The reason they can move so fast is because of warp fields. The combination of exotic matter and antimatter within their reactors allow them to generate these fields. With them, they are able to move and manipulate the space around them. In order to prevent damage to surroundings if one of them were to be destoroyed, these materials are stored within their own (smaller) pocket dimensions.

As a better explanation, they're genetically engineered for their consciousness specifically. Almost their entire bodies are inorganic.
