The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that a helicopter belonging to the Air Cavalry Division experienced what they are calling a "hard landing" last week. When asked by telephone what the difference is between a "hard landing" and a "crash", the Division's commanding General Marie-Louise Castro-Stalina replied only that, "We prefer to think of it as an unscheduled event."

No serious injuries were reported. The aircrew and a squad of air-assault troopers were airlifted out on the following morning. Engineers are currently on the site to determine whether the helicopter is fit to be flown out or whether it can be repaired in situ or whether it will need to be lifted out.

The General declined to comment on the cause of the incident but she said that there will be a full investigation.

Michael Arrington is the only person to have served two non-consecutive terms in the Presidency. Arrington was President from 1932 to 1938 before being unseated by James Harman after the surprising 1938 election where Arrington won a plurality in the first round but was bested in the second. Arrington then unseated Harman in 1944 and served as President until 1950.

It is not known how the settlers of the Malt kingdoms came to Okatama or when. It is also not known how they managed to get here or where they, themselves, came from.

One of the common phrases used in Ruridova to demonstrate a large area is 'from Arrecife to Alexandrovsk'(i.e., 'he looked from Arrecife to Alexandrovsk for it'). Puerto Arrecife is the largest settlement on the Alegranza Islands, a collection of Atlantic Islands controlled by Andalvarria Province; Alexandrovsk is a city on the mouth of the Irtysei River in Vorodzhnya Province. Arrecife and Alexandrovsk are literally on opposite ends of the country and the continent.

Truly, whatever you did for one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me."

Etymology

Postby Minroz » Sat Apr 26, 2014 7:58 am

The word ‘Minroz’ is the Romanised form of Méngguó (Chinese:蒙国, from Méng, based from “Menggu”, and guó, “state” or “states,” and in modern times, “nation”). And Méngguó is the most common Minrozian name for the country. Although the country’s official name has been changed numerous times by successive dynasties to the modern-day Qing. The term Méngguó was often used in pre-Imperial times often used as a cultural concept to distinguish the Menggurian tribes from perceived ‘barbarians’. The term, which can be either singular or plural, referred to the group of states or provinces in the central plain, but was not used as a name for the country as a whole until the sixteenth century.

However, the naming schemes for the Minrozian Empire are complicated. The Yuropans refers to the country as Minroz or sometimes Mengguria as the region for known millennia. Though the latter term is more politically accurate considering the Empire is founded by the Menggurians. In some cases, the two names “Minroz” and “Mengguria” were often used interchangeably. The Menggus themselves call their empire the Ikh Menggu Uls (Menggu World Empire or Great Menggu State) reflecting the government’s original ambition of world domination.

The Minrozians expounded on their ideology that they were bringing together the "outer" races like the Turans, Ishvarrians, Ruuz, Jongguons, Tidurrians and Doroks together with the "inner" Minrozians into "one family" united in the Imperial state, showing that the diverse subjects of the Empire were all part of one family, using the phrase "Zhongwai yijia" 中外一家 or "neiwei yijia" 內外一家 ("interior and exterior as one family"), to convey this idea of "unification" of the different peoples.

Roughly 47 years ago, the last Astropaths of the Avan Sector died. Due to an inability to return to Holy Terra, no new Astropaths have been trained. Instead, specially trained and bred Telepaths have filled in the position. The new Telepaths are closer in organization to the Navigators, forming complex families that breed based upon their telepathic ability. The best are bred with the best, and the resulting offspring are developed in complex Birthing Tanks designed to have conditions that increase psychic potential and maximize the health of the child.

The Telepaths tend to have far more versatile psychic abilities, but rarely reach the same telepathic power and range of their Astropath predecessors.

OOC: Turns out I mis-counted. Again. Huh.

TBRE Fact of the Week: Part Twenty Seven
Some have questioned why the TBRE, despite its relatively small population compared to the rest of the region, has managed to occupy such a large part of the Toy Islands in the center. Claims about military prowess aside (which admittedly have an element of truth), the TBRE is mostly natural-resources free (apart from the surrounding oceans, which are full of fish and not much else). Additionally, most of the terrain and climates are unsuitable for agriculture, save for parts of Grenatia (and even then, dense forests get in the way). All of these go some way in explaining why most cultures have left the modern-day TBRE unoccupied, and why the TBRE's major industries are in science and technology rather than the primary or manufacturing sector.

Open support of or assistance for Open Resource causes has been recently criminalised by Act 10502AA. The passage of the act lead to planet-wide operations against known Resser groups, from shutting down their websites to police raids on their premises and arrests. Despite the supposed brutality of the operations alleged by pro-Resser and other leftist groups, the Internal Security Bureau can confirm there were minimal casualties sustained during these operations.

While most of the Republic lives as if it was the 13th or 14th centuries all over again, the Amish who live in western Pennsylvania live as if it were the early-to-mid 19th century instead (minus the things related to the Industrial Revolution, of course).
