The PKH-13 is the latest member of the venerable "PK" (Pulemyot Kalashnikova) family of machine guns, which first saw service in the 1950s. Following from the PKM, the PKH-13 has seen many small improvements worked in from combat experience in the early 2000s.
The Western engineers recommended to the Kalashnikov-produce arms manufacturers in Minroz certain improvements to the PKM owing to their experience fighting alongside the armies of Iraq and Afghanistan - improvements that formed the basis of the PKH. As with its Omaskan counterpart, the MAG 031, the PKH is an extremely reliable and rugged weapon. However, it is also somewhat less expensive to manufacture. The PKH-13 sports a low-power scope and it’s ambidextrous.
Like their Azarya-DhS2 cousins, it can also be chambered for the 7.62x39mm Russian, 7.62mm NATO, 7.62mmR and 7.5x45mm Minrozian. The rear part of the buttstock houses an accessory / cleaning kit and a disassembled cleaning rod is stored in bipods.
