2% die from unicorn attacks, apparently.

IC for roleplay purposes that chart would look a lot different, though... it says that 82% die from old age, but in a country where Elves are allowed to donate blood there are a LOT of people who don't age running around.

Those damn unicorns are out of control!

When I first created this nation I turned it into a complete dictatorship, which is why my 'disappearences' is 82%- but to be fair, it used to be around 95%!

Old age mostly, 91%.. guess we're following the idea that after a length of time, you're no longer the same person you once were or everyone upgrades every so often. Not like AIs really have aging..
Though 7%, indeed any percentage, Heart Disease just makes no sense for my nation.

For most Nations though, my death causes seem to be pretty reasonable, 3% murder is a little worrying however.

...oh, just realised. No cancer! Huzzah!

Cancer. Huh, I guess our usage of radiation in pretty much everything has a downside. Who would have thought spewing radiation on our own troops to speed up cell regeneration would cause cancer.

2% of People are Lost in the Wilderness, 20% Die From Exposure, and 8% of Deaths are Attributed Murder. Makes sense actually, over half the country is mountainous wilderness (not counting the Unincorporated Territories, which are both incredibly underdeveloped, inherently dangerous to non-natives, and almost on par size wise with half the entire Confederacy).

[violet] herself has agreed that the level of deaths from Scurvy that the survey attributes to this nation is massively over-estimated.
And bears don't bungee jump, neither.

^_^

On the other paw, the survey totally ignores the deaths from individuals fighting over territory...

Leading Causes of Death in the Free Land of Wattoburger are as follows:
1. Old Age (85%)
2. Lost in Wilderness (9%)
3. Murder (3%)
4. Acts of God (3%)

These results may not be strictly true due to the fact that 9% of individuals included are considered missing as opposed to dead. Some individuals in our nation have been known to leave civilisation and live in the wild. We encourage our citizens to inform the state of their intentions to do so prior to their departure as it prevents funds being spent on deploying search parties unnecessarily however, many citizens have left the civilised world without informing the state. If we find a citizen who has left civilisation without informing the state, we simply remove them from our missing persons list. Any persons that choose to return to our nation after leaving to live in the wild are free to do so.

We intend to reduce the murder rate in our nation by at least 1% by the end of the year. Our ultimate goal is to reduce the murder rate to 0%.

Acts of God includes any unexplainable deaths. We do not acknowledge this as a literal act of a divine being. We simply use this as a term to describe the unexplained. We devote much research into solving these cases.

We consider "lost in the wilderness" an odd cause of death. We don't equate lost with dead. We're actually hoping to find a lot of those lost people alive. We suspect that a lot of them are tourists who have built a little grass shack somewhere and forgotten to go home.

(And "murder" is a typo. It should read "surfing accident".)

8% apparently have "lost in wilderness" as their cause of death.

But there are two odd ones for my alternative nation, Midlothian: 18% disappear, 10% "work" and 1% to both suicide in police custody and accident. But cancer, at 40%, is the leading CoD there.
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

21% are from Acts of God. Never knew he hated us so much.
1% by bungee jumping, 2% commit suicide in police custody, and 2% get lost in the wilderness.
The rest die of old age.

So you either live a rather boring life and grow old, or die young yet excited.

I can see "lost in the wilderness", especially taking into account the whole of the Zjelsjen archipelago, many of the islands within it being undeveloped and unpopulated.

"Kybukj Fox attack" is a bit harder to swallow, even at 3%. True, the wild variety of kybukj that reside on many of those islands are pack hunters, but like all kybukj they are only about the size of a housecat. Seems like you'd have to be injured and shouting insults at a pack of hungry ones in the middle of their den to be in much real danger.

Although, the Zjelsjen composer Etak Valays' opera Kybukj Zha Ytshjkabazhj Nova Na has them apparently threatening an entire village, so maybe they've taken a tip from historical fiction.

3% Acts of God

This is quite strange, because I thought the Serene Republic signed a treaty with Athena and her Panthoen centuries ago. There was to be no more of this nonsense. Perhaps its one of the old Olympian Gods who never joined the Promethen Pantheon...

people, generally those of an overly aggressive mentality, have been known to starve to death in the woods as a result of becoming totally and sort of simi-perminently disoriented from the illusions created in and by their own minds from the stimulus of the psionic natural defense mechanism of our shy little lion-bears. this is identified in the chart as a cameroi lion-bear attack, which is of course not entirely accurate. these are pretty much the only causes of death other then living out one's natural span, which typically is around 150 of our planet's years. natural (old age) deaths account for 99%.
