Pitkänen: NOSDO's task to protect stability in the North Sea still relevant
Nevanlinna - Nevan Foreign Minister Johannes Pitkänen has criticized to Vyvlander opposition leader Niklas Brule's and former Geadish prime minister Manfred Hägen's statements regarding Nevanmaa's NOSDO membership as irresponsible, stating that "such statements put into risk the stability and peace in the North Sea region."
Pitkänen's statement was issued after Manfred Hägen stated that Nevanmaa leaving NOSDO would be "inevitable". Pitkänen reminded that NOSDO has successfully promoted "never before seen stability in Northern Esquarium" and warned other nations from being lulled into a false sense of security. Pitkänen also reminded people that "NOSDO's duty to combat Unolian aggression and Luziycan and Namorese interference in the internal affairs of Northern Sea nations has worked spectacularly for one and a half decades. It would be foolish to abandon such an excellent peace project because of petty political games".
NOSDO's popularity in Geadland and Vyvland has decreased to very low levels after the suffrage referendum, with only one in four Vyvlanders believing that co-operation with Nevanmaa should be continued. Similar disagreeing opinions have been heard in Geadland as well.
Nevan representative in the NOSDO, Mauno Sammalpuro has also urged other NOSDO nations to refrain from "performing erratic actions that could boost instability in the region." Sammalpuro reminded that "even though nations in the Northern Sea are culturally different, it should be remembered that NOSDO is not a cultural exchange program or a political union. It is a purely defensive alliance that benefits us all."
In Nevanmaa, recent opinion poll by Valtakunnankysely showed that approximately 59% of Nevans support Nevanmaa's membership in the NOSDO, with 27% opposing and 14% refusing to state their opinion.
