Does Your Nation Celebrate Valentine's Day?

Postby Carassia » Tue Feb 14, 2012 10:24 am

Simple enough, yes, no, or maybe. If so, how do you celebrate? If not, what do you do?

In Carassia, February 14th is the Day of Caring, where mutual affection is show to loved ones, family, and friends. Gifts are typically exchanged as well, and roses and seats at romantic diners are usually in short supply. Fireworks may be seen in some regions.

Yes, we do celebrate it. It is a national holiday where everyone celebrates the people around them. So there is less emphisis on couples and more on your family and friends.
I set out to create a nation based on few laws, and common sense. Then I realised people are half wits who will use any excuse to test the boundries, and no boundries would be anarchy. Britinthia now has red tape on a scale never before seen outside of the U.K.

In Ardouse you can celebrate whatever you want, however you want, as long as it doesn't infringe upon the personal freedoms of anyone else. A survey of 2,000 people conducted on the 12th February 2011 by Faulkes-Wurien Éditions SA estimates that around 39% of Ardousiens celebrate Valentine's Day.

It's not an official holiday, but some people personally celebrate it and some businesses try to make profit out of it.

We celebrate Saint Valentine's Day (Jour Sanctus Valentinus). However, it is purely a feast dedicated to that saint, and the Western concept of 'Valentine's Day' as a love-related holiday is nothing like our celebration.

They can celebrate it if they want. People can just either be bored in their house or they can have a Valentine's Day shag.

Yes we do and its celebrated similar to the way it is in the US. Although the gifts tend to be unusually large. It's quite funny to just sit and watch the foreigners reactions to the size of the gifts.

The government does not recognize it and does not encourage it, but the majority of Patagonians, romantics that they are, celebrate it anyways. They don't celebrate with flowers and chocolate but do sit around mountaintops kissing in public. Also, there are plenty of llamas.

Yes. It isn't anything on the scale of a national holiday, but as a symbolic day of love and affection it is celebrated.
Look up my Factbook, it's snazzy
