The legacy continues.

1 - What is the legal drinking age? One must be 16 to purchase alcohol. Drinking in general is legal at any age.

2 - Driving age? 14 to drive with a licensed adult in the car. 16 to drive alone.

3 - Age of sexual consent?

4 - Voting age? 18. Citizens are expected to vote responsibly by doing research into the candidates before casting their vote. An election can be overturned by the reigning power if s/he can prove a lack of research on the part of the populace. (However, it should be noted that elections are seldom held for anything in Antemyst.)

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? - Usually 18, but one can petition earlier.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal?

-Pot - Legal and taxed by the government. It is illegal to smoke indoors or in certain public places.

- Tobacco - Legal and taxed by the government. It is illegal to smoke indoors or in certain public places.

- Cocaine - Illegal; its use in any case is at best a misdemeanor.

-Alcohol - Legal, taxed.

- LSD - Illegal; its use in any case is at best a misdemeanor.

- Caffeine - Legal

- Heroin - Illegal; its use in any case is at best a misdemeanor.

- Other? All the rest, including synthetic drugs, are illegal, except for one: sugar. Sugar is considered under the same light as caffeine - addictive and potentially a threat - but is not very heavily regulated.

7 - Can people have guns? Yes, though they must be registered. Guns are unpopular in Antemyst, as much of the population is capable of protecting itself through superhuman abilities and/or physical training.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called? The Maritime Empire of Antemyst, Antemyst, Antemystics.

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Yes, and it is actually used.

10 - What is the speed limit? Varies. On Antemyst itself, the speed limit hovers around 45 mph, as anything that isn't a residential road is a highway. On the other planets, the speed is determined by the local residents, and range from 10 to 40 in neighborhoods and 50 to 80 on the interstate.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? All are permitted, and none are restricted, as Antemystics show little interest in them anyway. Religions are regulated by the families in any neighborhood.

Which of the following are illegal:

12- Porn - Anything involving children, others unable to consent, or anyone who did not consent is highly illegal.

13-Prostitution - Legal, taxed, and regulated, though it is incredibly unpopular.

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - All legal when there is consent among all sides, though not incredibly prevalent in Antemyst.

15-Homosexuality - Legal and has never been questioned.

16-Stem cell research - Legal in all cases.

17-Human Cloning - Legal, though it has not been done in many years, as some mutants are able to clone people without the risks of scientific cloning.

18-Cock Fighting? Technically legal, but frowned upon and seldom done.

19-Slavery? - Illegal in all cases.

20-Hunting? Legal, except for a small list of endangered species.

21-Fishing - Legal; one of Antemyst's main industries. Overfishing is frowned upon.

22-Eating meat? Legal and up to each individual.

23-Littering? Illegal in the sense that if one is caught littering, one will be made to clean the entire area he littered in.

24-Unisex bathrooms ? Legal but rare.

25-Suicide? - Legal, including euthanasia.

26 - Gay marriage? - Technically legal. All marriages are private, decided amongst families; the government has nothing to do with them.

27-Abortion - Legal, sometimes required in cases where the parents are reported as potentially incompetent.

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? All consensual activities not involving children are legal. Bestiality is frowned upon.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Everything is optional, which has led to the unfortunate deaths of many traditions in the most recent generation.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene". - Obscenity is determined by each family or community; the government has no hand in it.

31-What system do you have for taxes?
- Income tax? None.

31aSales tax? None on most items; some things, such as tobacco, marijuana, prostitutes, and other controlled products are taxed according to usage.

31bImport/Export tax? Import: Usually, though these taxes tend to be low to help trade. Export: Usually, and they vary based on the item and destination.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Past records of behavior, plus a nationality exam.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? Short-term visitors are all allowed. Those who plan to become residents must have clear backgrounds in their past countries, and must prove an understanding of Antemyst's laws.

34-What type of government are you? Elective monarchy, with the option to return to its roots as a hereditary monarchy.

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? The government can censor anyone at will and for any reason; in return, the community can rally against the government for doing so.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? For example – Antemyst being unofficial in everything it does, this is a broad and hardly explored area.

The Emperor or Empress is at the heart of this. There is no mandate or constitution limiting his or her powers. The only limit is the will or patience of the people.

Driving is another. There are no strict guidelines regarding driving. It's just understood that if you drive badly, you're going to injure someone, probably yourself. Drinking and drugs are the same way.

1 - What is the legal drinking age? Adulthood (by default 16, or earlier if a YellowApple Application for Premature Adulthood is sent to and approved by the YellowApple Department of Domestic Relations)

2 - Driving age? See question 1. A provisional permit (no lone driving, strict curfew) may be obtained at age 15.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? - Some, but not all. See below for specifics. Most legal recreational drugs cannot be taken during work with most employers (including YellowApple, Inc.) unless medically prescribed by a physician. Additionally, operating any vehicle while under the influence of such a substance is regarded to be attempted mass murder. Purchase requires recognition as a legal adult, though underage consumption is legal by default (seeing as there is no legislation on that particular topic at present).

-Pot - Legal, but cannot be smoked as per YellowApplan oxygen preservation policies.

- Tobacco - Illegal to possess, import, or consume, due to the substantial health hazards posed by second-hand smoke (smoking is considered to be attempted mass murder)

- Cocaine - Illegal to possess, import, or consume, due to cocaine addiction being a known cause of productivity hindrance.

-Alcohol - Perfectly legal.

- LSD - Legal.

- Caffeine - Legal.

- Heroin - Illegal to possess, import, or consume, due to heroin addiction being a known cause of productivity hindrance.

- Other? Methamphetamine is also illegal to possess, import, or consume for similar reasons. Few other drugs are regulated.

7 - Can people have guns? Yes. Certification is required for each class of firearm owned/operated/possessed/purchased, and additional certification is required for concealed carry. Felony crimes and firearm-related felonies revoke all certifications for 32 years (non-firearm-related misdemeanors only 8 years). 8 - What is the official full name of your country? The Nomadic Peoples of YellowApple / YellowApple, Inc.

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Yes, but it is rarely used (reserved for serial rape/murder or terrorism resulting in loss of innocent life)

10 - What is the speed limit? Varies; 16 m/s is most common in sideroads, 32 m/s in major thoroughfares. Speed limits are dynamic and change depending on traffic density.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? Religion is not regarded as relevant in YellowApplan politics; thus, all religions are equal, but special treatment for religious beliefs is mostly nonexistent.

Which of the following are be legal:

12- Porn - Legal; recordings of actual (non-simulated) rape, pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia are illegal to produce (not illegal to obtain or view, but either will almost inevitably result in a criminal investigation to ascertain the source of said pornographic media and prosecute the persons involved in production accordingly).

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - All perfectly legal.

15-Homosexuality - Legal.

16-Stem cell research - Legal, provided the act of obtaining the stem cells does not involve the death of a fetus or embryo after its first quarter of development.

17-Human Cloning - Legal, but clones have rights equal to any other sapient being.

18-Cock Fighting? Illegal. Very illegal.

19-Slavery? - Illegal

20-Hunting? - Legal by default; there is no legislation on this topic, as wildlife does not exist in cities flying in the lower stratosphere.

21-Fishing - See question 20.

23-Littering? - Illegal. There's no excuse either; refuse chutes are commonplace in nearly all public and private locations.

24-Unisex bathrooms? - Legal, and actually quite commonplace.

25-Suicide / Euthanasia / Right to Death with Diginity - All legal, provided the action is performed by the individual in question.

26 - Gay marriage? - Legal.

27-Abortion - Legal only if during the first quarter and if the pregnancy has special circumstances (generally, either caused by rape or poses a major health hazard to the mother and/or child)

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal? All consensual acts of sexuality are legal (non-consensual sexual activities - including paedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia - are classified as rape).

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Optional, but cultural values frown upon full nudity. For sanitary reasons, the buttocks and genitals must be covered at all times.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? No. It is the responsibility of the a child's guardian(s) to monitor and control what that child does or does not access in terms of multimedia.

31-What system do you have for taxes? Quite flexible, and based purely on government-provided services used, with each service costing a flat percentage of one's income.

31aSales tax? None.

31bImport/Export tax? Exports are not taxed by YellowApple, Inc. (but may be by the receiving nation(s)); imports are taxed unless they are of food products, with the tax based on political/economic partnership (0% being common for political and economic allies).

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Submit a YellowApple Citizenship Application Form to the Department of Domestic Relations.

34-What type of government are you? Autocratic corporate republic

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? It can do so as much as it pleases, but finds censorship expensive to enforce and thus chooses not to do so.

Postby Sidhae » Sun Feb 05, 2012 3:32 am

1 - What is the legal drinking age? No restrictions.
2 - Driving age? Whenever a Sidh completes the training course for piloting a personal vehicle.
3 - Age of sexual consent? Same as above
4 - Voting age? Whenever a Sidh has completed a minimum term of 3 year military service.
5 - At what age would someone become an adult? Sidhae are grown to adult size and educated by neuro-interactive sims, essentially being born as fully capable adults.
6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? None. Not that our citizens wouldn't know any better than to poison themselves with such junk.
7 - Can people have guns? Of course! Most don't own any, however, since Sidh cities are very safe and owning a personal firearm is a practical necessity only on frontier worlds.
8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called Formal: Imperium of Sidhae// Informal: Imperium // Citizens: Sidhae
9 - Do you have the death penalty? Yes. But we believe killing an offender shows a rather sad lack of imagination. We prefer more... persuasive punishments that leave an impression and make a better example of the offender.
10 - What is the speed limit? 50 kph within city limits, except for high-speed intra-city lanes, where no speed limits exist. Very few Sidhae own a personal vehicle however, most preferring to use the safe, fast and efficient public transportation system.
11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? Sidhae have outgrown such obsolete superstitions.
Which of the following are legal:
12- Porn Nothing is restricted, but there are things that Sidhae just won't do. Snuff films and rape of human children aren't one of these things, mind it.
13-Prostitution Something that humans practice. Sidhae are too dignified to sell out their flesh.
14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory Just fine with us, if a bit unusual.
15-Homosexuality Non-existent. Eugenics has eradicated natural homosexuality or any other unorthodox form of sexuality.
16-Stem cell research There's hardly a thing left to research about them in our time.
17-Human Cloning Technologically feasible, but why would anyone want to clone a HUMAN? Sidh cloning, on the other hand, is seen as impractical due to loss of genetic diversity in a population of clones. We do have more efficient means of reproduction in our disposal.
18-Cock Fighting? Considered animal abuse, a very un-Sidh thing. Where's the sport watching two mindless birds whack each other anyway? Gladiator combat, on the other hand, is a whole different story...
19-Slavery? Perfectly fine, as long as it's humans and aliens that are the slaves.
20-Hunting? Practiced out of necessity on some frontier worlds, but not much more than that. Sidhae simply don't see killing non-sapient creatures as challenging enough.
21-Fishing see above
22-Eating meat? It isn't a preference, it is a requirement. Sidh biotech factories grow all the meat our citizens need, making abusing living animals in factory farms unnecessary.
23-Littering? Our citizens know better than that, with garbage disposal units and cleaning bots being abundant enough to always have a proper way to dispose of garbage. Sidh cities are famous for their pristine cleanliness.
24-Unisex bathrooms? Depends on location. Segregated bathrooms are preferred where practical, but in places like starships and other space-restricted locales, unisex bathrooms are used.
25-Suicide? The third most common cause of death besides accident and war casualties. A Sidh who feels he has served the Imperium long enough may ask for permission to "retire", which is an euphemism for suicide. It is discouraged as a poor example to others, a kind of weakling's way out, but accepted as their choice.
26 - Gay marriage? Since there are no gay Sidhae, and the institution of marriage is also non-existent, we think that pretty much answers the question.
27-Abortion Sidhae do not reproduce naturally, hence abortion is irrelevant to them.
28- What types of sexual activity are illegal? Non-consensual sex between Sidhae. Any Sidh-on-human activity, including rape, necrophilia, paedophilia, any combination of thereof, and other sick and depraved perversions that one can imagine are perfectly fine, if somewhat taboo.
29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Dress codes of most Sidh organizations are not enforced by law, but by peer pressure. Sidhae place great emphasis on conformity, and a citizen will wear a uniform to fit in rather than to meet any legal standards.
30-Do you have obscenity laws? No, but irreverent and casual references to the Emperor and the Empress are a very strong taboo and may lead to prosecution for promotion of unpatriotic views, which is tantamount to treason.
31-What system do you have for taxes? Taxes do not exist here in the traditional sense, since everything is state property, and state obviously cannot tax itself.
32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? One must be a Sidh. To become a Sidh, a human is required to pass rigorous medical examinations that determine his genetic compatibility, health and fitness. If he is admitted to the conversion procedure, he must then survive it.
33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? We generally prefer to keep non-Sidhae out of our realms, but the humans that we have conquered and haven't converted or exterminated yet probably count as allowed, or at least tolerated.
34-What type of government are you? A monarchy
35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? The media isn't censored. State media has the distinct advantage of simply not publishing information the government doesn't want people to know.
36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? The names of the Emperor and the Empress are regarded with great reverence, and are referred to only in the most serious of circumstances. Any form of disrespect towards them is strongly taboo and is often subject to violent retaliation.
Proud National Socialist. Blaming everything on the liberals since 2000.

The world is full of criminal enterprises and terrorist organizations. The most successful ones are known as states.

Life is like surfing the Internet - there's no meaning or purpose, yet you don't really want to quit either.

The fact that slaves are allowed to elect their masters does not abolish the division in masters and slaves.

Don't try to deride me by calling me an "-ist" or "-phobe" unless you are referring to a medical condition or are trying to compliment me.

Socially-liberal capitalist democracy DOES NOT equate to free society.

Contrary to popular belief, National Socialists aren't racists. They simply hate their own race less than others.

1 - What is the legal drinking age? Non-regulated, though cultural norms say that "if you can't hold the liquor, you can't hold the bottle". Drinking with meals as young as 10 is not unheard of.

2 - Driving age? For auto-mobiles - 15, or otherwise demonstrating appropriate care and understanding. Not regulated, but your vehicle can be taken away from you if you demonstrate a total disregard for safety.

3 - Age of sexual consent? Irrelevant. You have to be married first, and marriage cannot happen until you have your parent's consent, as they are the best judge of your character. Note that your parents only get to permit you to marry, not to judge your partner, though you should still defer to them in that regard.

4 - Voting age? None. You have to be understood in your parish to be capable mentally of handling the issues at hand, which for most people happens around the age of 16

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? Strictly speaking, never. Culturally, around the age of 25. Legally, you are free of parental control in most respects at 21.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal?

-Pot - Legal and known, but not widely available. Low demand. Seen as "slothful".

- Tobacco - Not grown, or legal for trade. Seen as avaricious.

- Cocaine - Virtually unknown. Use would probably be seen as gluttonous.

-Alcohol - As mentioned above, fully legal and widely accepted to moderation. Frowned upon in excess.

- LSD - Hasn't been invented yet in my timeline.

- Caffeine - Legal, seen in many drinks as incidental. Caffine pills and energy drinks haven't been developed

- Heroin - legal, as used in the medical profession.

- Other? Not really.

7 - Can people have guns? Yes. Ordinary civilians may have long-arms of a bolt-, lever-, or pump-action variety, firing no larger than buckshot (in the case of shotguns) or the .30-06 round (for rifles/smoothbores). Police and Coast Guard personnel are entitled to revolvers or semi-automatic service pistols.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called? The Archdiocese of San Benedict e San Francesco/The Islands/Benedictine (or Franciscan) Islanders.

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Surely Not

10 - What is the speed limit? None/not accounted for. Drivers are expected to be able to operate their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Some parishes limit the speeds within their limits, but it is not consistent.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? Roman Catholicism only, though in the spirit of ecumenism, people of other religions are tolerated (just not their houses of worship).

Which of the following are be legal:

12- Porn - Absolutely Not

13-Prostitution - No, and there's no real demand either.

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - No.

15-Homosexuality - Not illegal, but seen as sinful and a mental illness

16-Stem cell research Doesn't exist yet in my timeline.

17-Human Cloning - See Stem Cell Research.

18-Cock Fighting? No laws specifically against it, but it is culturally unpopular.

19-Slavery? Illegal, though private endenturement arrangements are.

20-Hunting? Legal, popular, and for many families necessary.

21-Fishing - see above

22-Eating meat? Legal, except on Fridays of Lent (when it is sinful) and for members of religious orders who have rules against it.

23-Littering? No laws against it, but it is considered extremely rude and wasteful.

24-Unisex bathrooms ? Private (single-fixture) bathrooms only.

25-Suicide? Illegal, culturally stigmatized, and very rare.

26 - Gay marriage? - No such thing.

27-Abortion - Not legal. Medical science isn't really advanced far enough for it to be safe, either.

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Rape, paedophilia. Incest and fornication in general are frowned upon. The confessor has a right to tales of your bedroom heroics, but not the constable.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Entirely mandatory in public.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene". - Redunant. This covers bans on foul language and so forth in print and on display.

31-What system do you have for taxes?
- Income tax? Citizens pay no income tax, save for tithing

31aSales tax? Nope

31bImport/Export tax? Nope

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? You must be a baptised catholic of good standing and have lived in the country without incident for a year.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? We do not allow those bearing arms beyond what is legal for civilian possession, except in times of crisis, and even then, they must surrender those arms.

34-What type of government are you? Theocratically-organized true democracy (parish councils are pure-participatory democratic)

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? See our answer to obscenity laws.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? The entirety of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
