(And those of you who are truly left wing, don't worry, you'll have someone to vote for in the general election. The National Liberation candidate who calls himself “Vuelta de Villa” is running unopposed in his party’s primary.)

This one is simple, it's rally Huckabee vs. DeMint. None of the other candidates are even showing, and are probably wasting their time and money even trying to win the nomination.

Um, well... You see, there are complex vaguaries involved here...

I honestly don't know enough about Jim DeMint to RP as him, other than "generic Confederate presidential candidate." Before, like, three days ago, the only thing I knew about him was that he was "the other senator from South Carolina" (Graham being the one I'm more familiar with), and putting him in this primary wasn't my idea but that of someone who contributed to the previous "caucus" thread. So, I don't know, man. That's the best I can do.
Furthermore, higher education in the CS of NM is a little different. As a "Right-Wing Utopia"/"Corporate Police State" there probably wouldn't be any public higher education at all. And, of course, there wouldn't be a SEC or ACC, their college sports conferences would be aligned based on North Mexican rather than Southeastern US gegraphy.
(I haven't even decided yet whether they have football, or if they'd identify the sport as being too close to "damnyankee" culture for self-respecting rebs to embrace. Sports-wise, the only ones that I can say for sure are big in the Confederacy are baseball and wrestling, and, of course, soccer is popular among the Mestizos, but not so much the whites.
And your next question is, "what about NASCAR?" Well, since there was never prohibition in the Confederacy, there were never any bootleggers who had to soup up their cars to escape the police, so no historical basis for auto racing competition, so the sport never evolved.
These are all things I'm thinking about, but sports has lower priority than politics. That said...)
The in-universe Jim DeMint still has the same policies and ideology as the real-world one though, so focus on that.

If this is your nation's idea of "liberals", we in Maineiacs find your nation to be very frightening indeed. In Maineiacs, these gentlemen would be considered so radical that they would get less than 1% each from supporters of the Reform Party (our center-right party). The only people who would vote for them in a general election are people who were so stoned that they would think joke voting was a good idea. And frankly, there isn't enough marijuana in all of Maineiacs for any of these men to get a significant number of votes. In short, we cannot in good conscience endorse any of them, and we are, quite frankly, almost afraid to look at the slate of candidates from your conservative party.
