INTRODUCTION
Colonized in the early 17th century during a race for colonies by the two dominant powers at the time, Vuhifell broke away in 1700 and was originally recognized as the Republic of East Point for much of its early history. During the following century, the Republic of East Point and the Greykan Confederacy joined together to form the Republic of Vuhifell - the first transcontinental union in the world. Over the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, Vuhifell would split into over twenty core provinces and expand beyond the Vuhifellian continent to overtake her former colonial powers. The nation suffered a brutal civil war (1964-1968) during which the Republic of Greykan declared independence and local communist parties staged a coup in the capital of Hivez. Buoyed by the victories against both Greykan and the communists, the victors established the Vuhifellian Federation on July 10, 1970 as a means to neuter the central government and bolster the power of the provinces. Over the span of 40 years, the nation has continued to achieve low inflation, high economic growth, and rapid technological advances, although a centuries old religious and ethnic conflict continues to flare on and off in the western provinces.
