I think another major issue is with how jury should be selected.

We're still not past the racist stages, and in such a heated political climate, there should be a better screening for jurors that takes racial mixture into account.

Being a History major and having seen and experienced racism first hand because of my immigrant status I can say I am not surprised to learn this.

It's sorta why I was musing the other day as well that perhaps I will never belong to America, because I don't think in such a racial way myself, whereas the rest of America clearly does.

I feel like there might have been a procedural error, given the fact that with the available evidence in the case it should have at least gone past the GJ.

Oh I saw your defense. My question is, and I hope you can provide an answer since it probably got lost on G&D, is it procedurally correct for the defense to testify at a Grand Jury trial? I haven't heard of it myself.

yes, the defense is always offered the opportunity, they just never take it, because what is testified to in a grand jury can be used against the defendant in the trial

They can pretty much ask you anything, right? As in, you don't have the recourse of not incriminating yourself or something similar.

you can always take the 5th, but if you answer a question sort of related it can be considered waving your right to the 5th to the question you dont want to answer.
