Would it still make sense to break an armoured infantry section into 600m and 300m fireteams, or should they be broken as the section leader sees fit? Or would a two man MG group, grenadier, marksman and three riflemen be better?

What's the difference between the different types of soldiers? I guess Fusilier is 'basic infantry'? I must say I approve of traditional naming methods and the good art.

As far as I break my armored infantry sections, not saying it's decidedly smart, but take my normal ten-man squad, and cut out one grenadier and fireteam. This drops it to seven. This is the dismount section. Now the vehicle has a driver and a vehicle commandergunner that takes over the role of suppression, allowing the machine gun section to maneuver more to compensate.

Hmm. Not bad all told, although I think a two man fireteam a tad too small.

The grenadier for all practical purposes is part of the fireteam he/she's attached to, despite administratively being a separate "fireteam".

So, while administratively the fireteams are each two people, in practical use a fireteam is three.

Looking again at Chebucto infantry stuff.

Up until the mid 1980s the Army uses an FN FAL based infantry small arms family in 7.62x51mm, pretty much as Canada did. In the 1970s a replacement is developed locally using the new NATO standard 5.56mm round, but it is not adopted until 1984 when it enters service as the C7 Self Loading Rifle.

The C7 SLR will replace the C1A1 SLR in infantry service starting in early 1985. The C2A1 Auto-Loading Rifle will continue as the squad support weapon until 1992 when a special variant of the C7 will be developed as the C8 Auto-Loading Rifle. C13 is the M72 LAW. C15 is the Spike-MR.

C1 Pistol is the Browning Hi-Power. C8A1 SLR is a marksman conversion of the C8 LMG. C6 is the FN MAG. C11 is a 40mm under barrel grenade launcher.
The infantry platoon is the basic fighting formation of the infantry. It consists of two rifle sections and a machine gun section, as well as the platoon HQ.

Platoon HQ:
- Platoon IC: C7 SLR, C1 Pistol
- Platoon 2IC: C7 SLR, C1 Pistol
-- RTO: C7 SLR
-- Medic: C7 SLR

2x Rifle Sections:
- Sec Leader: C7 SLR, C1 Pistol
-- Marksman: C8A1 SLR, C1 Pistol
- Team Lead: C7 SLR, C11 UBGL
-- Gunner: C8 ALR
-- Rifleman: C7 SLR, C13 Rocket
-- Rifleman: C7 SLR, C13 Rocket
- Team Lead: C7 SLR, C11 UBGL
-- Gunner: C8 ALR
-- Rifleman: C7 SLR, C13 Rocket
-- Rifleman: C7 SLR, C13 Rocket

Machine Gun Section:
- Sec Leader: C7 SLR, C1 Pistol
-- AT Gunner: C15 ATGM
- Team Lead: C7 SLR, C11 UBGL
-- Gunner: C6 GPMG
-- Asst.Gunner: C7 SLR
- Team Lead: C7 SLR, C11 UBGL
-- Gunner: C6 GPMG
-- Asst.Gunner: C7 SLR

Since 1997 the MG Section of each infantry platoon has had an open selection of weapon systems with cross-training. While still formally applied as a machine gun section, the section can deploy with an array of weapons ranging from 40mm grenade machine guns to 60mm light mortars and other crew served weapons. The issue and use of these weapons is up to the platoon commander.

All infantry are light infantry by default, and the platoon can either walk, parachute, or ride into battle. Trucks and other light vehicles can be used, as well as various protected infantry carriers provided by the Machine Gun Corps.

Most of my :not:Finnish military is, disregarding the armored portion(IFVs in place of APCs, ditch one FT and one grenadier) and not a lot more than two fireteams worth of infantry that has to march.

Current war time mobilization according to wiki is
Operational units:
3 Readiness Brigades (Jaeger Brigade 2005 type)
2 Jaeger Brigades (Jaeger Brigade 91 type)
2 Mechanized Battle Groups
2 Motorized Battle Groups
1 Helicopter Battalion
1 Special Forces Battalion (Erikoisjääkäripataljoona)
1 Anti-Aircraft formation

Regional units:
6 Infantry Brigades (Infantry Brigade 80 type)
14 Independent Battalions and Battle Groups
28 Local Defence units and Volunteer reserve units (Maakuntajoukot)

1 readiness brigade is mechanized with mix of CV90 and XA-series
1 readiness brigade is mechanized with mix of AMV and XA-series
1 readiness brigade is mechanized with Bandvagn style vehicles
1 jaeger brigade is mechanized with XA-series of vehicles
1 jaeger brigade is mechanized with Bandvagn style vehicles
mechanized battlegroups are on BMP-2s and MT-LBs
Motorized battlegroups are on MT-LBs

There is X number of regional battlegroups with XA-series vehicles, but they are in minority and I am not sure how many, but most of regional units move in trucks, tracktors, vans or on foot.
