What kind of punk? Stoampunk would use a plethora of gilded muskets/bolt-action, diesel would use the same rifles, just not gilded, cyber would probably use some sort of silly caseless design.

depends how punk/rebellious you want to be. If you are REALLY nonconformist, everyone will have their own rifle with it's own unique ammunition.

What confuses me is the necessity, or even logic, behind the creation of said round. It seems a rather silly combination of the 7.92mm Mauser and 7.62mmR, which promises none of the benefits of either.
