We've RPed non-Anglosphere countries in English before and we can do it again.

I know but can't we try it in English this time? It would make things smooth while only making the rp more realistic if anything.

Wherever we end up, we could be a former US colony. Every incarnation we've had minus Dagmar (read: shitshow) has had some form of British legislature. A Parliament, every time. MPs and all that stuff.

Away with that! We should have a Congress next time, or actually live up to our name and have a Senate. Or both! No more Parliaments.

Different title though.

Things we need to not have next time:

- committees
- a parliament
- talking to the speaker because of some bullshit formality
- Insta-welfare state, now 50% off!

I disagree. I would prefer a parliament, but I believe we NEED to keep the formality and the committees.

We never had committees before Dagmar, and they were, quite frankly, a total failure. I see no reason to keep them around.

I'm not saying we can't keep the general concept of a Parliament (god knows how bad an American style congress would be with filibustering), but we need to change it up, get rid of the godawful precedent and fanciness. It's disgustingly boring,

If you don't like speaking all parlimaentary then maybe don't join a text-based RP based in a parliament.

Committees can go suck a fuck, but I would prefer we kept the traditional formal parliament.

My view exactly. I think committees were a good idea, and I'm glas we tried them, but they ultimately didn't work, but there is nothign wrong with parliamentary precedent other than a few people who can't find the inner strength to write 'Mr Speaker' a few times int heir poorly resoned, one sentence arguments.

Neither are we in General, mind you.

It was composed of generalites at first, was it not? Or was it not?

On another note, our next location should be relatively socially conservative, so there won't be such a hivemind about gay marriage and boring shit. I like the concept of being an undeveloped backwater, we'd have a lot less to work with and a lot more issues to solve.

I think that some degree of parliamentary procedure is fine (and it has existed to varying extents throughout the Senate, Aurentina had relatively strict procedures), but what didn't work was an elaborate, highly technical set of rules designed for a handful of people to completely shut down all business they don't like, as happened in Dagmar.
