No, we do not celebrate that particular saint. We find this "valentines day" to be sappy, unseemly and undignified.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

TurtleShroom cardmakers, commercialists, candy companies, and calendars officially list it as Saint Valentine's Day, because they use it as a day to promote the kind of love sanctioned by the Christian faith.

Valentine's day, like RL USA, carries with it "Will You Be My Valentine" cards, candies, boxes, roses, baloons, and sweets. That's because TS is a capitalist country. Yet, like the original Saint Valentine, the underlying theme of the holiday is "Godly love", specifically the love between a man and his wife and the holy sanctity of marriage.

Cards carry an overwhelmingly religious theme, and most of the candies and gifts have some sort of Christian symbolism or relation, like cross-shaped chocolate bars or smiling angels on balloons. The religious ties of the holiday never really left, and TurtleShroomer Catholics always seem to report a high amount of mairrage ceremonies and attendance on their special holiday Mass.

TurtleShroom cities, particularly Jonesboro, also host "Straight Pride Days" on Valentines' Day. The institution of mairrage, defined as the union of one male creature and one female creature, is celebrated and praised. Crowds of humans and turtles march down the streets in tuxedos and bridal gowns (or their equivalent), waving large wooden crosses, Christian flags, and holding hands and kissing.

Kawaiians don't celebrate Valentine's Day, it being a foreign religious holiday. The nearest equivalent Kawaiian holiday would probably be Girl's Day. Girl's day occurs every 500 days or so, when the planet Venus reaches its highest point in the evening sky. (The holiday is approaching, btw, landing on 27 March of this year.)

Girl's Day is one of the four "family" holidays Kawaiians celebrate, in this case unmarried daughters. It's typically celebrated with romantic-themed parties and dinners. One of the unusual features of it is that on this day, the Kawaiian rules for marriage proposals are reversed. According to Kawaiian tradition, the man has to publicly propose to the woman before the two can be married. On Girl's Day, however, women can propose to men. More than one Kawaiian male has been prodded into proposing to his sweetheart out of fear that she'll embarrass him at the Girl's Day dance.

Does Your Nation Celebrate Valentine's Day?

Postby Parhe » Wed Apr 23, 2014 1:39 am

Simple enough, yes, no, or maybe. If so, how do you celebrate? If not, what do you do?

In part because of Valentine's Day the fourteenth of every month is a love and couple related holiday, although increasingly celebrated among close friends of any gender. On the fourteenth of February, or Parhe's equivalent, couples make chocolate for each other.
Hey, it is Parhe :D I am always open to telegrams.
I know it is a Work-In-Progress, but I would love it if y'all looked at my new factbook and gave me some feedback!

Yes. In Valkan, people decorate buildings with red, pink and white. Young males also use this day as an opportunity to propose marriage to their significant other. Community areas are usually full of couples young and old during this day, but one can also find a group of friends or a family having fun on their own as well.

In Tantricia, every day is an informal Valentine's Day- except for February 14th, which is a somber gathering to remember our fallen compatriots.

We do, but here it's called "Free Game Day", as all marriages and such are automatically null for the entire day.
Anyone can date anyone, and if it goes a bit... 'deeper' in that new relationship, then so be it. Once the day is over, all marriages are back on, etc, etc.

only a few people know Valentine's Day and fewer people celebrate it. So if you ask a random stranger here the response will likely be "Vvelen, velen what?"

Hi, Earth! I'm Rimarua from the Hazameian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I'll be handling this account now for Hazamaeia replacing Vice-Minister Ranuwavimranure so he can focus more on his higher duty in the ministry.

I also play badminton and will represent my nation in the next Olympic. At that time, I'll be most likely replaced by my roommate here, Arina. She works at the grocery store next to our apartment.

Why are you saying bad things about me, Rima? I am an author and I own that grocery store!
Oh look! She won the gold medal. Now I should stand her bragging about it.

This is still my eyes though.

While we do not celebrate this sweety and cuddle-filled lovefest, it is a religious celebration amongst christians in our country.
The name of the country is pronounced [ɢaɭ ɡɐ kʃia], Or, if you're not familiar with the IPA system, "Galgaetia" or "Galgacia".
