the opposition, Maximilian Guinovart, has accepted his electoral defeat and announced his political retirement this evening from his party’s headquarters in the capital, Vilnna, stating: ‘Filimons has spoken; the people have spoken. We, the Social Democrats et al, no longer represent the people. We are in desperate need of a change―a “reconnection”―with the Filimon electorate for it is obvious that we have failed them. I shall step aside and leave a new generation to regenerate our movement’. Mr Guinovart resigned as a member of the Rïksamblé for Gelcem North on the 6 September after his proposal to cut ties with Nevanmaa were met with protests and demonstrations. His resignation was followed by those of all his parliamentary colleagues—20 Social Democrats, 10 ‘Populars’ (from the People’s Party), eight Greens and two left-wing independents—as the opposition crumbled and recognised the wide-scale unpopularity of its policies.

Meanwhile, National Renewal, widely seen as a more nationalistic and conservative ‘variant’ of the ruling Liberal Conservative Party, have secured 40 of the 41 seats at stake with a self-described ‘radical-centrist’ independent named Sigismönd Thalys securing the remaining seat, Gelcem North which was formerly held by the aforementioned Maximilian Guinovart. Celebratory rallies have been held in various cities and most notably in Vilnna, Sant Fernänd and Gelcem, the country’s three largest cities.

Left-wing critics have been quick to criticise the result with some calling it the ‘end of democracy’ in Filimons. Indeed, Emma Bruguer, now interim leader of the ‘Populars’, has described the by-elections as a ‘sham to save face’. Ms Bruguer went onto say: ‘[The] Liberal Conservatives are firmly in control of this country. They will mercilessly silence all those oppose them. They are dictators and autocrats seeking to destroy this country―they’ve discarded our most valued principle, armed neutrality. The Liberal Conservatives are traitors of the highest degree. I call on the Filimon people to wake up! You are being governed by a dictatorial regime’.

State Elder Porfir Rubiró has described Ms Bruguer as a ‘loony’. He described her decision to enter politics as a ‘shame’ going onto declare: ‘This girl―Emma Bruguer, I think she’s called―is remarkably pretty. She’d serve her country well as a beauty pageant contestant or a volleyball player; she’s not made for the fringe “stateswoman” role. For heaven’s sake, send her to university and teach her something; whenever she opens her mouth she humiliates all the men and women of this country. Of course, Filimons remains a democracy with all “pan-Esquarian” freedoms and principles recognised as sacrosanct. Emma is wrong and this is evident by the fact that the state has not censored her remarks and she remains free to declare and say whatever she wishes even if I consider pure rubbish and verbal diarrhoea’.

Ms Bruguer has since asked the State Praesidium for an apology but the Praesidium has rejected her petition arguing Mr Rubiró was speaking as a ‘private citizen’ as opposed to a representative of the Filimon state. It did back his comments on the permanence of democracy and freedom of speech in Filimons declaring ‘the Commonwealth has been a democracy for many years and it will remain a democracy’.

Disclaimer: Dæ Kommorïk wishes to re-affirm its commitment to neutrality and impartiality.

Esquarileaks: Kraqi Vice President Embezzles $2 Million Worth of Humanitarian and Financial Aid Over Four Years

by Abu Omar - September 11, 2015
Image
Vice President Muammar Hussein
in 2013.

RAGOBAD, KRAQ - Just when things were looking up for President Hussein and his government...Esquarileaks happened.

According to dozens of leaked taped conversations, documents, emails and diplomatic cables released by Esquarileaks; Vice President Muammar Hussein - eldest son of Ahmed Hussein - and dozens of other senior government, military, and party officials are all in the middle of the biggest corruption scandal in Kraqi history - the embezzlement of at least 2 million USD [universal standard dollar] or 4 billion Kraqi pounds (the equivalent of almost half of Kraq's GDP) worth of humanitarian and financial aid, some of it delivered by foreign aid agencies and governments, over the past four years.

It remains to be seen whether Kraqi strongman, President Ahmed Hussein, is involved in the scandal or knew anything about it. However, considering the centralised concentration of power in the hands of the Kraqi President and his friends and family, its unlikely that the President, at the very least, didn't know what was going on. Although many experts suspect that the President could be embezzling aid as well.

According to Esquarileaks, back in 2011, when the Kraqi uprising had just erupted, Vice President Muammar Hussein and the Minister of the newly formed, Ministry of Displaced People’s - Hosni al-Saleh - were extensive contact. Although the leaked documents and diplomatic cables were heavily encrypted - its apparent that Vice President Hussein and Minister al-Saleh were discussing ways to siphon money from aid being directed towards the country’s Sunni population. Later leaked documents come to show that the Minister of Displaced People’s was “open to the idea.” In a leaked telephone conversation taped in mid-December 2011, al-Saleh agreed - referring to it as - “the best way to ‘punish’ the Sunni infidels,” and that “No government would care if money and aid meant for the Sunni ‘terrorists’ suddenly ‘disappeared’ whilst making its way to aid camps.”

By March 2012, the number of people involved and the amount of money being stolen from aid agencies exploded, with members of all branches of government becoming apart of the associated with Hussein and Minister al-Saleh plan. Since August of that month, documents show that Hussein has in contact with several unidentified foreign bankers, in which it can be assumed, they have been discussing the progress of laundering the stolen money.

The effects of the leak can be expected to be wide reaching and possible mobilise opposition within the Kraqi government. So far, Minister of Displaced People’s al-Saleh has refused to comment on the situation and hasn’t been seen in public since the leak. Vice President Hussein, however, addressed a large crowd of reporters outside with the Green House and had this to say. “It’s clear to me, and it should be for all of you, that foreign propagandists and ‘Caliphate’ agents are attempting a smear campaign against myself, and my father’s government. I, Muammar Hussein, would never steal from the most desperate of people of Kraq...I would never take food out of the mouths of innocent children, no matter their sect. I wholeheartedly condemn ‘Esquarileaks’ and urge the Prime Minister of Chorea - Cho Ke-te - to crackdown on these radicals before they anymore damage.”

The leak comes as most of the region's most powerful economies - including Luziyca, Namor, Michillies, and Pavonistade - have had their economies enter recession following years of violence and unrest in Southwestern Esquarium and rising tensions in South Conita. Many economists are predicting, unless the government can magically end the civil war and destroy the Caliphate, that the already ailing Kraqi economy will collapse in the coming month, with Kraq's massive unemployment, which currently stands at 58%, could increase to between 75-80% by the end of the year while average income could fall to less than $150 year.

Mohammad al-Abrash, a senior member of the National Congress and outspoken critic of the present of over 60 thousands New Zepuhan troops in Kraq - whom he declared to be proxies of the “white devils” (a derogatory term for Nevans and other white ethnic groups who are considered be racists), has taken a different view. “This is yet another clear sign that reforms must be implemented to crackdown on corruption which is paralysing are government and armed forces in are fight against terrorism and tyranny.” he told reporters outside Parliament. “Vice President Hussein, Minister of Displaced People’s al-Saleh, and others to allegedly associated with this scandal must be investigated on corruption charges. I vow, hopefully with the rest of the members of Parliament, investigate and prosecute all those guilty of these heinous crimes.”

Although the full aftereffects of the scandal have yet to emerge, members of the Council of the Presidency, Supreme Court, and most MPs have taken a similar oaths as Mohammad al-Abrash - to investigate, prosecute, and punish all those response for stealing from the Kraqi people. Their pledges threaten to put the agenda of President Hussein and the agendas of the Judiciary and Legislative branches of government directly in conflict of each other; signaling a possible crisis between Parliament and the President.

We will continue to update you on the situation as it progresses.

The Atlantican Daily

Emergency Economic Stimulus Act passes in a landslide; temporary suspension narrowly passes in the referendums

THROUGHOUT ATLANTICA - As expected, the Emergency Economic Stimulus Act passed, with a whopping 89% of voters voting to pass the Emergency Economic Stimulus Act. The law, backed by all major political parties, unions, employer associations and Atlantican businesses in a rare act of unity will temporarily divert all money currently going into the Oil Fund into an emergency economic stimulus designed to prevent recession from entering Atlantica for a 1-year period; this period may be extended by the normal vote process (vote by the Althing and then referendum) in a year if Atlantica is in recession at that time.

The referendum on the proposed temporary suspension on referendums on all laws categorised as Businesses and Finance under Atlantica's omnibus system until Althing elections in January or if the crisis has appeared to end (whichever comes first) as well as immediately prioritising all Businesses & Finance bills in order to allow the Althing to act quickly in relation to the crisis was considerably closer, with 53% of voters supporting it against 47% of voters opposing it---the bill, although supported by the employer associations, was opposed by the Communist Party, Green Party and the Democratic Party as well as the Communist-affiliated Revolutionary Confederation of Labour, and was supported by the Socialist Party, Liberal Party and Blue Party as well as the Atlantican Federation of Labour, Atlanticanist Confederation of Labour and Atlantican Alliance of Workers, which proponents of the temporary suspension arguing that extremely quick action is needed to deal with any possible recession (indeed, a Government-supported bill for a massive stimulus via a massive temporary increase in the basic income and infrastructure and public works spending and an Opposition-supported bill for temporary suspension of the wealth tax, payroll tax and temporarily cutting the top rate of the income tax to 50% have just been proposed into the Althing and are expected to receive at least the minimum three other sponsors required to be voted on by the Althing soon), and opponents arguing that the temporary suspension is an utmost violation of Atlantica's mix of a representative and direct democracy.

It is currently unknown at his moment in time if the EESA (as well as either the Government or Opposition-supported bills) will be enough to prevent Atlantica from falling into recession, although the majority of economic analysts have asserted that the EESA and either one of the proposed bills will be enough to prevent Atlantica from going into recession.

Consensus and disagreement as Namor-ONC talks close
Krasimir talks "neither success nor failure"
Report by Antonij Hristijan from Desislav, Katranjiev

Image
Txotai Head of State Wei Siang speaking to the press following
his meeting with Frontiersburg leader Kolya Vitalik
Talks between the Namorese government and Frontiersburg-based overseas Otekians held in Krasimir, Katranjiev concluded with mixed results, with Namo claiming that the talks were "neither a success nor a failure" and both sides acknowledging that "obstructive disagreements remain."

Representing the Namorese government were Txotai Head of State Wei Siang, Minister of Ethnic Minority Affairs Tuo Vang and Txotai security chief Txo Pujin. The other side was represented primarily by "Otekian National Coalition (ONC)" leader Kolya Vitalik.

The talks were made possible by the ONC's recognition of Txotai as territory of Namor, a necessary prerequisite for direct talks according to Namo.

"Certain issues where we agree"

"There are certain issues where we agree," Mr. Wei said after the talks. "Like we agree that among ethnic Otekians living overseas are some who did not leave the country for political reasons, and that these people deserve a shot at returning to their homes. On the other hand, there are certain disagreements that prevent us from reaching a total consensus. For example, we don't want to grant home return permits to anyone who still thinks Txotai is a separate country. I doubt our taxpayers would like to see their money going to feed these kind of people."

Namo and the ONC cannot agree on who calls the shots on who can and cannot return to Txotai, Mr. Wei added.

"Our counterparts [in the ONC] agree with us that Txotai is part of Namor, but they disagree with our belief that as the government, we reserve the right to say who can and can't enter or re-enter this country. I don't know when we can reach an agreement on this specific issue, but hopefully we do."

"Both reconciling and disappointing"

Kolya Vitalik of the ONC said that the talks are "both reconciling and disappointing."

"We weren't able to get the Namorese [government] to consider protecting returning Otekians' right to free speech and expression. Many Otekians in Frontiersburg and elsewhere want to return to their homeland, but if they're going to return to a place where they can't speak their minds, it's just as bad as staying in exile," he said.

Consensus against violence, extremism

But Mr. Vitalik added that he is "optimistic" that both sides agree to oppose terrorism and extremism.

"Some of us have used bombs to pressure Namor to allow us back to Oteki [Txotai]. It never worked, but we didn't know that until very recently. Unfortunately, there are some in the exile community who are unwilling to recognize the futility of violent resistance. It may be because they're too shameful to admit it, but that doesn't change the fact that violence is wrong."

Mr. Wei acknowledged the ONC is opposed to extremism.

"You have a lot of groups in Frontiersburg who subscribe to a religious fundamentalist ideology that encourages people to kill Kannei to receive a good place in the afterlife. Vitalik and his group is one of the few groups that don't think that way. We might have disagreements, but these talks prove that there are some in Frontiersburg whom we can directly have a chat with without getting ourselves killed.

"Personally, I feel that we're moving in the right direction if we continue to engage with these people so that we can all get a comprehensive view of the situation at hand."

Female salamdulyagi reporter kicked out of conference
Image
Brian Kozlov, legislator and author

BANGSON, NORD NAKLON - Today, at a conference for the Presidential campaign in Bangson, capital of Nord Naklon, Brian Kozlov kicked out a female reporter (Namu Yominov) who is reporting for the Chulnala network for speaking out of turn and alleging that she was on her period on a conference discussing law and order at the Bangson Community Center.

Brian Kozlov explained that "the largest demographic of criminals in Shibdan are the Injuns. 97.5% of criminals in this nation are of native blood. 5% of all natives in this nation, they are behind bars or serving sentences in the community. Why are they criminals? Because for a long time, they have expected the government to take care of their every whim and grant their every wish, and when they don't get what they want, they take it out on us, the ordinary Shibdanese person. This is why we must end all special rights for the natives: they are drug dealers, rapists, and pedophiles..." and paused before adding hastily, "...and I admit some good people, like my humble colleague, Rotislav Sankun."

When he took in questions, reporter Namu Yominov from the Chulnala network interrupted Brian Kozlov, asking him, "Sir, why do you assume that all indigenous people are criminals?"
Kozlov said, "Madam, you are speaking out of turn. You are on your period, so I can see why you are angry. You have PMS. Go back to Chulnala, and get out of here now."
Namu Yominov defied him, saying, "I am angry because of your racist bile, and how you refuse to respect the rights of the salamdulyagi," before she was escorted out by security.

When asked why Namu Yominov was kicked out of the community center, Kozlov said, "She was speaking out of turn, and she was angry because she's on her period. End of story, let's move on."

Namu Yominov said that "the way that I was treated was unfair. He was asking any more questions, so I shot my hand up, and he nodded yes. I then asked him the question, and then he alleged that I was on my period. No self-respecting Shibdanese ought to vote for a sexist and racist bigot."

Despite this, Brian Kozlov and Rotislav Sankun are still the two frontrunners in this close race. Opinion polls show Sankun to be leading at 62% with Kozlov at 35%, and 2% split among various other candidates.

Vitorian troops departing from a war-torn region in Qianrong

Vitoria to return to aerial strikes "only", withdraws land troops back from Qianrong

Vitorian troops are slowly leaving Qianrong. Only aerial strikes remain in action and whenever the Qianrongese government asks so. Recent reviews suggested, that this is purely startegical and economical, so the Vitorian economy can start to slowly increase again like it used to and not remain actually pretty stable to decreasing. At the moment of this publishment, around 180,000 troops, a large Corps as we call is departing Qianrong, either by transport aircrafts, or by transport vessels and are close to halfway back to Vitoria.

"We are sorry Qianrongese citizens, but we must really depart our land forces from your nation's countryside and the war. We really need to focus on caring about our destabilized economy and by returning these people back, is the best way to stabilise it again. We will, although, keep our bombers and multi-type jets to help you as long as the war lasts. Again, we are really sorry for that." said the President Eutimio Mendes.

And somehow miraculously, the economy really started to increase in high rates. The likes of 1.5% increase is now really usual to large financial companies, 2% increase of the worth of the Vitoriana, the national currency, the National Bank and Vitorian report increase of 1%. But the withdrawal didn't only bring good things for the economy. It also brought several dead people. Out of all these troops, Vitoria lost 183 of its men that went in the first line of the battle. Those are some of the first reports, probably the final.

The Oil Driller in action

Oil Driller made near the borderline with the Federal Republic of Cortoguay

An uknown fact about Vitoria since March 2015, is that it has found a huge oilfield near the borderline of the oil rich Federal Republic of Cortoguay, publicly known as East Cortoguay. There have been contstruction works in the area for several months before being completed, yesterday night on the 14th of September 2015. It has already started taking oil from the huge oil field so over the next month Vitoria will trade oil with neighbouring nations. Vitorian oil companies such as AlvahadoOil and Stefano Inc. are already buying huge areas of that field for their needs of oil so they could exchange it with neighbouring South Conitian nations and strong allies. Such as East Cortoguay, the Kramden, Michillies and Montecara.

Nearby villages serve as the homes of the workers and they might get unified so the housing area reaches the closest to the oil driller. The huge oilfield reaches as far as the coastline a bit northern and is way larger underwater. The limits of the oilfield are near the economical zone limits of Vitoria with the Federal Republic of Cortoguay and since it solely belongs to Vitoria, there won't be any fights between these 2 about the supremacy of that oilfield. A huge economical rise is also seen by economists over that, as soon as oil gets to be sold to everyone that needs oil, so both sides of the Lazarene crisis. Vitoria is expected a 4% nominal increase.

The area will be highly secured, as thousands of troops will be sparsed to the oil drillers over the oil field, because 2 more are being finished. One of them being in land and another one being maritime. The Navy will also patrol quite a lot the maritime oilfieled so there won't be any intruders. There have been maps made for the region. The most accurate one is this map.

This is originally from the Lecistani election IC thread, where I am roleplaying as the Rally for Lecistani Sovereignty. As Trzëfarwa is the official newspaper of the party, I shouldn't be violating any rules by posting this. Lecistan's nation is his, not mine, and he is the final authority on it.

Hundreds arrested in crackdown on dissent; several Rally leaders jailed in act of repression

Image
Rally supporters hold a vigil for arrested leaders outside the party headquarters in Nowi Szimóngôcz, using cell phones in place of candles.

September 17th, 2015 | Nowi Szimóngôcz, Lecistan - More than five hundred people, including leaders and supporters of the Society of Socialists, Rally for Lecistani Sovereignty, and Lecistan Social Democrats have been jailed on fabricated charges in a blatant attempt to silence opposition parties, triggering mass protests from supporters of the Rally across the country.

Because he holds parliamentary immunity as a member of the Earldom Council for Brzny-Lùtórowo and said immunity has not been revoked, Łukôsz Grzéskowicz is presently not among the arrested; his location is unknown at press time, with the Rally refusing to give it "as a protest against this blatant attempt at political repression." A statement, written by Grzéskowicz, has been released by party leadership; in it, he identifies the arrests as "an outright assault on the rights and liberties of the Lecistani people," highlighting that the charges many leaders now face are likely fabricated. "I urge all supporters of the Rally, the Society, and the Social Democrats, as well as all other Lecistanis with any sense of conscience or of dignity, to go out and protest this unjust decision and fight against the dark path it puts us on... The people, united, will never be defeated. Make yourself heard, and eventually they will have to listen."

Many other leaders of the Rally, however, were not able to escape this blatant assault on the fairness of the upcoming elections. Vice-Chairman Cyryl Gniewek, Communications Director Władësłôw Niemczyk, Lower Rzëszù Regional Chairman Matéùsz Czãkowski, leader of the Rally's irredentist subfaction Janusz Adómkówski, and Trzëfarwa's own Chief Editor Gúglelmo Jóvannesci have all been arrested as part of the crackdown on free speech, as well as several regional and local leaders who belonged to the Rally's republican subfaction. Reports suggest they are possibly being denied access to their lawyers, which would render their trials unfair if confirmed. Many of the party's authorities have either selected interim leaders to replace them until they are released from their unjust detention, or simply voted to leave the positions empty until the arrested individuals are released from jail. Many of the individuals arrested were civilian volunteers working for the party in their spare time.

Many of the arrested leaders have also decided to protest in one of the few ways possible to prisoners of conscience: the hunger strike. According to reports, Gniewek, Niemczyk, Czãkowski, Jóvannesci, and several other arrested individuals have vowed to go on hunger strike in protest. Vice-Chairman Gniewek- who has been able to talk to his lawyer, apparently in contrast to many of the others- told aforementioned lawyer that he plans "to go on hunger strike until I'm out of this goddamned political prison." If the Sáltucéri regime refuses to back down and restore the freedoms it has crushed, then this could possibly become a protracted issue. Many hunger strikes turn lethal if they become extended affairs, and most international law prohibits the force-feeding of hunger strikers as inhumane and degrading treatment; historically, force-feeding has even been considered as torture.

Image
Vice-Chairman Cyryl Gniewek campaigning earlier this month; he is now in jail and set to go on hunger strike.

In response to the sweeping arrests, a brief statement from members of the National Committee who were not arrested by the regime attacked the supposed case established by the regime against the political prisoners, highlighting several worrisome irregularities and potential fabrications within the documents, as well as supposed events that could not have occurred due to the locations of the accused at the time the alleged events supposedly occurred. "It is obvious that these charges are falsified and fabricated in a blatant attempt to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections in a fashion that will silence the opposition and further the forces of oppression, repression, and foreign colonization in this country." The leadership of the Rally's irredentist faction and republican faction released a joint statement saying that "with their actions, Juhani Kaarenmaa-Hennala and Jóvanne-Márco Sáltucéri have effectively declared an all-out war against the people and nation of Lecistan, their rights, their opinions, their families, and their security... We will not bow to anyone who seeks to silence us. Instead, we will rise up in protest, no matter the risk."

And many supporters of the Rally- and undoubtedly of the Society and Social Democrats as well- have crowded the streets to call for the release not only of those abducted and arrested by Sáltucéri, but also the thousands imprisoned unjustly earlier this month by the Nevan regime in a so-called "anti-terror" operation and will now be tried and jailed in Nevanmaa under Nevanmaa's internationally infamous laws. Protesters have chanted slogans calling for the release of the imprisoned individuals, as well as the slogans of the Rally, Society, and Social Democrats. Thousands have gathered nationwide in cities like Szimóngôcz, Brzny, Ricérzów, Lùtórowo, Úchoj, and Jelénik to protest the decisions and call for change. "We believe that the government is acting to, you know, to try and shut us up," one protester in Nowi Szimóngôcz- where protesters have gathered to hold a vigil for arrested leaders outside the Rally's headquarters- told us. "But they can't do that. We're going to speak, and we're going to prove that we're going to speak."

The news has already gained some foreign attention, too, with Li Jian-Zheng- the leader of the National Rights and Liberties Index, an independent Qianrongese organization dedicated to evaluating human rights within Qianrong and around the world- describing the arrests as "all too familiar for me," referencing the Qianrongese Winter Rebellion, in which the self-declared Acting Chancellor Guo Tse-Zu had opposition activists and dissidents brutally beaten, arrested, and even killed through horrific means- including, in one instance, setting the building they were in on fire and shooting them as they fled- to try and prevent his eventual overthrow. "A blow to freedom like the one we've seen in Lecistan ultimately deals a blow to freedom across the entirety of Esquarium... it is my hope that the government in Lecistan returns to sanity and to decency, and releases these prisoners of conscience."

The regime has not responded to these statements or the protests, but many fear that they will attempt to crack down further on civil rights and civil liberties in Lecistan. But many protesters in Nowi Szimóngôcz told us that they would rather face arrest than stay silent. "This is a threat to the Lecistani people and to the Lecistani nation, and to everything we hold dear," one told us. "If I stayed silent, the repercussions in Lecistan would be terrifying. To stay silent would be letting my homeland die." Another said that "Sáltucéri, Mánti, and their goons need to be given a lesson in the will of the people... We have to send the message that we won't stand for their assaults on Lecistan."

The Rebel Inquirer
For everything truly Zephuan

Winter is Coming and Knitler is Afraid
September 17th, 2015

Christiana, Michilles - Greetings to you, the true citizens of New Zepuha, or at least the ones who could manage to pick up our broadcast or not be arrested during listening hours. It is once again time for us to report on the grave misconduct of our government, especially the actions of the Knitler regime. For while he and parliament sit at the feet of the King in his golden palace, the country is slowly unraveling into a more oppressive state than it already is. Chancellor Knitler is fighting decades old resent from the Southern Republican leaning provinces that are now bursting into armed insurrection; while he is also grappling with the pressing issue of a faltering economy and the diminished power of Zephuan oil.

The South has long resented it's crushing defeat in 1950, when a hopelessly outgunned rebellion was smashed by the hordes of loyalist-royalist troops bearing down on them. Since then the national race and religious laws they helped to create have been tossed about in court, inevitably returning under Supreme Court order. King Auschlogen has put federal troops into their territory to enforce martial law. Yet, the government cannot control the flood of violence coming from the South, particularly the recent attack of an Imperial Guard convoy. This of course prompted the usual wave of arrests and convictions of dissidents and the inevitable amount of citizenry caught up in it all. Many of them may see the gallows by years end, or many may end up in the IDD where many captured Kraqis have ended up pending movement to a more permanent facility. What is more surprising, is that for the first time in 500 years parliament is considering tightening the very lax gun laws of New Zepuha, soon only your local jackbooted troopers will be armed!

So let us ignore for a moment the ineptitude of the Knitler administration and let us talk about New Zepuha's wars of aggression. Under the guise of fighting terrorism, a plot started during the Bergmann administration, New Zepuha has invaded three countries and is currently fighting in those countries. Why are we really in Kraq? Well not even Chancellor Knitler could explain any farther than "To stop the spread of radical Islamic terrorism and the caliphate" a goal the Imperial Guard has been struggling to do, even with a broad coalition forming behind them. Which seems like a good plan, but while we are at it let's support a corrupt murdering regime. What could go wrong? How about billions of dollars blown in just a year and already casualties reaching triple digits. But let us not ignore the fact that there are 9,800 Zepuhan troops stationed and fighting in Qianrong as well. Why? Because something about terrorism and Qianrongese brothers. We regularly execute and shove anyone who is not a white Catholic into internment camps and we are talking about brotherhood with them abroad? I guess it only applies when it gives you a base to keep an eye on the Namorese and Luziycans and the ability to threaten them with fast attack bombers. Wake up.

So New Zepuha, real talk for just a moment. How long are you going to sit by and let your country be run into the ground and made into an international pariah? If you are receiving this, or reading this transcript on our website [if the OCI hasn't bombed us again] please take advantage of the lax gun laws before they are taken away. Join your southern brothers and shake off the yoke of the King and bring about a revolution.

Unolia to hold first Culture Exposition of the Triumvirate

Reutern - Our Unolia comrades-in-arms will be hosting the first of a planned annual exposition for our glorious Triumvirate.

In Unolia City, the birthplace and heart of our proud alliance of sovereign states, the exposition will be from six to eight months long and feature a wide variety of exhibitions of member states' cultures and traditions. Participants in the exposition are Unolia, Koyro, the Most Serene Realm, Lersekt, Irvadistan, Kaskiria, Phazayazk, and our very own Reich.

Image

Aerial photograph of the Exposition at Unolia city
Each member state's exposition center will feature various stalls and exhibitions and other facilities to showcase the culture and traditions of that state. Attendance is open to all Esquarians who wish to attend so as to see the customs of individual Triumvirate member state. The Exposition is being hailed as a "great opportunity for understanding our fellow comrades of the Triumvirate beyond what the media portrays us as."

Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Triumvirate Cultural Exposition, Tu Bao, said:

"We are, contrary to popular belief, not war mongering monsters, who sit in dimly lit bunkers plotting how we will take over the world this week. We too are fellow Esquarians with out own set of traditions and values we hold dear to us as a people and a nation. This Exposition is designed to showcase those very same traditions and customs that make us a distinct people in our diverse world. So we extend invitation to all Esquarians who wish to see us for who we truly are."

The Exposition will also feature several V.I.P. attendants. Unolian Premier, comrade Zheng Zhuli, and our very own Führerin and Reichskanzler are said to be attending the exposition as well.

We encourage all Ziegenians and all Esquarians to attend the festivities and come together as a people for peace and prosperity.

VelkiaBank admits it's facing "major difficulties"
Economists warn of large-scale meltdown, CenCo pressured to arrange bailout
Report by Guang Dong from Namo

Image
Security guards scuffle with locals who have rushed to withdraw
cash from VelkiaBank in Esquarian City
The government is facing pressure to arrange a bailout, and quick, as Namor's fifth-largest bank admitted that it is facing "major difficulties," hinting that it is at the verge of bankruptcy, sparking bank runs across the country.

VelkiaBank, headquartered in Esquarian City and among the several banks that are owned by the central government, has mostly been silent since the Sept 4 crash that sent Namorese and international stocks plummeting by hundreds of points. But as more questioned the effects of the crash on the bank, CEO Ha Shia finally broke the silence and admitted the bank's troubles.

"It is indeed true that VekliaBank is facing major difficulties that need to be addressed before catastrophe breaks loose," said Ha in a brief statement posted on the bank's website and picked up by major news outlets. "We are doing everything we can to reverse these difficulties and get back on track, but our efforts may only do so much."

Similar to other leaders who have commented on the stock crisis, Ha appealed for calm. "It is not in the interest of me or my colleagues to wreak havoc. I sincerely hope that if we agree to struggle together, we will emerge out of our difficulties together."

Ha's statement did not mention what exactly were the "major difficulties" VelkiaBank is facing, but many speculate that the bank is at the verge of being unable to pay back its debts and may formally announce bankruptcy in the coming days. With uncertainty over the bank's fate growing, savers across the country are rushing to withdraw money from their deposit accounts.

In Esquarian City, several roads were cut off as hundreds crowded outside VelkiaBank, ignoring calls by bank employees and police to form a straight, recognizable line. What some called the "largest bank run witnessed in the city in years," scuffles broke out between police trying to placate worried citizens. Efforts by the bank to assure savers that they would be fine had little success.

"Don't block my way!" one middle-aged woman shouted as she clashed with security guards. "Otherwise I'm dead!"

Economists warn that if VelkiaBank is allowed to go down, more banks will follow - including district-level banks and Namor's "big four."

Namo seems to be getting the message. President-General Fu's "encouragement and discouragement master plan" helped stabilize the market by a bit; the stock market has been dropping by fewer points since last Saturday. But many are demanding that the government do more.

"Fortunately there's a precedent we can look at," said economist Shan Pinfu. "The reason why the recession of 1980 was so severe is because the Aininian government failed to arrange a bailout when it could have. The sooner we start pumping institutions like VelkiaBank with money, the better position we are in during these difficult times."

Some have other ideas. "This is a great moment for our talented entrepreneurs to apply their talents and help us all," said CenCo deputy Huan An. "Instead of intervening directly, the government should encourage our multimillionaires and moguls to create pools of assets. If we do so, we might see this panic end within weeks.

Peitoa howls in protest as CenCo votes on "Dejungization" bill
Bill that aims to create agency to oversee removal of Jung family's legacy met with fierce opposition in Namor's smallest district
Report by Nguyen Quang Tran from Novi Namor, Peitoa

Image
Jung To Street, the lifeline of Novi Namor, may be renamed as a
result of Namo passing the "New Peitoa Act"
Peitoa - the former "last refuge" of the Republic of Namor - considers Jung To's household as the "state family." Jung To ruled from Peitoa for 15 years until his death, his son Jung Ki ruled for 29 years, and Jung Fa ruled for 27 years. It's no surprise how many places around the archipelago are named after the Jungs - Jung To Street in Novi Namor, Jung To Tunnel, Jung Ki Boulevard, Jung Ki Plaza, and Jung Family Academy of the Arts.

But a bill that's being put to vote by the Central Council in Namo may end all that. Proposed by the Liberationists in CenCo, the "New Peitoa Act (NPA)" seeks to rename many of Peitoa's places in an effort to erase the legacy of the Jungs in Namor's smallest and newest district.

The NPA opens up with an acknowledgement of "the outright repressive and reactionary rule imposed upon the people of Peitoa by Jung To and his hereditary successors," before calling for the establishment of a "Dejungization Committee"made up of members from all five major parties which will see to that up to 80 percent of places named after the Jungs in Peitoa are permanently renamed.

Veterans of the former Peitoan military voiced their opposition to the bill

Prior to the proposal of the bill, small-scale efforts have been made to "dejungize" certain places in Peitoa, although a lot of them failed to pass. A significant change was the renaming of Jung To Square, Novi Namor's largest square, to "People's Square," shortly after the Liberation Army toppled the regime. Critics called the name change "socialistic."

Numerous members of the CenCo expressed their support for the bill, with Liberationist party leader Shohai Antelope calling it a "potential major step forward in Peitoa's path to recovery from decades of oppression" and DemSoc leader Namsa Singho saying such an act was "long overdue." Some New Democrats and People's Firsts expressed caution; Huan An said the issue should "best be left at the hands of the people of Peitoa." PFC leader Kuo Zhang said the central government has "no right to vilify someone who truthfully is a national hero."

Response to the bill is overwhelmingly negative in Peitoa. Many have taken to the streets demanding that Governor Yong Kang issue a formal protest to the central government. Protesters ranged from students to elders, many of whom were enlisted in the Peitoa regime's military and were exposed to years of pro-Jung propaganda. About 800 protesters congregated outside Novi Namor's District Assembly Hall demanding a response.

"The bill is an interference in our national life," said Wu Kaifan, 69, former Peitoa army colonel. "Jung To and his son were both great men. Jung Fa was a bit controversial, but that does not change the fact that it was Jung [To] who valiantly fought the Choreans during the Second Great War, reinstated Namor's place among great nations before the Liberationists stabbed him in the back, and continued to fight for the cause of Namorese freedom. He does not deserve the treatment he receives today in Namo's hipster government."

Jian Chinguk, chairman of the Novi Namor University Campus Nationalist League that played a crucial role in Peitoa's anti-"gradual immersion" protests, called the bill "hypocritical."

"Why don't they propose a bill demanding that all statues and places named after Yunglang Antelope be removed? He was just as authoritarian as Jung, but apparently only Jung is being targeted because we love him here," said Jian. "Even so, this bill should not be passed because it infringes upon our way of life. Peitoa may not be an autonomous republic, but it still has some degree of self-governance from Namo. Who is Namo to tell us whom we can or can't name our streets and plazas after?"

A few were indifferent or supportive towards the bill.

"Jung To was mean-spirited and cruel," said Ying Guai, the son of an anti-government insurgent who was captured and executed by security forces of the former regime. "The fact that past leaders on the mainland were as well doesn't change this."

Protest groups have threatened to expand their activities if the bill is passed by the Central Council or put into effect by the President-General. Chao Se, leader of the Namorese Peitoa Party who is currently running as Kuo Zhang's running mate, commented that the bill's passage will "undoubtedly worsen tensions between Peitoa and the mainland."

HM Queen Caroline declares support for jailed Lecistani opposition

Image
Opposition parties in Lecistan protested yesterday
over the arrests of over 500 of its members

ABERLEFEN, SCOTIA - Her Majesty Queen Caroline has stated that she supported for the embattled opposition in Lecistan two weeks before elections in the Grand Duchy on 6 October, coming after the Nevan-backed government has arrested more than 500 opposition leaders on dubious charges of "conspiracy against the Grand Duchy."

The statement, released by the Royal Chamberlain to reporters, read in part that Her Majesty "wishes to extend [her] support to the embattled opposition in Lecistan as they fight for freedom, justice, and democracy in their country. ... The supporters of the Rally for Lecistani Sovereignty, Society of Socialists, and the Lecistan Social Democrats have been unjustly jailed for no reason other than to attempt to intimidate the opposition, and it is my firm belief that these prisoners of conscience should be released without delay." She also condemned the Nevan government's earlier kidnapping of suspected republican supporters earlier in the month, calling them "hostages to a government that flouts every manner of international law and pays no heed to their civil liberties" before going on to demand their release as well.

The statement came after protests erupted in cities across Lecistan yesterday over the arrests of these individuals, with several in the Dàil, in particular Leader of the Opposition George Lu also voicing their support. The Scotian Government has yet to officially respond.

Uncertainty in Stock Market and Bank Securities Cause Mass Unrest in Downtown Sinro

Image
Officers clash with demonstrators outside of the Federal Reserve Bank of New Zepuha

September 18th, 2015 - Late Edition

Sinro City, New Zepuha - Downtown Sinro is abuzz with activity and much distress as demonstrators began clogging the streets surrounding the financial district downtown. Protesters, many clad in black waving anarchist flags, descended upon downtown Sinro railing against government failure to prevent the current financial crisis. As the stock market took another 100 point hit, making a whopping 250 point drop in just a month, demonstrators took to the streets. Many blamed the Federal Reserve bank for not putting in place necessary precautions for the recession. Others are blaming the inept handling of the Southern Insurgency for producing an unstable market for investors.

Around 4 o'clock this evening, a group of demonstrators attempted to rush the doors of the federal reserve bank, which had by that point been shuttered and surrounded with police. The wave of demonstrators clashed with the Sinro City Magistrate in what is thought to be one of the bloodiest scuffles between police and citizenry since the anti-war protests a few months back where many protesters were gunned down by the national defense force. A twenty minute struggle between the two groups comprised of frenzied hand to hand combat, and liberal usage of stinger grenades. Six demonstrators and two magisters were hospitalized, over twenty arrests were made before police managed to disperse the crowd.

Since that time, demonstrators have began camping out in Sinro Central park, the popular hub for demonstrators to gather. As reports of vandalism of banks continue to flood in, police have began dispersing demonstrators out of the financial district at this time. Chancellor Knitler nor the King have made comment yet, though the Mayor of Sinro is calling for peace in a city so often rocked by unrest. While Magistrate Chief Haltermann has issued a warning that demonstrators caught looting will be shot on sight, and that the financial district is off limits to demonstrators. We will keep you updated as the situation unfolds.

Jobs Reports See Continued Rise in Unemployment
Image
More uncertainty appears in Pavonistade after
unemployment continues to rise.

The latest jobs reports for Pavonistade have added concern to the economy and employment in the next few months, as it was revealed that again more jobs have been lost and more people are being left without work.

The national unemployment rate has risen to 5.5% during August, which is being compared to 5.2% reported in July. In this report, Eastern Islands and Western Pavonistade received greater beating than the other five states as both were responsible for the majority of job losses (over 260,000 across Pavonistade). Aside from this the wages of employees across different sectors were noticeably reduced. This has come concurrently with a recession thought to have started after the Ministry of Economics documented a second consecutive contraction on September 1.

It is expected that if the decline slows or stops next year, it could take up to 12+ months to recuperate from damages. The Vadopolis Stock Exchange (VSE) also saw repeated drops in points although the downturn has started to slow. Despite economic worries and fears, Minister of Economics Carlos Xavier and several economists are calling for the public to not panic or be pessimistic.

Eastern Islands See New Rise in Tourism
Image
Magistrate International Airport. The state to which it
belongs is seeing a tourism phenomenon related to
the De-Radicalization Act.

Government agencies of Eastern Islands reported that tourism in the Eastern Islands, known both for its sites of indigenous artifacts and its conflicts among different groups, has increased to a level not seen since the 1990s.

It is believed that the phenomenon was made possible after the signature of the De-Radicalization Act earlier on September 1. Its proscription of "extremist" beliefs and hate crimes made the Eastern Islands the last of the seven states to outlaw the two aforementioned items. It also led to the departure of prominent controversial figures (such as Purity Congress' Valdis Kortchens) from Pavonistade and the dramatic increase in tourists entering the state despite a recession.

"The amount of entrants that [Eastern Islands] is receiving is at its highest since 1990," stated Eastern Islander government representative Rosa Tylers. While extensive information was given about recent tourism statistics and possible impacts on the Eastern Islander economy, there is a lack of mention about possible causes of the phenomenon. Tyler also stated it is not expected that this situation would last very long.

New levels of tourists are also seen with increased numbers of demonstrations celebrating or supporting the De-Radicalization Act, and some are suggesting that visitors of Eastern Islands may include protest participating in their trips.

"No Moral Responsibility" Leads to Anger
Image
Minister of Foreign Affairs Elisabeth Rifkins found
herself in hot water after indicating Pavonistade was not
obligated to support its Ocelotian neighbor.

Controversy surrounds Minister of Foreign Affairs Elisabeth Rifkins following a press conference regarding the Ocelotian crisis, in which she state that Pavonistade does and will not need to demonstrate support for the Ocelot Isles.

In the press conference, Minister Rifkins stated that "the crisis and chaos experienced by Ocelotians are very disconcerting". However she also stated that "there has always been no moral responsibility for our country to provide any form of assistance to an independent sovereign Ocelot Isles". She added that "as the crisis is deemed not adequately severe, there is no moral responsibility to enact full measures for Pavonistadians in the Ocelot Isles".

Many critics took the opportunity to imply that her speech refers to consequences resulting from Ocelotian independence in 2014, although others that criticized Minister Rifkins do not believe this is in any way involved with OIIR 2014. This response also drew ire from Pavonistadians and Ocelotians alike, desiring for Pavonistadian intervention in the Ocelotian social and economic crisis.
