"You know, there's something about the European colonization of the Americas, Africa, and Asia I have personally wondered about: what if the roles were reversed? Regardless of how thst would occur, you would have the Aztecs and Incas encroaching in Western Europe, the Chinese establishing colonies on the west coast of North America had they not went into isolation, and you would have the people today lamenting on the legacy and barbarism of the brutal treatment of the noble European natives at the hands of the brutal and imperialistic Central Americans and the native Africans and Americans who were exploited by Asian imperialism."

"Aztecs in Europe... That would've been absolutely hilarious. The mighty armies of the Aztecs would've landed, maybe kick some ass, then die in the droves as European diseases tear their legions to shreds. Reminds me of what happened to Athens during their war with Sparta, that massive trade empire of theirs likely brought in the plague that killed pretty much half of the city. Real funny that was."

"Actually... The Communists had the exact same effect on Eastern Europe as the colonization of the Americas had on the natives. The lands were very modernized, economically speaking, while millions and millions died. So, one can argue that the results of both were 'good,' by the standards you two are using. Hail modernization!"

"My brother gave us something we had never experienced before, he gave us the right to think for ourselves, without asking permission of some boy first. He gave us the right to move, and that may not seem like much to the people who detract him, but to us that was the world. James gave us something no Emperor or Sorcerer had ever given us, He led us to Freedom, a freedom that I pray we never come to take for granted, for the sacrifice to achieve it was far too high for us to become complacent, and it would dishonor not only his memory but the memories of every single Alisonian who laid down their lives for us to reach this day, that we may celebrate the life of their greatest leader." - Edward C. Patterson (deceased), Esto-Alisonian Revolutionary, Statesman and Diplomat, delivering a eulogy, 1961

"You are in favour of 'privatizing' this democratically-owned business? What's there to 'privatize' about it? It's not owned by the government, it's owned by the workers. Oh, I see, you mean that it should be reverted back to the old model where the one man at the top receives all the money for the work of others and can order them around. Sorry, but no. You will see nothing of that sort happening in this country. What is it you dislike about it? Is it the fact that every man in the workplace now has representation? The fact that working conditions are better because of it? The fact that there isn't some fat man calling himself the CEO who gobbles up the pay that it rightfully others' for work that he did not do? The fact that, because the workers are producing the goods for themselves, they are of superior quality? The fact that because the workers won't screw themselves over for a little extra profit, indeed because of that self-interest you so worship, the amount of regulations is much lower?

If you want to start a privately-owned business in that sense of the word, then I'm (not) sorry, but you know what is impossible in this country. Nobody will work for you; you'll have to stay a one-man initiative. Nobody will work for you because everybody has seen that the worker cooperatives are better for them. If you want to exploit others, then go to the middle east and start a factory where you horribly mstreat your workers, but this country will have nothing to do with you."

--- Cornelia Falx, elected-director of the Buenos Aires Shipworks in the South American Socialist Federation

"Those who preach complete freedom at any cost are just as deluded as those that preach complete security at any cost. There must, in any civilized society, be a good amount of compromise between the two."
