"...and waste away on some awful moon? No thanks.", said the spirit.
Ava smiled. She looked up as a plane flew by. A soldier noticed the spirit, and managed to crash into a truck as he stared at it. The spirit snorted. "So what are you going to do, Ava? Just gonna cower behind these crates and not face your problems? I guess you're still a coward..."
Ava glared. "I don't know...I don't think I'm ready to talk to him yet..."
The spirit scoffed. "Ugh, just like you!" Ava said nothing.
After a while, the spirit spoke again. "I guess we could just sit here and glare at each other until somebody drops dead, but I think I'll go. If you won't help yourself, then neither will I". Ava looked away. "Till we meet again...fire freak". The spirit vanished into a puff of fire.
Ava scoffed. "I knew I shouldn't have asked her", Ava mumbled to herself.

Dom sighed upon seeing the spirit disappear, and he leaned back against the crate. Unfortunately, this caused the crate on top of it to fall over loudly and crack open, spilling morphine syrettes onto the ground. Dom winced, and slowly turned around, preparing for Ava's reaction.

Ava whirled around. There was Dom, looking right at her.
How long had he been watching? But that didn't matter.
Ava started to say something. But she didn't. Instead she just stared back at Dom, a fearful look on her face. She turned around and ran, headed towards the Wallaby.

Inside the 'filthy looking town', a slightly less filthy marketplace flourished. While its notions of sanitation were certainly better than the town that surrounded it, and was even cobbled, it seemed to also bear the mark of poverty. Even on the main street businesses were shuttered, nobody selling wishing to remain long enough to rent or purchase them. However, amidst this the cobbled path eventually opened up into a bit of a court, the hub of life in this town. The court was a ring of cobblestone, with a ring of businesses outside of it, and a green garden-like area inside of it. It didn't take long for a careful observer to find 'an old Reil'. Sitting on a simple wooden bench was a gentleman with wisps of white facial hair, carefully groomed and looked after; much like his clothes. Still wearing his faded red doublet, he seemed to be a noble creature, crippled and brought to rest in a world he didn't belong in.

Oh come on...
Dom jumped off the ground and grabbed the suitcase. He started running after Ava, holding the case close to his chest.
"Ava, wait! Please! I just want to talk!"

Carthage looked at the agent, regarding him silently. He remained silent, weighing the gravity of the situation. Finally, he spoke up, trying to take control with a probing lie. "I was told you would come."

"Please...?"
Dom sighed and sat down at a booth. He opened up the suitcase and stared at it's contents, which included a set of clothes, a small book titled "The Grapes of Wrath", a bottle of vodka, and a grey waistcoat.

"Eheheheheh..." cackled a voice.
"You really are pathetic..." said the spirit, peering at Dom from across the booth.

Dom closed the briefcase and glared at it.
"Oh yeah? And what would you know about pissing off your fire-nomad girlfriend? Or, quite possibly, former girlfriend..."

She just stared at him with intense, burning eyes. She seemed amused.
The spirit chuckled, giving Dominic a toothy grin.

"I don't imagine you have enough coin to know both that and what you're asking, now do you?" Carthage asked, leaning back onto the bench. If your employer is as important as you say, though..." He looked to the side, and sidled towards the agent. "Perhaps you need not pay in coin."

The spirit suddenly looked up, as if hit with a bright idea. She got up from the booth, smiling at Dom.
"Oh wait, what's this?" A fiery umbrella appeared in her left hand. "An umbrella?! Dearest me, this is a nice umbrella! Oh, hold up, I hear... the cry of a fair maiden. Drenched in rain, oh no!", the spirit taunted. "You gonna kill me for this umbrella, Dominic? HUH?! YOU GONNA KILL ME, DOM?!
The spirit burst into laughter, her voice full of malice.
