The first Polymer Notes to go into circulation by November 1st
BETHLEHEM, LUZIYCA - Today, the Central Bank of Luziyca has issued an announcement, via its Twitter Account, its official website and ads. It is to announce the first polymer notes, which will eventually replace the "Moments of History" series used within Luziyca for the past five years.
These new polymer notes are to modernize the currency. However, with counterfeiting and money laundering a serious issue, it is announced that effective December 24th, the 1,000 lira note will cease its production run, as well as the 500 lira notes. It will be a new series of notes, but designs have not been revealed yet. It is expected that Kofeiya and Nyanasherva might continue with the Presidential Series (Kofeiya), and the Culture of Nyanasherva series (Nyanasherva) for the time being, but the last 1,000 lira note will be produced for Luziycans on Christmas Eve.
The 500 lira notes will also be retired, meaning that effective November 1st, polymer 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 liras are to be made. The 100 liras will also be multicolored instead of the red which caused it to be underused. The 1 and 2 liras will be no longer made after Feb. 25, 2013, and won't be included in the new series. Since the introduction of the 1 lira coin in 1986, and the 2 lira coin in 1998, both have overtook their note equivalents respectively. The 1,000 and 500 liras will also be removed.
As per the Currency Act, 1921, these banknotes will continue to be legal, meaning it might pop up in a transaction 25 years from now. However, by June 1, 2013, the four retired notes with Luziycan design MUST be returned. If a lira of those denominations gets in the area, they are to be immediately checked, and disposed of if it has contamination or is so worn and torn.
Thus, within a few weeks, the lira will be seeing a new dawn, a more secure lira that will in the long run, increase its value.
This is very good.
OOC: It is, but you do realize it is over a year old.
