The Succession of the Throne of Estrimbaal is governed by the Aurion Decree originally issued by Godfrey, King of Estrimbaal in 923 to ensure the succession of his beloved daughter Anna (later Empress Anna I) to the throne. For this purpose was the Succession Law made Absolute Primogeniture, with the name of the family being retained until inheritance is passed through the female line twice without a intervening Emperor/Empress. This is why the House of Valois-Breton, while being the senior legitimate heir of the House of Aurion, is a house in its own right, as William III was a great-grandson of Charles II. Had his mother Anna, Countess of Breton been allowed to succeed the throne she would have been only the second female line for the inheritance to pass through from Charles II and so would have retained the name of the House of Aurion for her descendants.

How did they come to power General John Hunyadi (Hunyadi János) led a successful campaign against croatia, leading to the king at the time to give the family a writ of nobility. John Hunyadi would marry Elizabeth Szilágyi (Erzsébet Szilágyi) the daughter of a very wealthy noble. Their son, Matthias Hunyadi would be studious but unfortunately was captured by another noble family during a brief civil war. He would remain in captivity until he was 15, when another noble man found him, and aimed to raise him to the throne as he campaigned for a national monarch (the previous three monarchs were German). Eventually Matthias became the monarch and the family has ruled since.
