The practical - and still dramatically fancy - approach would be showing them employ guerrilla tactics, lead the droids into swamps and ambush them. But then, I suppose it'd feel like an Ewok rehash.

The practical - and still dramatically fancy - approach would be showing them employ guerrilla tactics, lead the droids into swamps and ambush them. But then, I suppose it'd feel like an Ewok rehash.

Also there is this thing about an underwater kingdom suddenly mobilizing a whole bloody army and bringing the whole belligerent group effort on dry land. Logic dictates that an amphibious civilization with all their major settlements existing on the bottom of the sea (or lakes) would be more efficient in underwater combat.

That part's more understandable - their purpose was to draw a ground army away from the city.

Also I'm pretty sure they're capable of generating EMPs in the Star Wars universe. Those droid armies didn't look spectacularly EMP-resistent.

Let's be real.

Star Wars warfare is hugely impractical.

I mean, seriously? Massive-scale conventional wars? That's a step back into 3000BCE - 500AD, when the wars lasted around ten years.

I'd expect most of the warfare in Star Wars to be conducted with either COIN operations, or through absolutely colossal ships like The Executor with WMDs, wiping away the topography of worlds.

Tie Interceptor.

Two fighters that completely outclassed everything those rebels could throw at them.

Hell, if you read the comics and the EU and the like, there's quite a few exceptional pilots in the Imperial Navy.

Audiences in the late 70s wanted to see their heroes destroy the bad guys.
