Dude - you're screwed against NewNick. Deal with it.

I think a few rocket salvoes would give Nick a run for his money, especially if you tipped the warhead with Novichok or something.

@Mikedor
I've always assumed that there would be conventions in place, but I suppose you'r right. Maybe someone like Chernobyl-Pripyat with his AN-94 style rifle could stack alternating JHP/FMJ rounds and use the 2-round burst to fire both AP and stopping rounds at the same time.

Really? Do you have stats/pic? FGR is supposed to fire a 8 x 63mm round, I'm not sure you would want to go any larger in an infantry weapon to be honest!

Mainly because they have almost no armour penetration. The rifles my regular infantry use fire blended metal bullets, and the DM rifles and sniper rifles can fire them too (although they generally only fire flechette rounds), I think I remember giving the rifle for my militia hollow point bullets, which I am sure they use against unarmoured targets, but even if they didn't, you don't really need hollow point bullets if you are firing a 8x65mm round.

The reason the M-16 has a 600m range, and the AUG a 300m range is because the AUG is only sighted for 300 meters. Wikipedia can state the rest.
Wikipedia wrote:Integrated with the receiver casting is a fixed carry handle that contains a 1.5x telescopic sight made by Swarovski Optik.[4] It contains a simple black ring reticle with a basic rangefinder that is designed so that at 300 m (984.3 ft) a 180 cm (5 ft 10.9 in) tall man-size target will completely fill (subtend) it, giving the shooter a relatively accurate method of estimating range. The sight cannot be set to a specific range but can be adjusted for windage and elevation for an initial zero and is designed to be calibrated for 300 m. When so set, aiming at the centre of a target will produce a hit at all ranges out to 300m.

As for why the AUG is heavier, I do not know, perhaps it has something to do with the fixed telescoping sights (scopes are heavy).

So basically it's because the doughnut scope limit's the AUG's range and accuracy capability?

Pretty much, if iron sights, or a different scope were used, than the AUG would have a similar range (depending on how long the barrel is) compared to the M-16.

In terms of LOL HUEG, the Rougecote FGR is barely longer than the M1 Garand although it is a little heavier. The difference in doctrine of 5.56 vs 7.62 long in RL is analogued in NS by the difference of doctrine between intermedietary (6, 6.5, 6.7 etc) vs larger. In a world where everyone wanks the fuck out of their body armour, large battle rifles are a working investment. .30-06 was used with good results before in history. I agree with your 4 types though. Type 3 is by far the most detestable. Too many MW2 kids hanging around.

By LOL HUGE, I mean any rifle chambered in something in a .30-06 or bigger. The FGR is a great gun, and compared to other huge battle rifles like my BR-95, and NN's ISR-Mk IV, it is a feather weight, but compared to real life weapons, the FGR is pretty damn big. I don't mind the type 3 weapons as long as they are well designed like the R2 and the soldiers that use them are somewhat realistic (aren't trained from birth to be soldiers, who spend their entire lives killing kittens, or toughened up by (in one of the special forces threads someone actually stated that he did this to his soldiers) shooting them repeatedly at point blank range until they collapse).

I see. Well, let's be fair; FGR is 150 grams lighter than the BR-95 and at maximum fires a round 2mm smaller in length. It's also a whole 110mm longer. Anyway, I take your point. I think in general battle rifles tend to be better designed than their assault rifle equivalents, but I'm probably a little bias. As for training, my troops are trained from birth in that kids on farms across America grow up shooting rifles and hunting in the woods. The stereotypical Questarian soldier is an American "farmboy." They're actually pretty terrible soldiers. That's what the Navy's for, I suppose...

I have never seen the ISR Mk-IV. Do you have a link to it anywhere? I want to compare it to the BR-95 and the FGR.

Well, most NS armies use at least some form of body armour, against which jacketed ammo would be more effective. If you're facing mass conscript armies though hollow points would be a good choice.

ISR-MkIV (New Nicksyllvania)
BR-95 (Anglo-Saxon Empire)
FN Rougecote FGR (Questers)

Just to pull some important stats off of these rifles

Main round
ISR: 8.1x60mm
BR-95: 8x65mm
FGR: 7.7x63mm

Length
ISR: 1,220mm
BR-95: 1,054mm
FGR: 1,140mm

Barrel Length
ISR: 635mm
BR-95: 520mm
FGR: 565mm

Weight
ISR: 5.7 kg
BR-95: 5.6 kg
FGR: 5.45 kg (wood furnishing) 4.7 kg (polymers)

Cost
ISR: $600
BR-95: $650
FGR: $750

Overall, the BR-95 and ISR-MkIV offer slightly more firepower, at the cost of weighing more (probably to reduce recoil), while the FGR is lighter and slightly more expensive. If you want to kill a person in one shot (or a charging rhino) any of these rifles could do the job just fine.

The pistol grip looks like it doesn't fit too well for some reason, I have attempted to remedy this with my horrible blending skills:

Designated Marksman rifle. Thoughts?

Why a 5.56 (or a similarly sized round)? It won't really offer much of a range advantage over your regular weapons unless your service rifle is the MP-7. Go for a round in the 7mm range, or better yet, design a LOL HUGE BATTLE RIFLE so that you can be added to the list.

Just to pull some important stats off of these rifles

Main round
ISR: 8.1x60mm
BR-95: 8x65mm
FGR: 7.7x63mm

Length
ISR: 1,220mm
BR-95: 1,054mm
FGR: 1,140mm

Barrel Length
ISR: 635mm
BR-95: 520mm
FGR: 565mm

Weight
ISR: 5.7 kg
BR-95: 5.6 kg
FGR: 5.45 kg (wood furnishing) 4.7 kg (polymers)

Cost
ISR: $600
BR-95: $650
FGR: $750

Overall, the BR-95 and ISR-MkIV offer slightly more firepower, at the cost of weighing more (probably to reduce recoil), while the FGR is lighter and slightly more expensive. If you want to kill a person in one shot (or a charging rhino) any of these rifles could do the job just fine.
Sweet comparison. Although FGR fires a 8 x 63mm round, I decided against 7.7, I just didn't update the NSD page... it reads 8 x 63 on the export page. Indeed, FGR is the lightest... I don't really see that, in terms of these pure statistics offered, that one has the advantage over the other. Although interestingly, the actions are different from one another.

ISR: Tilting breechlock
BR-95: Short stroke piston
FGR: Long-stroke, rotating bolt

2. LOL HUGE BATTLE RIFLES: Battle rifles like the ISR-Mk IV, and the FN Rougecote FGR. They are chambered in oversized rounds usually due to megalomania, or compensation issues.

3. LOL FUTURE MODERN WEAPONZ: I added the Z because Zs are cooler than Ses. Weapons the are top of the line, caseless ammo, BARS, fancy optics, the works. They are generally issued by very disciplined, well equipped militaries, or militaries that like to waste money on guns that cost as much as a new car or a 42 in plasma screen TV.

4. Modern weapons: They use modern weapons, that actually exist, or NS weapons that cost less than $2,500. Issued by normal armies, they are generally good enough, often chambered in any round between 5.45x39mm to 7.62x54mm. The nations that use these guns are boring, but probably have more effective soldiers for the cost to equip them than any of the above examples except for the AK-47 users.

This is basically you ASE, especially the underlined bit. I don't think anyone else is hardcore enough to give every man an R2!

I'm basically a hash-up between 2, 3 and 4. My GV-10 makes the FGR look like an FNC, and it uses lolhueg weight-shifting mechanism to allow you to use burst fire. My standard assault rifle, the AV-10 (currently being remade, I'll ask you what you think about the new version soon) uses BARS, but I think edges more to the 4 side.

I only give my Imperial Army R2s (my National Militia, which act as my reserves, or guys I want to deploy when I feel the urge to zerg rush are armed with my oversized battle rifle). Granted it is still is a massive waste of money, not to mention that my Imperial Army is also fully mechanized, their MBT is the MCA-7E,they all get level IV body armour night vision, and lots of other fancy gizmos. A few other nations use the R2 as their service rifle, but yes my military in general likes to waste money, plus how could I resist, the R2 is so tantalizing, and once you buy a $100,000 rifle, you might as well go all the way any buy fancy body armour and everything else.

Just use the AUG A3, its waaaay cooler, and it got iron sights!
Also, the AUG isn't very heavy, neither the weapon itself nor the scope. I'm speaking from my own experience ;)

Added some examples to the grouping of weapons.

1. Issued by normal armies, they are generally good enough, often chambered in any round between 5.45x39mm to 7.62x54mm. The nations that use these guns are boring, but probably have more effective soldiers for the cost to equip them than any of the above examples except for the AK-47 users.

1. AK-47: Most nations that use it are either LOL we use communist weapons, armies that rely on sheer numbers, poor nations, or stupid people that think that the AK-47 is the best, and give it to everyone, including elite special forces that they spend a decade training. Despite the name I gave this category, it includes any weapon from before 1950 that is not chambered in a round with over 3,500 J muzzle energy.
AK-47 (USSR)
STG 44 (Nazi Germany)

2. LOL HUGE BATTLE RIFLES: Battle rifles like the ISR-Mk IV, and the FN Rougecote FGR. They are chambered in oversized rounds usually due to megalomania, or compensation issues.
ISR-MkIV (New Nicksyllvania)
BR-95 (Anglo-Saxon Empire)
FN Rougecote FGR (Questers)

I'm definitely in group 2. As the WPLA is mainly a defensive army Battle rifles are perfect. Saying that, I need to do a V.2 of my battle rifle, it looks a bit shabby.

I would probably classify yours as group 1, since you use a 7.62x39mm round, or more likely, group 4. Your rifle may be long, but it isn't LOL HUGE. LOL HUGE weapons fire rounds that offer around 4,000J muzzle energy, a gun that can drop a charging rhino, or tear a man in half with one hit.

Wait, that's the old version. Remember you helped me decide on 7.92x57mm Mauser rounds for this?
