We really don't need a Mandela Day.

That'd be like Germany celebrating a Robespierre day, or India celebrating Ho Chi Minh day.

How about Tolerance Day? Or we could build a memorial to Mandela in Leishaagen.

Are you implying something?

IDC. What about "Important People" day. Kill hundreds of birds with one stone.

Well, the EU does have a Hitler-Stalin Day.

I was saying that we could rename Mandela Day to "Tolerance" or "Equality" Day, if you wanted a different name.

I am sad about President Mandela's death. But I'm happy all the same that his nation is rejoicing peacefully about his life, together.
I motion that we express approval for that action of the South African people by motion, and that we build a monument to him in Leishaagen.
The United Colonies of Earth exists:
to bring about the settlement of all planets not yet inhabited by a sapient species within this Galaxy and Universe by the Human Race, or all members of the species Homo sapiens;
to ensure the observation and protection of the rights of all human beings;
to defend humankind from invasion, catastrophe, fraud and violence;
to represent the interests of humankind to the other governments of the Galaxy;
to facilitate the perpetuation of the unity of human civilization and infrastructure between otherwise self-governing colonies;
and to promote technological advancement and scientific discovery for the perpetuation and expansion of the unity and empowerment of all human beings.

Approval would be expressed upon the passage of the National Mandela Day Act, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the president should make a public statement, so I second the motion.

Alright. Write it up as "Tolerance Day"

(I oppose equality day for obvious reasons).

This then?

That's not the European Union, and it still isn't "Victims of Capitalism Day".

Doesn't celebrate all the victims of capitalism then. Just a small minority.

The European Union celebrates that day, because every single one of its member-states do.

That's the point I submit.
