TOO LATE TO APOLOGIZE?
After a meeting with Fu Wen, Luziyca seems prepared to redouble its efforts in Qianrong-
but after months of apathy, can the Luziycan-Qianrongese relationship be saved?

YUCHENG, QIANRONG- OCTOBER 20th, 2014 - While we can't be sure exactly what was said between Fu Wen and Breuvi Shjoraski, we can guess this much: Qianrong's new friends in New Zepuha were brought up, and both Fu and Shjoraski agreed that more action needed to be taken to keep Qianrong away from the Namophobic and autocratic Zepuhan regime. And both leaders came before the press with their common plans for the revival of the Qianrongese-Luziycan relationship.

The common plan in question seems to have three main points.

First, try to prevent Qianrong from associating with New Zepuha. "Mr. Shjoraski and I went over this during the discussions," Fu Wen told Zepuhan dissident media. "He said that Luziyca- and possibly [Namor]- will provide aid to the Qianrongese only if they agree not to accept aid from New Zepuha. Qianrong has two roads ahead, and cannot take both at the same time- they can get aid from Luziyca or they can get aid from New Zepuha. If Qianrong accepts aid from New Zepuha, Luziyca won't aid Qianrong. The same goes for us; we will not help Qianrong sort out its problems if they want the Zepuhans to do it instead."

Second, get rid of Qianrong's nuclear defense program. Fu Wen told the press that "A nuclear-armed Qianrong is detrimental to both stability in the East Namor Sea, and the domestic situation in Qianrong," though he failed to specify how. And Breuvi Shjoraski told the press that, after his return to Bethlehem, he would immediately begin "negotiating a plan to remove nuclear weapons from Qianrongese soil.

And third, Luziyca and Namor both taking a more active role in preventing attacks by the ASQ. Shjoraski told the press that "we plan on activating LAFB Yucheng to help search for Chancellor Song Li-Chao," the first support Luziyca has given the FDRQ throughout the entire Second Domestic Terror War. Fu also expressed a willingness to aid Qianrong; "Both us and Luziyca are closer to Qianrong than New Zepuha is, and if anything goes wrong we have a mandate to do something about it," he told a Zepuhan reporter. He then told a Ministry of Information reporter that "If you want some help in keeping your country stable, you could just give us a call."

The overall message that Luziyca and Namor want to send to Qianrong was eloquently summarized by President-General Fu: "No one has abandoned anyone, no one will abandon anyone, the status quo needs to stay in the East Sea."

Is Fu being entirely honest, though? If we go back to June of this year, when the Second Domestic Terror War really began in earnest and during the opening days of the Fall of Peitoa, Luziyca and Namor both have terrible track records with Qianrong. On June 3, Chancellor Song Li-Chao was abducted by the ASQ in Hai Nang, as part of a terror attack that left 50 other people dead. Neither Luziyca nor Namor offered condolences or any sort of assistance; Luziyca didn't even respond to the kidnapping. In the days following the Peitoan seizure of the Changlang ferry, the common foreign policy that Chancellor Song and President Shjoraski had established in regards to Peitoa collapsed after Luziyca announced opposition to the RON as Qianrong announced support. On June 9, in what is generally considered an act of piracy, the Namorese navy assaulted the Qianrongese-flagged and Zepuhan-manned Trang Vai on smuggling grounds, even though neither Qianrong nor New Zepuha had passed any trade restrictions against the Peitoan autocracy- as if the FDRQ and New Zepuha have to follow sanctions passed by Namor's CenCo. Luziyca made no moves to support Qianrong, nor did it urge for the Trang Vai's release. On June 22, the ASQ confirmed that it had taken Song hostage and began to release videos of him being tortured. Neither Luziyca nor Namor made any move against the ASQ, and again they remained largely silent on the issue. It was at this point that New Zepuha, already close to Qianrong because of the Trang Vai incident, offered aid against the ASQ. Qianrong accepted- likely because Luziyca continued to do nothing. On July 11, the NSF attacked an ASQ hideout in Xiangmen. Again, no offers of support or assistance. The following day, foreign troops first engaged ASQ forces- not Namorese or Luziycan soldiers, but Zepuha's Jägerkommandos. In August, Qianrong began detente with Namor; despite several moves by Qianrong, little reaction was elicited from the Namorese. On August 12, 27 died in the bombing of a Yinglidao church; still no support from Luziyca, or offers for support from Namor. On August 24, the Zepuhan royal family visited Yucheng as part of a global tour; even this did not illicit a reaction out of Bethlehem or Namo. Finally, on the 27th, in its singular act of detente towards Qianrong, Namor returned the stolen Trang Vai after nearly three months. In return, Qianrong dropped its accusations that Namor was funding the ASQ in the fictional Operation All In. On September 13, when Massean ships began patrolling the East Namor Sea as an attempt to intimidate Qianrong, Namor did nothing and neither did Luziyca- though New Zepuha offered to hold naval drills with Qianrong. On September 29, the now-infamous "No Comment" gaffe by Shjoraski spokeswoman Monica Thatcher occurred; Thatcher was dodging a question posed by an RFQ reporter about Luziyca's nonexistent aid to Qianrong against the ASQ. On October 1, Fu Wen told the press that Namor would not act for or against the ASQ, saying that "things should be handled by Yucheng." On the 15th, over 270 Qianrongese civilians were killed in a massive series of coordinated ASQ attacks on Danh Dap, Shanliang, Xiangmen, and Lumangdaungan. And over the past 24 hours, 80 more civilians have died in attacks on Seongyun, Vinh Quang, and Mengtian. And it is only now that Luziyca and Namor want to help.

Why do they want to help, though? Certainly not humanitarian purposes, otherwise they would have been helping us since June 3rd- like the Zepuhans. More likely is that Shjoraski and Fu looked at a timeline like the one I've just provided you, and come to the same conclusion: Luziyca has abandoned us and betrayed the alliance, and Namor certainly doesn't seem to want the best for us, but New Zepuha has been giving us all the assistance we want and then some.

This is quite obviously something that neither country wants- Luziyca is about to have one less country in its sphere, and Namor is about to see New Zepuhs gain a foothold in the East Namor Sea. The irony in this is that the entire situation is their fault. If the CRL and PRN had done more in June and July, Qianrong would never have gone to New Zepuha for help, and the future of Qianrong would not be a concern for Fu or Shjoraski. But with Luziyca gone AWOL and Namor opposing the FDRQ, it turned to a nation that not only said it would help, but kept its word. And that nation just so happened to be New Zepuha.

But could Luziyca and Namor still somehow stop the various impending Qianrongese-Zepuhan agreements and initiatives and joint actions? Can those old relationships, between Qianrong and Namor and Luziyca, still be resuscitated? Can the two most powerful countries in Western Esquarium uphold the status quo in the East Namor Sea?

It just so happened that Breuvi Shjoraski answered that question for us at his joint press conference with Fu Wen: "...I personally feel that it has an ice cube's chance in hell."

Why? Well, look at the status quo for Qianrong. All those terror attacks, the blood of innocent civilians in the streets, the fear permeating every aspect of your lifestyle, the NSF repression combined with ASQ assaults. For the Qianrongese people, that is the status quo that Fu and Shjoraski have committed to upholding. By contrast, New Zepuha is determined to change that status quo. While the FDRQ will no doubt continue to oppress the people- and will undoubtedly adopt New Zepuha's ruthless tactics- an alliance with New Zepuha means that the Qianrongese people may at least no longer have to worry about whether or not they're going to be murdered by the ASQ before the day is out. We have no reason to believe that Luziyca or Namor will carry through with their promises to send help to fight the ASQ; they certainly haven't helped us in the past. Song Li-Chao was kidnapped only a few days after meeting Breuvi Shjoraski in Yucheng and Kenyen; he didn't even offer condolences to Song's wife, Song Mei-Bao, and their three children. All Namor did was "urge for calm"; perhaps the only response weaker than that was the MoI's response to the shooting of Feliks Oleg- that is, silence. And now, we're just supposed to trust them? We're supposed to blindly accept that they'll start helping now? Sorry, Luziyca and Namor, someone's already offered to join us in fighting the ASQ, and they've actually been helpful.

While it's disappointing that the FDRQ will choose to associate with a psychotic dictatorship with an even worse human rights record than Qianrong, and while this means that Qianrong itself is likely to remain oppressive and restrictive, it is no longer reasonable to pretend that Qianrong could stay close to Luziyca or become close to Namor. Because it doesn't dare guarantee liberty, Yucheng is going to make sure that it can guarantee security- and New Zepuha seems to be the best candidate for that.

There is, however, still an opportunity for revolution: before New Zepuha comes, but after Luziyca leaves. In this moment, Qianrong will be truly alone- and we can guarantee our liberty and independence once and for all.

Growing Pains
With a move towards integration, will the parliament comply with the Kings wishes?

October 20th, 2014

Sinro City, New Zepuha - We all know that our most beneficent King has announced a plan to begin re-integration, and it will be a slow process just finding them housing. Troops all across the country have been busy securing the operations that will begin placing ethnics back into housing and their former workplaces before they were removed by Kraig's law. By the time they are successfully resettled, it will be time enough to begin allowing the capitalist system to take it's course. But will that be enough, and will the old racist regime continue to hold over?

In it's latest show of defiance the National Coalition has tried to defy the King's orders by walking out of a parliamentary session. While most members of the National Coalition are respectfully swearing their fealty to the king and following orders, hard right rabble rousers in the Conservative party have blatantly defied the King. Four unnamed members of the party left during a vote on an important bill on raising the funding towards the military and foreign aid. Making the vote unable to be completed, as law requires that all members either cast a vote or abstain from voting. In a surprising move though, the speaker of the house called for the members to be removed from parliament immediately and initiated an emergency vote. This type of move has not been seen since the late 1800s when congress up and left the public light.

The King did not only support this move but had the four members of parliament under arrest for high treason and crimes against the crown. Of course though, this move was not made until after the vote of no confidence succeeded and the members removed from parliament. Emergenccy elections are to take place in their respective districts, but the conservative party is no longer predicted to win. In fact, the National coalition has considered banishing the party from the coalition altogether in favor of reforming as a more moderate coalition by admitting the Free Whig party to the coalition. [[Note: The Free Whig party is a new party formed by the merger of a minor party and the Constitution Party]] The vote is expected to take place at the end of the week, to coincide with the district elections.

With elections nearly three months away from now, many are trying to figure out what exactly is going to happen. News of integration has spurred a new generation of freedom fighters to take up the political gambit, to show that the country is not afraid to push out the aging government they have now and replace it with a modern free society. This has been shown with the rising popularity of the federalist party over the Royalist and Conservative party, while the Progress Coalition has shown to be less popular with morality valuing citizens. It is clear to some that the moderates will triumph over the right.

The threat of violence still looms over the nation as integration goes on with chilly light. Hopefully the visit with Qianrongese officials will alleviate some of these symptoms.

Yucheng rejects Namo's aid when they needed it, and now accuses us of not helping them? Just what does Yucheng want?
Наморайин | English

In an article by Radio Free Qianrong (or Qian-wrong) as I shall call it from here on in), it says that the Qianwrongese is certainly going to get aid from fascist New Zepuha and there's no avoiding that because Namor and Luziyca apparently failed to help Qianwrong help itself. The article contained not only some strong language against Qianwrong's ally (Luziyca), but against our country too.

Resistance fighters in Qianrong are flexing their muscles
against the government. The Sovereignty Alliance of
Qianrong (ASQ) has the support of many oppressed non-
Minjianese people in Qianrong.

Radio Free Qianrong wrote:This is quite obviously something that neither country wants- Luziyca is about to have one less country in its sphere, and Namor is about to see New Zepuha gain a foothold in the East Namor Sea. What?

Personally, I can't believe even the Qianwrongese dissident media can't get the truth they swear by heaven with straight---it's as if they're serving as a mouthpiece of the regime's frustrations. Namor did not help Qianwrong fight the Sovereignty Alliance? Sure, we didn't, because we couldn't have. Qianwrong never gave us a chance.

Looking at the timeline of events, we see that Qianwrong's attack on an ASQ base in Xiangmen could've not have been followed by a Namorese willingness to assist the regime. State media alleged without any proof whatsoever that "Liberationist Namor" armed ASQ (then still the Tuhaoese Liberation Army) militants. Where were these "arms," pray tell us? In Xiangmen!

Why would Qianwrong ask for Namorese support during a time when it regarded (or more like wanted others to regard) Namor as the ASQ's benefactor prime? Qianwrong implied it didn't want to help them fight their enemies since we're ostensibly arming their enemies. Had we helped, Qianwrong's fictitious narrative of foreign backing of the ASQ would've been shattered. How do the Qianwrongese like that?

The Tuhaoese Liberation Army (TLA) abducted Song Li-chao, but Namor didn't care. Again, this happened when Qianwrong alleged the militants to be Namorese proxies. Why would they want to invite us in if they said we're the cause of their troubles? Qianwrong's policy was that we are their enemy, and as their enemy they are not going to invite us into their country to help solve their problems. There. That's how we weren't in Qianwrong since June or July.

And surprise, before New Zepuha had any contact with Qianwrong, who did Qianwrong praise as an ally who shares common interests and values but now says they weren't? The Imperialist State! Somebody's position has shifted and it wasn't ours'.

What does this tell us? Qianwrong didn't want our help when they needed it, but now they're all over us, taunting us of having to fear the rise of a new Zepuhan client state because we never helped them? I sincerely can't tell if this is the behavior of a helpless people or just plain baby talk. I'll assume it's both. You can't get more Qianwrong than this. Legit, it's all Qianwrong's fault because they always opposed Namor and didn't want us to solve their problems. If they're having problems now and explaining why it's "too late" for us to step in, they only have themselves to blame.

So if now Qianwrong is on its way to forge an alliance with New Zepuha soon, so be it. It won't be long before Zepuha is plagued with its own problems and will have to spoonfeed itself before Qianwrong. Then, as we're working on more important stuff like kicking Fu out of office, we'll watch Qianwrongese media perform the same "Why did you not help us?" shit in front of the Zepuhan king. Then they'll look for new allies and the cycle goes on.

Until Qianwrong meets the Friendly Ally of Anarchy.

Emergency services in Angkapalaran move to put out a fire started by an ASQ bomb

QIANRONG HIT BY THIRD MAJOR ASQ ATTACK IN A WEEK; 168 DEAD AFTER ATTACKS ON ANGKAPALARAN, THONG NHAT, CAIFAN
by DONG TRINH TAN - OCTOBER 21 2014
YUCHENG, QIANRONG - 168 more Qianrongese men, women, and children have died in a series of major ASQ attacks on the cities of Angkapalaran, Thong Nhat, and Caifan. The attacks today come after a series of attacks on the 20th in Seoungyun, Vinh Quang, and Mengtian that killed 82, and a series of attacks on Lumangdaungan, Shanliang, Xiangmen, and Danh Dap on the 15th that killed 277. This means that, within the past week, the ASQ has killed a total of 527 Qianrongese civilians in their continuing campaign against the government and people of the Free Democratic Republic of Qianrong.

ASQ ATTACKS, BY NUMBER KILLED
(incomplete list)

XIANGMEN 10/15- 113
SHANLIANG 10/15- 96
THONG NHAT 10/21- 71
HAI NANG 6/3- 58
ANGKAPALARAN 10/21- 52
LUMANGDAUNGAN 10/15- 47
CAIFAN 10/21- 45
VINH QUANG 10/20- 34
SHANLIANG 8/12- 27
SEONGYUN 10/20- 25
MENGTIAN 10/20- 23
DANH DAP 10/15- 21
The first of today's attacks was an attack on the Cong Nghiep industrial district in the city of Thong Nhat, in which a series of car bombs were detonated outside of factory complexes. This was followed by an attack on a public park in Caifan, where ASQ terrorists attacked civilians walking through the park. And in the third attack, ASQ members detonated several bombs outside an NSF recruitment facility in Angkapalaran, in an apparent attempt to discourage the Qianrongese people from fighting back against terrorism.

The ASQ posted a video today claiming responsibility for the attacks on the 20th and the attacks today, saying that "we will make sure that our message is clear to all of Qianrong: the total and absolute destruction of the FDRQ, at any cost." The ASQ truly seems to be trying to attack all of Qianrong: in addition to butchering Minjianese people, they have also slaughtered Tuhaoese and Mahusaynese people. They have attacked both the followers of Tiangzongjiao and Yinglidao. They have attacked apartment buildings, public transport, government buildings, factories, and public parks alike. Their campaign of terror is one that is directed against every Qianrongese, and they show little care about their brutal murders of innocent Qianrongese civilians.

A spokesman for the National Security Forces has told the press that these attacks "are the dying thrashes of a cornered animal", stating that the NSF's growing campaign against ASQ terrorists was about to destroy the ASQ once and for all, and that "the despicable murderers in the ASQ are simply trying to inflict as much evil as they can before their inevitable demise." He complimented the Qianrongese people on our "fierce defiance of evil, national pride, and faith in our triumph over evil."

Luziyca has recently said that it would, after months of inaction, begin using its base in Yucheng to help fight against the ASQ; Namor has also offered assistance, though many in the National Assembly have challenged the trustworthiness and authenticity of Fu Wen's offer, fearing that it might be a plot to start a coup or to restart their role in Operation All In. Acting Chancellor Hsieh and Acting Defense-Intelligence Minister are also in Sinro City, New Zepuha, no doubt negotiating with the Zepuhan government to create a program that will bolster antiterrorism efforts in both countries.

As with previous attacks, the NSF has not yet released the names of those suspected of the attacks, in order to ensure that the suspects are not misidentified. In addition, the three cities hit today have been added to the cities placed on lockdown- a list which now includes 10 major Qianrongese cities. The National Security Forces have told the press that these techniques are the best possible ways of capturing those responsible for these heinous crimes.

Come on, NSF! Realize that Luziyca won't ever do anything for us, and begin handling this yourself!

Ludrymil Jahernov 67 4
Srsly, though, Namor offering to help us? Why the hell should we trust the Namorese?

Minh Trung Dong 152 1
Can anyone explain why the hell the Namorese think we support the ASQ? RFQ calls for the destruction of the FDRQ at the end of every article, and even they've admitted they'll take the NSF over the ASQ. There is literally no reason for us to support a roving gang of murderers and psychopaths, and yet... people think we do, for some reason? WTF?

Karangalang Magsasaka 290 4
@Minh Trung Dong, if the Namorese actually think that, I'm going to guess that the Namorese are just moronic.

Shang Yung-Wei 301 1
It's defiance towards evil and fighting for victory that have brought us to this point, with the ASQ desperately attempting to fight their now-unavoidable destruction... we're so close to total victory, and our unity must not falter now!

Nguyen Sinh Tan 229 1
@Shang Yung-Wei, hallelujah!

Shan Xi-Chuan 143 2
Remember, this stuff takes time... Hsieh is no doubt doing as much as he can to guarantee our continued safety and liberty.

Nguyen Duong Hoa 229 2
Luziycans and Namorese are confused as to why we're looking to New Zepuha for aid? It's because the Zepuhans actually help us against the ASQ bastards.

Zlatosveta Feliksova 64 3
@Nguyen Duong Hoa The only problem with that is that it continues the ancient tradition of Qianrong being a vassal. We were a vassal of the Namorese monarchies, then the Republic of Namor, and at present, we're vassals of the Christian Republic of Luziyca. Moving to being a vassal of New Zepuha isn't going to solve this; we'll still be used as a pawn of world powers, and these powers will continue to view us as a disposable resource, not as a proud and sovereign nation.

Leung Men-Xiang 145 28
168 more deaths that the NSF should have prevented.

Cao Van Giap 178 19
@Leung Men-Xiang, shut up. You work for the RFQ, you're a fucking traitor, just like the ASQ dogs.

Makinang Binay 254 3
This is just the Week from Hell... I send my condolences to the families of those who were murdered by the ASQ, and I pray to Heaven that this terror ordeal can just end as quickly as possible.

Tai Bei-Fa 136 0
The ASQ needs to be taught a serious lesson. We all need to do as much as we can to kick their asses, and avenge the murdered.

West Cedarbrook 1 - Evening News, with David Haber
7:20 PM Wrycova Central Time

<Haber> Turning now to overseas news, our correspondent Magda Lewandowsky sat down today with External Affairs Secretary Dr. Theodore Warshawsky, in his Wrycova office.
We present their discussion now, in our "Around the World in 5 Questions" feature.

<Lewandowsky> Dr. Warshawsky, there have been rumors this week about a State Visit to Wrycova by Gillenor Prime Minister Amadeus Firedancer, and possibly the Emperor Tiber IV and Empress Amelia.
Can you give us any information about this?

Image

<Warshawsky> There isn't anything to report officially yet, although you know we would welcome a visit by Prime Minister Firedancer and by the Imperial Family. Any announcement would have
to go through official channels, here and in Osserheim. Gillenor has for a long time been close to us, both in foreign and defense policy, and through many personal ties between our people
and the Nemryillic world. What we have seen since President Feld's visit to Osserheim earlier this year is progress in all areas discussed with the Prime Minister at the time. Tensions
across the South Central have been reduced in the time since that visit. Salk University is opening a branch of their Chemistry Department's Qualitative Analysis laboratory in Gillenor
in conjunction with participating Gillenorian colleges and professional associations, to further research in that vital area. There are ongoing contacts with Gillenorian business
counterparts in the areas of plant biotechnology. And several of our companies are coordinating with Gillenorian import, licensing and testing requirements for
mobile devices. Since President Feld's Osserheim visit there has been an ongoing review review of anti-money laundering practices. This is an important component of fraud reduction,
and improving financial security for our citizens in both our nations.

We have had discussions also with the Department of Education about broadening the availability of Nemryllic language and culture coursework for our students.
The Department of Education is planning to increase Nemryllic and Gillenorian culture offerings in Secondary Schools, possibly by a third. Nemryllic is, of course, the
second major foreign language offering in the secondary schools today. Some interest we've seen lately has been sparked by the current onging Chappeaux IV exercises in the South Central.

So, I can't provide any official information about a State Visit at this time, but I know that President Feld, and most Cedarbrookese would welcome such an event.

<Lewandowsky> Turning now to the Namor-Luzyica summit, some have expressed displeasure that Fu Wen and Breuvi Shjoraski are purposely ignoring Eastern Esquarium. I refer to this statement from Michillian Foreign Secretary Caspio Torrenatto :"I don't know if you've been looking at social media, but we still exist, Wen. I respect that you have business with Luziyca to deal with, but we demand respect at the bare minimum over here.", and this from Cata Larga's Director-General Sant-Emile: "We want answers, we want solutions, and we want them now," in pleading with President-General Fu of Namor to "press for answers about the nations unjustly couped in Southeast Esquarium", and asking that the "northern great powers [Luziyca and Namor] to not treat us 'insignificants', as they may see us [Eastern Esquarian nations], as pawns towards their goal of detente".

Mr. Secretary, do you believe West Cedarbrook is being left out at the Namor negotiations?

<Warshawsky> In a word: No. This is a matter of two of the larger powers in the Northwest coming closer together. I don't see how their discussions exclude us or impact decisions in
Wrycova. For us, as always, our priority is the peace of South Central Ocean, growth in trade and technological development within the Southern Union community, and a productive and free Southern continent. Bilateral relations are good now with Luzyica and Namor, and I don't see anything coming out of the discussions there upsetting this. One problem that persists in that region is continuing instability in Qianrong.

In Qianrong instability has been heightened by recent terror attacks. There is fear permeating throughout their society. For the Qianrongese people, some have said that Fu and Shjoraski have committed to upholding a status quo that does not address that fear. New Zepuha appears to have a significant interest in that situation, and some there have feared their approach to stamping out the terrorists. Will Luziyca or Namor will carry through with their promises to send help to fight the ASQ? Their involvement might provide a better approach to fighting terrorism, but only time will tell if they will become involved in this effort. In the end there will the terrorist threat needs to be resolved. And that, and the resultant face of
Qianrong in the aftermath is most likely of greater concern to both Namor and Luzyica than events in Eastern Esquarium.

Look - Luzyica is an important trade partner, for us and for all developed nations across Esquarium. Namor has lagged economically, but President-General Fu's ascendency holds out the
promise for a better way of life for Namor, and increasing trade opportunities. I can see where an impetus behind that summit is for furthering Namorese development. We'll have to take statements coming from the summit at face value. Nothing has really come to light that indicates any kind of change or threat coming from there impacting the South, or the Continent.

So I don't share a concern that the summit is unduly ignoring Eastern Esquarium. Besides, do you really want any special attention directed at the South Central, or at the Continent?

<Lewandowsky> Mr. Secretary, Cata Larga's Director-General Pietre Sant-Emile has indicated frustration with Luzyican intervention in neighboring Eastern Esquarium nations, citing
recent CIA led coups. How close are we to resolution of the far Eastern issues still active?

<Warshawsky> You know, to this date we haven't gotten a straight response regarding CIA involvement in the Ocidenian coup. We've had to rely on diplomatic and military intelligence,
and observers on the ground. Overall, we continue to monitor the far east situation on a country by country basis. At this time all redpapers and other restrictions on commerce have
been lifted in the far east, with the exception of Ocidenia. And with the Sandhelm negotiations between factions in that country, we will lift that redpaper upon a satisfactory conclusion.

I can understand the Director-General's frustration. These coups have placed Cata Larga in a center of instability, and run up security costs for him. Although we can offer understanding, again, there's very little we can offer of substance in the far east.

<Lewandowsky> Is the proposed liberalization of racial and religious restrictions in New Zephua likely to cause a significant change in relations with them?

<Warshawsky> We welcome any opening for improvement of relations with New Zephua. But the realization of this opportunity is dependent on lifting their Inquisition. This is a prerequisite for serious progress. In no case will West Cedarbrook put the lives of it's citizens at risk before exploring any opening with New Zephua. The King is apparently trying to move his nation into the community of civilized society by ordering the repeal of discriminatory and oppressive ordinances. In this respect, King von Auschlogen is moving in the right direction.

I think all reasonable Cedarbrookese will agree with this.

<Lewandowsky> Finally Mr. Secretary, you have served the nation as our chief diplomat in two administrations. Have you given any thought as to retirement in the future?

<Warshawsky> Someday I will retire. I've been around a long time! The recent death of King Albert II of Geadland takes out yet another world leader from past years with whom I've had a close relationship. And I suppose you'd want to ask me about successors. Luckily, you only get 5 questions! There have been rumors about the Vice President having greater interest in world affairs. Let me say this: I'm very proud of how Paula Davidoff has educated herself in our foreign policy. And she's not shy about voicing an opinion! It is only right that a possible successor to the presidency be heavily involved in foreign affairs. But I can't see her vacating the Vice Presidency for this job. And she's never expressed interest in it. Some have also speculated about the ambitions of the Attorney General. I have been friends with the Arnstein family for many years. But Elliot never has expressed interest in, or even much opinion about foreign policy, excepting areas of criminal extradition treaties. And in that case, this office should not be viewed as the property of the old nobility! As part of my executive duties I have been constantly reviewing senior department staff with an eye to succession. There are several in External Affairs, both in the Wrycova staff, and several Ambassadors who could step into this position. But I continue to serve at the pleasure of President Feld, and don't have any immediate plans to retire.

<Lewandowsky> Thank you Dr. Warshawsky. That wraps up "Around the World in 5 Questions". Back to you, David.

Serhoskav extends condolences, outlines new policy to Qianrong

VP Nikolai Serhoskav at a conference

BETHLEHEM, F.C. - After his return from the funeral of King Albert II of Geadland, in light of recent terrorist attacks by the ASQ, Vice-President Nikolai Serhoskav has issued a statement, extending condolences to the families of the 168 victims and also announced a new policy directed against them, as a result of the summit between President-General Fu Wen of Namor and President Breuvi Shjoraski.

Mr. Serhoskav has said, "We extend our sincere condolences for the victims of the recent terrorist attacks in the areas of Angkapalaran, Thong Nhat, and Caifan, and we apologize to all Qianrongese for having ignored their plight in the past few months. While we are certain that many won't forgive us for having betrayed them, we will try to mend the relations as soon as possible."

"However," Serhoskav went on to say, "we will activate LAFB Yucheng and send soldiers to help find Chancellor Song Li-Chao under one condition: that the Qianrongese government refuses any more aid from New Zepuha and ends any existing aid from that country. If the Qianrongese refuse to do so, we will reduce our role within the country, and not provide them with much of the assistance that they have relied upon for the past half-century. But if the authorities in Yucheng do accept our offer, we will send a division of 3,500 troops to help search the area and find the Chancellor and increase our role to prevent terrorist attacks, as well as give twenty five million lira (50 million lira) per year to be spent on improved security measures to prevent terrorism."

"It is their crossroads, they can stick with us," Serhoskav said, "or they can switch to New Zepuha. It is their decision, and if they make that choice, we will respect the decision, but the latter will bring some harm in the long run."

President-General announces plan to "curb" Qianrongese militants
Announcement comes after escalation of ASQ attacks in Qianrong, Fu to seek "broad alliance"
October 21, NMR 2371

NAMO, CAPITAL DISTRICT - President-General Fu Wen announced today that Namor will engage in a plan to combat militants belonging to the Sovereignty Alliance of Qianrong (ASQ) organization, which for years has been involved in a bloody insurgency against the Qianrongese government.

The announcement comes after ASQ militants escalated attacks against civilians and military personnel in Qianrong; according to state media, attacks have scattered across the country in areas like Angkapalaran, Thong Ngat and Caifan. So far, within the past week, 527 people have died from the violence. It remains unclear how exactly these people ended up dying, although Yucheng is blaming these deaths on the ASQ's "continuing campaign against the government and people of the Free Democratic Republic of Qianrong."

The latest violence is raising concerns that instability is rising in Qianrong, and can lead to a full-scale civil war if the government---which for a long time has ruled the populace with an iron fist---fails to preserve order. Right now, Qianrong is seeking allies from New Zepuha to combat the militants. Many Qianrongese officials no longer see Luziyca---a longtime ally of Qianrong---as a reliable ally, and are counting on Zepuhan assistance to fight the ASQ.

"The ongoing violence in Qianrong worries us," said President-General Fu in a televised address. "Hundreds of people have already succumbed to the bloodshed. The violence in Qianrong needs to deescalate if we want a lasting peace in the East Sea. We need to act with responsible parties to make sure this does not intensify into a situation nobody wants to see. As such, I announce today that the People's Republic of Namor is formulating a plan to curb the threat coming from militants in Qianrong so that country---and the East Sea---can be prevented from descending into chaos. In our involvement, we will stay resolute, we will stay firm, and we will not yield.

"There will be no boots on the ground," said Fu, confirming that future plans for Namorese intervention will not involve the mobilization of ground forces.

However, the President-General hinted that he does not want possible Namorese involvement to benefit the Qianrongese government or its emerging special relationship with New Zepuha, saying that "by curbing the militant threat, we do not seek to let the world know that we are 100% supportive of the activities of the Qianrongese regime and who they're bonding with to deal with this situation."

Namor will not intervene alone, said Fu; instead, it will seek a "broad alliance" of countries, ranging from residual Luziycan forces in Qianrong and WETO allies, to participate in the intervention together. He is planning on meeting Luziycan and Aininian officials to discuss the developments.

Is a last minute turn around from Luziyca going to be enough to save their slipping toehold?

Foreign Minister Goebeltz railing against the shameful display from Luziyca

October 21st, 2014

Sinro City, New Zepuha - As anyone could see at this point in the game, things are becoming desperate for the Luziycans and Namorese to keep a great friend away from Sinro. The Luziycans are making a last ditch effort to throw in their troops to save their precious toehold in the East Namor Sea. The plain fact of the matter is that the New Zepuhan people are more willing and ready to help their friends across the sea, as has been proven as our fellow countrymen stood alongside the NSF in their campaign against the ASQ. It is clear now that Namor fears the idea of having New Zepuhan troops so close to it's territory, an unfounded idea rooted in paranoia.

It is clear that the future is bright beside our fellow comrades in the West, we will never back down and will standby Qianrong as we have these past few months. They are hurt by an enemy of mankind, a terrorist organization, as the Luziycans sat inactive New Zepuhan troops were out in the jungle dying to curb the terrorist threat. It has become ever clearer that we must take full strides in striking down the ASQ!

Free Media for an Unfree Nation

WE ARE STRUGGLING TOGETHER
The FDRQ has received offers of support from New Zepuha, Namor, and Luziyca in its ongoing fight against ASQ terrorists-
Unfortunately, these nations seem on the brink of war themselves as they jockey for the allegiance of the Yucheng regime

YUCHENG, QIANRONG- OCTOBER 21st, 2014 - As the Michillians and Catalarguenese fear what might happen if they become "insignificants" in the eyes of the Western Esquarian powers, Qianrong can serve as an example of what happens when a nation becomes the toy of larger neighbors. Unfortunate enough to be a small archipelago near several more powerful nations, most of Qianrong's history has been spent as a vassal or tributary of its more powerful neighbors and "allies". And it isn't just Qianrong's history: it's current events, as Luziyca teams up with Namor to try and fight a growing New Zepuhan presence in Qianrong. It's the classic "world power defaults on its obligations towards its puppets, puppet goes to someone else for help and gets it, world power freaks out when it realizes that the puppet is no longer its puppet" story, and while these stories generally end tolerably for the world powers, they almost always go very very very poorly for the puppet nation.

But for now, Namo, Sinro, and Bethlehem are all on the charm offensive, trying to guarantee that, when Yucheng picks an overlord, it'll be them. They've offered everything they can to help in the fight against the ASQ- boots on the ground, surveillance programs, aerial bombardment, you name it. Namor hopes to impress Qianrong with all of WETO's military might; Luziyca hopes to resuscitate fond memories of the days of Zheng Hye-Jeou; and New Zepuha loves to mention that, of the three, only it has presently provided any aid to Qianrong against the ASQ. Never mind that, once the ASQ is gone, they'll stick around just long enough to fuck us over before turning their attention somewhere else, and Qianrong will continue to be yet another miscellaneous pawn in a geopolitical power game.

In fact, this vassal-overlord relationship that Qianrong has engaged in for centuries might actually be a promoter of instability. I mean, yes, Operation All In is bullshit- but what if some foreign power decides to turn it into reality? As global powers fight for control of Qianrong, it becomes rather reasonable to conceive that some sort of false-flag operation might be conducted, so that Namor/Luziyca/Zepuha/etc. can come rushing in to save the day, with just the right tools to defeat the enemy.

In addition, consider that the FDRQ chooses the "wrong option" out of the three it had right now. Luziyca's CIA and Namor's KGB are both infamous for their ability at provoking a coup d'état. If Hsieh goes for New Zepuha, Breuvi and Wen might find it easier to get rid of Hsieh and replace him with someone more in line with their opinions. Not to mention that both Luziyca and New Zepuha presently have troops in Qianrong- in Yucheng LAFB, and preparing to leave Tuhao, respectively- which would also be useful in such a situation. This great game between Namo, Sinro, and Bethlehem might cause a full-on civil war for control of Yucheng- and that would be a golden opportunity for the ASQ to seize large sections of the country.

And, of course, all the media campaigns are filled with empty pledges and belligerent rhetoric. New Zepuha must "strike" in response to "paranoia" and "[a] last-ditch effort", and thus support "the future". Namor must "preserve order", because of its own "worries" about instability, and "will stand firm." And Luziyca has "a new policy", will "apologize", and let Qianrong "make a choice" over who it sides with.

Can Qianrong trust any of these people, though? It seems safe to say no. The FDRQ only concerns these people because of its strategic position in the East Namor Sea. Once Qianrong is no longer seen as important or strategic, we'll be stuck in the same situation that we've been stuck in since June: the world power that the FDRQ pledges allegiance to will simply stop caring. These nations will do just enough to make sure that they have Qianrong, and until we become strategic again, we're on our own. And the things they do to Qianrong, to get and keep its support, will not be positive things for the Qianrongese people.

From that perspective, though, does it really matter who wins this struggle? If we're doomed to be a puppet of larger nations, why should we care who we swear fealty to? After all, one thing will stay the same, regardless of whether or not Bethlehem, Sinro, or Namo gains Yucheng's fealty: the Qianrongese people will lose.

Directorate announces "Power in the South" plan

Sant-Emile, daia Merei champion proposed measures to boost Cata Larga's regional clout in response to northern Esquarian "indifference", economic troubles

-------------------------
PUERTE-DE-LIBERETE - The Confederal Directorate officially proposed what has been christened its "Power in the South" plan on Monday, which aims to make Cata Larga a major power in the Esquarian region. The Directorate cited what Director-General Pietre Sant-Emile called "indifference" on the part of northern Esquarian powers towards the recent tensions on Cata Larga's borders and the recent economic troubles plaguing the country as providing the final impetus for putting the first steps of the plan in motion, though the currently-governing National Democratic Party had already campaigned on the basis of such a plan. The first measures of the plan, as they have already been submitted for the consideration of the Confederal Councils by the Directorate itself, are expected to bypass committee and be put to vote within the next few days.

The plan, championed by Director-General Sant-Emile as well as Director of the Confederal Bureau of National Defense Hadrie daia Merei, proposed increased spending on defense and commerce while slashing budgets for welfare and administration. More moderate members of the Directorate, while initially opposed to the plan, were persuaded by revisions to the plan that lessened initially proposed spending on the military in favor of commercial matters, most particularly Director of the Confederal Bureau of Commerce Andrie Rensaude and Director of the Confederal Bureau of Agriculture and Natural Resources Francice Sant-Robie. Director of the Confederal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, and Sport Mariena Ciasieta remained in dissent, along with Director of the Confederal Bureau of National Welfare Salvetiere Vacalenta.

"[T]he three pillars"

Director-General Sant-Emile laid out the Directorate's plan in a press conference after the meeting, explaining that it would lower corporate and capital gains taxes, raise sales and income taxes, and increase spending on
"There are three pillars that
have elevated every nation
which became a power to that
position. Those three pillars
are the economy, the army,
and the navy... Cata Larga...
is no different."

-Director-General Pietre Sant-Emile
government subsidies for small businesses and corporations and the military. Military spending would be split evenly between the army and the Armada. These three concerns: Commerce, the army, and the naval forces, formed the "core" of the Power in the South plan, Sant-Emile explained. "There are three pillars that have elevated every nation which became a power to that position," Sant-Emile said. "Those three pillars are the economy, the army, and the navy. This plan to make Cata Larga a power in the south of Esquarium is no different."

Particular attention has been paid to the economic provisions of the plan, which are aimed at both enticing foreign companies to outsource to Cata Larga as well as encourage small business establishment and growth from within. Provisions included in one planned measure include government subsidization of pension benefits and workman's compensation. These measures, if passed, are expected to be the most influential portions of the plan, due to the recent economic slump which has struck Cata Larga and only been worsened by the recent eastern Esquarian tensions. Spending increases with regards to the military are expected to go towards modernization projects and recruitment drives for both the army and the Confederal Armada. The Aviation Corps is also expected to benefit slightly, though significantly less than the larger two branches. Director-General Sant-Emile assured the international community and the Catalarguense public that "we will not be warlike; we do not want to be warlike. We simply want to ensure that this country, Cata Larga, is secure both economically and militarily".

The impetus - Economic recession and diplomatic non-aggression

Recent Catalarguense frustrations about the lack of response to the instability on its borders is believed to have been the final push for the plan. Some final drafting of the provisions of the plan is expected to have taken place during the Directorate's meeting on Sunday, where Director-General Sant-Emile expressed his discontent with the government in Namo. However, those so-called "church meetings" are short and only held as a preview of the week ahead. The plan comes as frustration over the failure to negotiate a conclusive end to the tensions in eastern Esquarium mounts, particularly in Cata Larga, where anti-Namorese and especially anti-Luziycan protests have been held in the wake of their detente conference in Namo. Cata Larga remains in an official state of war with Ocidenia, one nation toppled by the Luziycan-backed coups which rattled eastern Esquarium earlier this year, though there have been no hostilities since June.

Another major force behind the plan was the economic slump which had been affecting Cata Larga since the bursting of the mid-2000s housing bubble in 2007. Cata Larga retained a sluggish, near-backwater state of economic progress even beforehand, after the boom of the early 1970s had slowed down. The economic woes that continue to affect the country were only worsened by the recent tensions in eastern Esquarium and war with Ocidenia, during which the ANBC Century Composite index dived nearly 2000 points over a span of 4 months in a near-crash. Unemployment rates in Cata Larga remain stable at 7.8%. Director-General Sant-Emile had called the plan "a cure for Cata Larga's long-time economic misery". "It may not be an easy cure, or a quick cure, but it is one, and we will see the returns paying off within a few years as more and more people not only go to work, but gain higher salaries," Sant-Emile continued. The National Democratic Party had already campaigned for the plan in the 2013 elections as a way to solve the economic slump.

The cost of the plan

In exchange for commercial subsidies and military spending, social welfare is estimated to have nearly a quarter of funding slashed, with a similar proportion being cut from administration. Lesser cuts are expected for the National Prefecture and Departmental Militias. Cuts are especially expected to be felt hard in the Free Commonwealth Regions of New Litorea, Miavaland, Sant-Janne, and Cassarinia. In addition, taxes on sales and income are expected to be raised in order to compensate for cuts on capital gains and corporate taxation, especially affecting the middle classes of the Catalarguense coastlines. Education, however, is expected to be largely unaffected, with Director-General Sant-Emile citing "the importance of high educational standards to a modern, thriving economy" for the lack of cuts to educational programs.

When asked about these expensed by a reporter from Ǐs Mereǐs, Director-General Sant-Emile replied that "no plan, or framework of a plan, as substantial as this one would be painless". However, he assured the Catalarguense public that the expenses would "not be for naught" and pleaded for "patience on the part of the people of Cata Larga to see the fruits of this labor".

But can the plan be passed?

These expenses are a major reason why many council members from the Confederal Bloc and Libertarian Party have pledged to vote against the offending measures of the plan. However, the Directorate's decision to divide the plan's provisions into several acts to be considered by the Confederal Councils almost guarantees that some portion of the plan will be passed, as every party is in support of at least some parts of it. The Confederal Bloc supports army expansion, both the Confederal Bloc and Libertarian Party support slashing welfare and cutting capital gains and corporate tax, and the United Centrists support business subsidies. The Greens and Unionists, however, have vowed to vote against every portion of the plan that comes to the floor, with party chairwoman Gloria da Fasiera stating that "the Power in the South plan goes against everything the Greens stand for".

However, the Greens and independents in association with the major parties willing to universally reject the plan are a very small portion of the Confederal Councils, and almost every council member is expected to vote for one portion of the plan or another. In addition, the coalition of the Federalist Party and the National Democratic Party hold a comfortable majority in both the Council of Confederal Domains and the Council of Confederal Citizenry. Both parties support all or most measures of the Power in the South plan, meaning that, bar possible dissenting voices within the ranks of the Federalists and PDN, the plan's provisions are likely to pass. However, these predictions are very tentative and can only be set in stone when the Confederal Councils vote on the plan's provisions during the next few weeks.

Director-General Sant-Emile, nevertheless, was confident that the plan would pass through the Confederal Councils without much hassle. "The members of the Confederal Councils are reasonable people," Sant-Emile said. "I am sure that, in the end, no matter which way the deliberations go, they will choose the path that will be best for Cata Larga and all who call Cata Larga home."

Chiang Vei to stand trial
Officer who shot, killed Feliks Oleg charged with second-degree murder, excessive use of force
October 22, NMR 2371

KUSEF, TXOTAI - Chiang Vei, the Kovdor, Txotai police officer who shot and killed Feliks Oleg in an incident which sparked over a week of protests and unrest, is now standing trial after Kovdor Prefecture charged him with second-degree murder and excessive use of force.
Image
The Court of Kovdor Prefecture in Kovdor, Autonomous Republic of
Txotai

Fearing that full publicity will undermine the defendant Chiang Vei's right of due process, the court said that limitations have been placed on public access to the trial.

Gathering outside the Kovdor Prefecture Court, protesters who have been demanding that Chiang be punished for his shooting of Olegs are hollering louder the slogan "Justicia Nu," popularized during the protests which abruptly followed Oleg's death. Some of them say they are optimistic about the results of the trial.

"They are going to punish him, I'm sure of that," said one ethnic Otekian descent. "If they don't, then for God's sake there's something really wrong with this justice system."

"All I ask is that the judge, the court, that they deal with this in the most responsible and considerable way," another Otekian who took part in a pro-Oleg protest. "We have full confidence that the perpetrator will be brought to justice. Should they not, then the law to me is just a piece of paper anyone can scribble on and mess with. We want justice now or never."

Few clashes took place between police guarding the courthouse and protesters, although Kovdor police say arrests were made after three protesters attacked a police officer mistaken to be Chiang Vei. Otherwise, the protest was peaceful and almost no cases of intrusion past barriers set by the police.

But counter-protests were also present. Hundreds of counter-protesters also convened a few meters away from the protesters and voiced support for Chiang and the Kovdor police. Activists belonging to the "Anti-CIA" group shouted "Support the Police," "We are Officer Chiang" and "Stand Strong, Officer, Keep up the good work!" and accused supporters of Oleg for trying to interfere in the investigation process, which they say is not complete.

"We haven't got all the details yet," Ming Hanwong, 66, told Txotai television. "All that's been publicized is the fact that Officer Chiang Vei shot Feliks Oleg. Sure. But why? There has to be a reason. The police is here to protect us from criminals and other threats to society. I know many officers in the police and they are responsible, caring men. If they shoot somebody then there must've been something that really provoked them into doing so."

No physical scuffling occurred between protesters and counter-protesters outside the Kovdor courthouse, since they were separated by officers on duty.

Elsewhere in Txotai, the AR court had recently sentenced singer Manya Valerija to 10 years' imprisonment for inciting separatism and violating national security laws.

Agreed. Otekians always whine and cry about their kind getting killed although they don't give shit when they kill tons more people. And even when that happens it is us who give them welfare, give them money, build them hospitals, schools and all that fancy stuff all people deserve. Namor practically raised the Otekians so they can be like the rest of the world and this is how they repay us with these annoying "justice nu" slogans. What a babyish ethnicity, they should go back to Luzzyland. 88 90

Legit tho, and speaking from a non-trolling point of view, if Chiang Vei is put on trial for this crime, then all the Otekians should be put on trial for the same charge, that is murder. It's disappointing to see the court and the government leaning against the silent majority like that. 46 27

I live in Txotai and I can tell you that these "Justicia nu" ppl are fucking ANNOYING. They don't care about what's going on, they just want to sit around and socialize. They're not real protesters, they're CIA agents and lazy savages. Once I met a bunch of them and when I asked them what they're on the streets to protest about, they said they didn't know and that all they're doing is cutting work and getting paid by the Luzzies. Elite Unit of the Simnanese Police goes AWOL

The unit is suspected of deserting to join the Simnanese Liberation Front

Simna City, Simna - The Sakatian Federal Police confirmed that a unit of the Simnanese Police Service had deserted and taken a large quantity of weapons and ammunition with them. Their current location is currently unknown and they have been suspected of joining the Simnanese Liberation Front. The unit was confirmed as AOU-2, the elite unit which specialized in counter-terror operations and urban warfare. The unit received training from the State Security Service's (SGB) TOG-1 and Sakatian Federal Police SO-9, two elite counter-terror units in Sakatia.
Image

The unit apparently made away with two armored vehicles and a few thousand rounds of ammunition. The Advanced Operations Units are the few officers of the Simnanese Police Service allowed keys and access to ammunition and vehicle storage 24/7. For the rest of the Simna Police, they need permission from the Sakatian Federal Police to gain access to higher-grade weaponry and equipment. Most Simna Police officers are given a handgun, which have tracking beacons on them to prevent theft. Despite the security around ammo within the Simna Police, weapons and equipment still tend to vanish. In 2013, a armored vehicle was stolen from a police station in Tolmachik, taken by a disgruntled police officer who had been told he was being suspended from corruption.

Low morale and low pay are some of the reasons behind the crippling corruption within the Simna Police, with a Predstavnik oversight panel, revealing that 88% of Simnanese police officers have engaged in corruption or illegal activities in the course of their duties. This does not please the Federal Government in Plavagrad, which is worried about the rising crime rates in Simna, with 92 violent crimes per every 100 people, according to a 2012 review. A availability of firearms is the #1 reason behind this, according to the Save Simna Foundation. According to them, following the ceasefire agreement between the Simna Liberation Front and the Sakatian government, the illegal sales of firearms skyrocketed as SLF fighters and pro-government militias disarmed through various methods.

War in Planinkhora to scale up; "We are confident that order will be restored" claims Supreme Comrade

TESLAGRAD, NIDZESLAVIA | Our glorious and beloved leader the Supreme Comrade concluded his today's speech by those wise words that will surely allow some relief to both the families of soldiers deployed in Planinkhora, the Nidzeslav community of the province and the Planinkhorans commoners, all of them having to suffer of the bad decisions made by some unwise and malevolent men that calls themselves the Government of Republic of Planinkhora. This speech also marks the return of the Supreme Comrade Alexei Svarovski into politics. He was hospitalised 29 days ago, for health reason caused by the stress of "doing the best for Nidzeslavia". Svarovski is now back on his feet, healed and well-rested, and is ready to lead us towards greatness once again.

Among the issues addressed in his speech was the Namor-Luziyca summit. "We are happy to see that the Namo-Bethlehem relations are getting warmer, as this is moving one step towards peace in this world. However, we do rightfully fear that this détente is a threat to our glorious nation." The two nations, even according on tricky issues such as Qianrong, now more than ever represent a threat to our glorious nation, as both nations wrongly see us as a threat to the world. The Supreme Comrade hope the possibility of meeting both head of states soon, in order to put the records straight and work together on the most important issues that Nidzeslavia is facing with its neighbours.

The situation in our Eastern neighbour the Free Democratic Republic of Qianrong was also mentioned, with the Supreme Comrade strongly condemning the ASQ and openly calling their leaders "terrorists cowards" and "genocidal maniacs". Concerned the possible spillover of the conflict on the ethnicities of the Eastern Shore, Svarovski claimed that "Terrorists will not find any support in Nidzeslavia", and said that would our strong armed forces weren't actually busy securing the Revolution, maintaining order and providing support in former war-torn zones, Nidzeslavia would have gladly provided support to the rightful Qianrongese government.

However, the main issue addressed in the return speech was the War in Planinkhora. The conflict, lasting since the Glorious Revolution of 2005, recently started to scale up, moving from a stalemate in the Bogvolža mountain range to a offensive on the coastal cities. The separatists, or as those traitors style themselves, "the Independent Republic of Planinkhora", are believed to have received a major arms shipment coming from a nation hostile to our interests, such as Katranjiev or Luziyca. The region, which kept changing of owners following wars and treaties between Katranjiev and Nidzeslavia, is home to several buildings of historical and cultural importance to both the Planinkhorans, and us others Nidzeslavians, are endangered because of the actions of a few madmen.

Over last week, the separatists took over several coastal settlements previously held by our Army. However, they never withdrew without a fight and our men are taking actions to prevent the rebels from seizing food, weapons and equipments. More troops have been deployed on the coast-side border with Katranjiev in order to prevent arms delivery from entering the country and helping the traitors. Talk of evacuating weapons from the Nomirisk Nuclear Facility have started, considering that the rebel progress may allow them to attack the facility before reinforcements come. As more and more troops are deployed to the region and the rest of the state is pacified, Planinkhora now seems to be the only remaining major stronghold of the opposition.

-DEVELOPING- PAVONISTADIAN SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS CURRENT CITIZENSHIP ACT AMENDMENTS
Garvidier v. Pavonistade ruling couples with media blackout and raging nationwide protests

Date: October 23, 2014

Writer: Donald Walensen

Supreme Court at evening. The Supreme and Subsidiary
Judges declared they will support status quo.

The Supreme Court of Pavonistade has made a ruling on the controversial Garvidier v. Pavonistade case, and details of it seems to be instantaneously sparking anger in the Garvidier side.

Supreme Judge Patricia Avoleson and Subsidiary Judges Lyonna von Belmont, Marc Frederick, Cassandra Maies, and Valerie Skalyena presided over the case, which was under a media blackout imposed by the federal government. Forbidding journalists and reporters reporting from inside the Supreme Court is very rare, with the imposing of the last such blackout (in Von Osestadtie v. Pavonistade) dating back to 1983, regarding the sovereignty of the Ocelot Isles.

The court started its business in the dark morning of October 24, and it took several hours before a vote of 4-2 was made to continue recognizing allied origins as a legitimate method of citizenship obtainment. Among those four voting to keep the 2012 amendments was the Supreme Judge. Soon after the holding was revealed, the Executive and Judicial Branch declared the results to the public. A press conference attended by President Azurite, Parliamental Speaker Vanessa Adeodatus, and the Supreme Judge was clearly not under a blackout, lifted following the case.

"It has been determined that the two amendments of 2012 to the Citizenship Act [...] will not be nulled out," President Azurite reported.

Protests had appeared outside the Parliament and Ministry of Domestic Affairs offices with larger magnitudes. First, there was the Garvidier side, which was undeniably "unpleased" with the Supreme Court's ruling. In another press conference, Johan Garvidier---the woman behind the citizenship discrepancy---boldly spoke, "Is it clear, to the public's eyes, that the Supreme Court is going so far as to committing these biased, unfair processes? Is it lacking the eyes to see that allied origins is only an illegitimate obtainment process?"

Joining Garvidier and her many supporters were angered activists who were targeting another aspect of the case. They had loathed the media blackout hovering on the case, claiming that it was a "violation" of freedom of the press. One of the well-known protesters was Larkhdes Sardia, the leader of the Toloupumian association Press not the Press, was interviewed and answered, "The government can stamp its blackouts all over, but it will eventually know that it defies the constitution and freedom of press. The people will know for an indefinite period that the government [...] is censoring even when it says it's not [...]"

What counters either or both sides is those in favor of the holding and the status quo. Many of the Will of Pavonistadians community, such as conservative-liberal blogger Paladia Lafares, were their avid opponents. The federal government, as hinted earlier, prefers maintaining the amendments.

The international community is doing at least some looking into the nationwide issue. Ocelotian Governor-President Julien von Osestadtie purported that the Pavonistadian Government "is trying to suppress its people just as similarly as it has done to the Ocelotians before 2014." Beyond the Pavonosphere, Radio Free Qianrong appeared to shed a negative light on the federal government, criticizing the "immigration" system as "byzantine" and "unfair".

It can be said the near future is quite unclear to numerous Pavonistadians, but as protests continue across the country, they also hope that peace will dominate over any potential violence.

Dang, your gramspelling is an eyesore. So is your truly dim-witted opinion on the case. Allied origins IS a truthful method for our friends outside of Pavonistade to get citizenship, and it is also a nice gift to them for having a good alliance with us. And the blackout isn't spammed all over; the government don't have the guts to do just that, so chill your peanut-sized brain out.

And you got a problem with us, you can get your oh-so-sad butt elsewhere. Well, where? OUT OF PAVONISTADE.

Hey buddy!
First, you should think about what you are going to type before posting potentially rule-violating comments like that. Second, The Man 101 has a point: the Supreme Court made a rather bad ruling and should have sought to replace the allied origins method or abolish it (it's reverse discrimination at the very least). The blackout, too, was really uncalled for, and it is unjust since it barred the press from freely reporting the really-unknown case.
Overall, I really expected something better out of this case, but instead we got worse results. Oh well, the judiciary is not really independent from the government.

Speaking of the not-very-independent Judicial Branch... I think the feds are corrupt. They appoint judges that will obey their fat-cat orders, they keep the federal judiciary under their power, and they use the judges to rule out anything they don't like. They already did that to rule out repealing allied origins, they'll do the same to rule out Ocelotian recognition.

How about you calm your conspiracy theorist butt down? Even though the President appoints all the judges, there are plenty of laws in place to make this as fair as possible. As far as you and I know, Pavonistade isn't a power-hungry tyrannical wasteland.

Government in turmoil as PM Rantala promises to solve negro problem by 2025

Image
Prime Minister's controversial comments
caused outrage within his cabinet

NEVANLINNA - Prime Minister Rantala has caused unrest within his fragile grand coalition after a questionable statement regarding the current status of northern negroes. Rantala stated that "the government is poised to create a roadmap to solving the northern negro problem by 2025, which will finally allow us to put an end to this issue that has plagued Nevan politics for over a century. We should seek to pay attention to more important matters such as improving the economic situation and forging closer ties with various Esquarian nations".

When asked how he was going to solve the negro problem, Rantala stated that "a combination of various solutions ranging from financial incentives for voluntary emigration or sterilization to diplomatic talks with other nations to encourage them to accept northern negroes as refugees".

The comment sparked critical comments from within Rantala's fragile government. Julia Kauhala, a well-known negro right activist and minister of interior stated that Rantala's comments are "in clear violation of the government's programme signed by all government parties, including the Liberals. The programme very clearly stated that our cabinet will 'promote the expansion political and social rights to all members of the Nevan nation'".

Political commentators see Rantala's comments as an attempt to attract more right-wing support for his government. MP's from the Constitutional Progressive Party and the right wing of Rantala's own Liberal Party have already voiced their opposition to the current center-left government. Rantala's minority government has had to rely on support from the Christian Democrats, Democratic Workers' Party and a dozen different minority parties, making legislation extremely difficult. While the creation of the Nevan Commonwealth briefly increased public support for Rantala's government, the current approval rating for the government has now plunged to around 19%.

URGENT Poison gas attack in various places across Namo
Liberation Square, Mall, Central Station hit, Capital District under lockdown
October 24, NMR 2371

NAMO, CAPITAL DISTRICT - Capital District is under a tight lockdown after a series of poison gas attacks swept across the city starting at noon, hitting Liberation Square, the Sha Ta Yin Mall and Namo Central Station.
Image
The attack's aftermath as it looked in Sha Ta Yin

At approximately 12:01, Liberation Square was engulfed by liquid and evaporated poison gas. Many people immediately dropped to their knees, and the police was notified. Within minutes, news of the attack reached all corners of the square, leading to it being evacuated and shut down. Government buildings, prominently the Central Council (which was in session), Supreme People's Court Hall and the People's Auditorium were notified of the attack. Occupants in these buildings were evacuated to higher ground.

Two minutes later, in 12:03, another attack broke out, this time in Sha Ta Yin Mall in Dacheng, near the district of Imin where Liberation Square is. Security cameras showed people inside the building affected by the attack, followed by some people attempting to rush out of the mall. One witness who was outside the mall told police that everything looked "normal" before the attack, until "everything descended into chaos. Nobody knew where to go."

In 12:05, the third and final attack occurred southward, in Namo's busy Central Station, the epicenter of the Namo Metro where all lines converged. The effect was similar to that of the one in Sha Ta Yin, with many bewildered by what's happening in their surroundings and some trying to escape contaminated areas. Authorities were notified and the place was evacuated.

Namo put under lockdown, Dương calls attack act of terror

So far, the perpetrators of these deadly attacks are unknown.
Image
Three attacks in one day

"Over 8,000 people are being hospitalized, 924 people were transported by authorities," Dương said. "Collectively, over 16 people are confirmed dead, but unfortunately these numbers may change for the worse.

"Police are telling us that it might have been sarin that was spilled all across the city," he added.

Capital District has been already placed under lockdown; mayor Dương Kouta said that this lockdown will last for an "indefinite" amount of time until "things are settled." Ten minutes after the third attack in Central Station happened, Capital District's Airport Authority issued an emergency notice cancelling all flights to and from Namo, forcing hundreds of flights coming towards the city to be redirected elsewhere. The airport too is being shut down, and will not open until the lockdown over all of Namo is lifted.

Units of the district Armed Police and the Namorese Liberation Army have been put on high alert, and are now mobilized to enforce the lockdown and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in tracking down the suspects.

In a matter of stricter importance, Dương said that the foreign embassy row has been notified of the attacks and the subsequent lockdown. The Namo embassy row is now under protection from possible disturbances. "No diplomats or ambassadors have been harmed," said Dương.

"This is the most serious act of terror committed in the capital since the 6-28 terror attacks," said the mayor. "These attacks and their perpetrators pose a severe threat to the security of our city and our country, and we take this threat very seriously. I assure the people of Namo that everything we wanted to know will be known soon. Until then, Capital District is under an indefinite lockdown. This is a move supported by our law enforcement agencies and the people."

Residents of Namo were shocked by the gas attacks. Although some bear memories of the 6-28 attacks back in NMR 2355, they still thought---and think---their city is safe.

"I don't know what to say," one resident from the suburban district of Mowei, unaffected by the attacks but personally knows someone hospitalized as a result of the releasing of poison gas, "When I first heard about this, I thought it was a joke. A stabbing once every two decades is something any city experiences. But I never thought a gas attack would rock Namo, much less anywhere else in the country. This probably won't happen again, and I'm very confident it won't happen again."

Planinkhoran separatists fight to take Glodzhevo

Image
City hall of Glodzhevo from 1924 to 1952 under Katranjian rule, photo taken in 2002

YABLANITSA, PLANINKHORA - In recent weeks, in the state of Planinkhora, the Planinkhoran Armed Forces have been fighting against the government to take control of what the separatists consider to be their official capital, Glodzhevo, from the National Bolshevist authorities in Nidzeslavia.

Due to the complicated nature of the Planinkhoran War for Independence, no reliable stats have been given, but around a few thousand civilians in the city of Glodzhevo have died, as well as a few hundred soldiers on either side of the war, according to anonymous sources from within the city of Glodzhevo, and with damage to countless buildings, some of them centuries old, and others, like the city hall, more recent.

Representative Petar Vidinov, representative of the Katranjian government to Planinkhora, as de-facto ambassador to the Planinkhoran state in Yablanitsa said that "For a long time, there has been a stalemate in the Planinkhoran War, with government forces controlling the coast and the border with Katranjiev, and the Planinkhorans controlling the inland areas. However, in recent months, the forces of Planinkhora have gained the advantage, due to an increase of aid, mostly by Katranjiev, but a bit with Luziyca as well, mostly monetary, but some arms have came in as well."

In Desislav, a protest march has occurred, supporting the right to self-determination of the Planinkhorans and the right to secede from Nidzeslavia. Flags of Planinkhora and Katranjiev were carried, as well as banners criticizing the repression of ethnic minorities during the rule of the "Supreme Comrade," and supporting the independence of the region. 85,000 people took part in the protests in Desislav, while smaller protests occurred in Sudak, Baicheng, Albena, and Krasimir, as well as Sirmnov and Rekagrad.

His remarks came in an interview on the day after the Nevan Prime Minister, Valtteri Rantala, called for Nevnmaaa to finish deporting its Black population by 2025.

Rantala was not clear how he would accomplish this, prompting Matjassen to mockingly describe him as a "Nazi Andras Verbåten" (the former Geadish Prime Minister had a reputation for indecisiveness). Rantala suggested that Nevanmaa should arrange to deport its remaining Black population (estimated at 600,000, less than 1% of its total population) to other countries in the region or consider reintroducing forced sterilisation.

Matjassen appeared on This Week with Alek Bloom for an interview and was asked if Geadland should agree with Nevanmaa to accept a large number of Black Nevans as refugees. "On the face of it, it's a win-win. Nevanmaa would get rid of the people they consider undesirable, the Black Nevans would get a better life and we the Geads would happily welcome them into our society. Now let me tell you why we shouldn't do this."

He went on to say that "It would set an absolutely dreadful precedent. Other illiberal nations would get the message that if you want to get rid of a certain group of people - like Swedes, Otekians, Jews, et cetera - you could just dump them in the nearest liberal democracy. Now do you see the problem?"

He also said that "If you take in a load of refugees and they don't return back, it can throw up social problems like those we had in Arje. You'd be left with a lot of disorientated people who don't truly belong here or back home. Geadland does accept some Black Nevans as refugees - hundreds a year - but there is a limit."

His comments come hours after Julius Albrechtsen also condemned Rantala's remarks as being "chillingly racist". Rantala is considered a political moderate in Nevanmaa, a country whose political system is neither a fully authoritarian regime nor a fully functioning democracy, and where non-white citizens are heavily discriminated against. Matjassen said that "I'm amazed the Nevans think he's a liberal. Perhaps it's because he's so indecisive. 'Oh, Nevanmaa's faced with big challenges. We'll solve oour Negro problem with oh, er, diplomatic solutions or something else.' Do you know what he sounds like? He sounds like a f***ing Nazi Andras Verbåten."

The Progressive Party is known for its populist opposition to immigration and has occasionally faced controversies over statements made by its politicians on the subject. Whereas Jüte Rosengard once said that a news report about a refugee boat capsising was "good news", Matjassen told Bloom that "I don't get fussed too much about asylum seekers. They represent only a small percentage of all migrants and many ultimately go back."

OPINION: It's time to stop flip-flopping, Valtteri

Image
"I'm a moderate leftist rightist"

NEVANLINNA - I am kind of ashamed that I actually voted the walking embarrasment that is Valtteri Rantala this spring. I actually believed that Rantala could establish a stable, liberal government that would address some of the concerns that our neighbouring countries addressed decades, if not centuries ago. Silly me.

I do acknowledge that trying to maintain a balance in a cabinet as broad as Rantala's is not the easiest of tasks. What in common do randist constitutionalists, trade unionist social democrats, radical moderates and God knows how many ethnic parties have except their general opposition to National Coalition's destructive policies that have plagued this realm for decades now? Not too many.

Maybe this task was impossible right from the start, but Rantala is nevertheless stubbornly marching on. I think I speak for most Nevans who voted for change this spring, when I say that it's not the indecisiveness that we're angry at. We knew that was going to happen when we have a coalition this broad. The problem is that Rantala continues to pander to every single demographic with promises that he cannot keep instead of trying to come up with real plans for change that all government parties can agree on.

Let us take the "pride" of our nation, our wonderfully medieval racial laws. During his election campaign, Rantala promised to abolish them if the Liberals won the election. After his electoral victory, he started supporting them again to attract Christian Democrats to his coalition. When that failed, he started pushing for their abolishment to pander to the left-wingers, and now he's gone back to giving statements about the "northern negro problem" to the international press, and actually stating that he wants to develop relations with other Esquarian nations in the same sentence. Can you believe that?

As a party, the Liberals are not that bad. But Rantala? He's giving the entire party a bad name. I've talked to several Liberal friends who all agree that the problem is with Rantala, not with the party itself. With some luck, Rantala will step down and let someone slightly more competent to prevent his party from being totally annihilated in the next election.

I do not think that Rantala's government will last much longer; It's probably going to fail the same way Jukka-Pekka Ristiö's government failed in the 90's. It's rather ironic that Rantala did not learn anything from Ristiö's mistakes, but is doing the exact same things that collapsed the first Liberal-led government in decades.

When the early elections are going to take place, and believe me when I say that they will, I urge everyone to think twice about who they are voting for. If you support the status quo, then go ahead and give your vote to the National Coalition. But if you want true change, if you want to restructure and rebuild our nation then consider giving your vote to minor third parties. It's clear that the political establishment cannot give us the change that the people truly want.

Prime Minister gives a calming tone to Nevanmaa's PM racial remarks

Esquarium's northwestern countries have been politically shaken today as Nevanmaa's Prime Minister Valtteri Rantala, Nevanmaa's first Liberal PM in years made remarks on the country's ''northern negro'' problem. His fragile coalition is on its' knees as Rantala said that the solution to the problem would be "a combination of various solutions ranging from financial incentives for voluntary emigration or sterilization to diplomatic talks with other nations to encourage them to accept northern negroes as refugees". Many northwestern countries have since then expressed their condemnation to Rantala's statement because his government is supposedly centre-left and one of its' election promises was to end the country's racial laws. Nevanmaa's Liberal Party has, however, been forced to enter into a broad coalition after the last elections because it couldn't get a majority in their parliament. ''The coalition is big, so Rantala needs to appeal to lots of different parties,if he wants to maintain a majority. This means going from left to right, but it is, from perspective of Crolacian politics, all centre-right to far-right'', comments political analyst Bernard Kahle.

Prime Minister Larisa Reutt commented remarks Rantala made regarding the ''negro'' problem. ''This is obivously a serious issue in Nevanmaa, but it is also important for all of the northwestern countries. Crolacia currently has an asylum programme for members of black community, but we are planning to cap it and gradually decommission it as Nevan racial laws get repealed. I know PM Rantala has a difficult situation in his government, but I am sure that he will stick to his election promises and repeal the laws that are keeping Nevanmaa back. I will be happy to meet with him and discuss mutual cooperation, trade and Esquarian integrations. ''

Reutt's comment is seen by analysts as trying to act like a bridge between Nevanmaa and other NW countries. PM Rantala is said to be pressured even from his own Liberal Party's right wing, to toughen his stance on racial laws. Rantala leads a minority government in Nevanmaa's parliament which was mostly ruled by the National Coalition. Crolacian opposition, meanwhile, condemns both Rantala's and Reutt's comments. Leader of the Opposition Pall Hidsen said that ''Reutt shows her incompetence and mildness. She cannot see that the Nevan government wants to sterilize its' black citizens. That is unacceptable and violates basic human rights. Nevanmaa will never get into the EC.'' Opinion of Crolacians on Nevanmaa has plunged; only 29% think positive of Nevanmaa, compared to the former figure of 34%.

Namo still under lockdown as authorities continue search for sarin attack suspects
Police say Maitreyan sect might have been behind 10-24 tragedy
October 26, NMR 2371

NAMO, CAPITAL DISTRICT - The Capital District government is summoning help from the public to track down a group of people suspected to have set off the deadly sarin gas attack in parts of Namo on Friday.

is still under lockdown from the sarin attack

20 people have so far been confirmed dead, according to the latest update provided by Namo's govt. Thousands remain hospitalized, some in serious condition as they were crippled by the terror attack.

Police say many people were involved in the attack, ranging from "people who set the gas off" to "providers of the agents."

"This is certainly an organized act of terror," Namo police superintendent Chin Weibu said. "It was carefully coordinated. Whoever organized the attacks must have had access to things most people don't have."

Chin remarked that the fact a proscribed chemical agent like sarin was used in the attack is "unbelievable."

"Here in Namor, like anywhere else, we stopped using chemical agents for decades. Dangerous poison gases are kept out of reach of citizens," he said. "I think so much sarin could only have come to Namo from overseas, but if that's the case we're still stunned."

Chin said that he found the possibility of the poison gas being domestically manufactured "very unlikely."

Police identify three suspects, both followers of Maitreyan "Temple of Heavenly Revival" sect

In the meantime, police are continuing their hunt for the suspects. Police say two people perpetrated the Liberation Square attack, two people attacked Sha Ta Yin and one person set the gas in Central Station.

With the help of security cameras situated across the city, police were able to identify the two suspects who were at Liberation Square, but are still trying to do the same for the other suspects. The names of the two suspects were released by police last evening.

  • Xuân Đức, ethnic Antelopian, age 39, from Dai Vuong, Antelopia AR
  • Hang Kuo, ethnic Kannei, age 42, from Yintosan, Southern Namor

Investigators say Xuân and Hang are both followers of She Jiao, founder and head of the "Temple of Heavenly Revival," a self-proclaimed Txoist-Buddhist religious sect. She (pronounced shuh) claims to be the future Buddha, Maitreya, an important character in Buddhist eschatology. This claim is rejected by mainstream adherents of Namorese folk religion (Txoism), a combination of Mahayana Buddhist and indigenous beliefs.

Xuân's Facebook page was full of content portraying She as the "King (Vang)," and the reincarnation of the future Buddha. "King Master She Jiao is the Great Buddha Maitreya," one post from Xuân's wall read. "He will deliver the world from injustice, overthrow all governments and establish a new order based on the rules of Heaven." Xuân and Hang are friends on social media.

The "Temple"'s record of religious violence isn't unknown. Si Nao was given life imprisonment in NMR 2367 for stabbing a woman to death in a Mojing convenience store. In another incident in NMR 2369, two people were forced to jump off a cliff in Kamuden, East Namor, at the pressure of "Temple" followers. The two survived, but suffered injuries. The sect followers who committed this crime were sentenced to two years in prison.

But investigators are still wondering how the sect, long considered a "benign but annoying" cult, can be able to perpetrate an attack of such great magnitude to the point that poison gas is used.

"We haven't got all the answers," police superintendent Chin said. "Our job now is to identify the other suspects so we get a clearer image of who, how, and why this happened."
