Founded in a strategically important position on the island of Isuv Aijt, which allows for fast access to all four major islands of the Carlistinian Isles, the city dates back to the dark ages, when the islands of Carlistan had not yet been unified and were constantly fighting amongst themselves.

Situated on a high cliff, the city was quickly fortified to protect the inhabitants and, probably more important at the time, the seat of the Wroski kings. In the Great Carlistanse War, which lasted almost 160 years from 1327 to 1475 and was a series of conflicts between the Wroski, Kijnnen and Isi kings which ruled over modern day Wrosk Aijt, Kijnn Aijt and Isuv Aijt, Redport was besieged no less than five times and bombarded from the sea but, in great contrast to most other coastal settlements existing at the time, never fell. During the centuries which followed, the air surrounding the isles was still filled with mistrust and hate for each other but Redport managed to flourish nonetheless and soon expanded off the cliff it had managed to perch on indomitably for so long and its borders soon consumed the smaller fishing villages which had developed at the city's foot.

Around 1500, Redport was a bustling trade centre for traders from all over the world. The other kingdoms of the isles were no less hostile towards the Wroski however and in 1598, war broke out once more as a fleet sailed from the island of Kijnn Aijt to Redport and, without warning, bombarded the commercial port facilities which had developed.

Hoping to prevent such incidents in the future and re-establish foreign traders' trust in the city, a canal was built to allow ships to unload in facilities further inland. This great feat was probably the first man-made body of water on the isles of Carlistan and was completed 1674. With the development to the early modern times, Redport's fortifications were constantly being rebuilt to combat the increasing threat of more dangerous artillery on enemy ships but the harbour remained relatively unchanged. This would prove disastrous.

In 1680, only six years after the first ship sailed into the new canal, an enemy fleet once again managed to wreak havoc. Despite being under heavy fire from the coastal defences, a fleet under the Isi Admiral Florens van Leysevik sent fire ships into the canal while damaging the city, its defenses, the armed fleet moored there and a large ammount of civilian craft. It was obvious that a solution was needed to protect the port and In 1685, the Wroski king commissioned the building of a new military and commercial port modelled after Vauban's impressive structure in Dunkirk. Finally completed 1699, this incredibly structure is still visible today and not only a popular tourist attraction but ready to defend Redport from anyone bold enough to sail into the sea almost enclosed by the islands of Imperial Great Carlistan.

Indeed, from that point on, enemy vessels shattered against the high cliffs of Redport and the city became a major trade hub once again. Nowadays, Redport is a cultural centre in the Empire of Great Carlistan.

Surviving the Wars of Unification unscathed, the city was fitted with new parks and museums and recieved a prestigious art gallery in 2014 dedicated to the city's history and funded by the deceased Emperor Karol, first of his name. Drawing tourists from within and outside the Empire, Redport has managed to retain an air of antiquity and history while becoming a modern administrative capital and centre of a grand and proud Empire.
