People brought over 5 different ones for Thanksgiving dinner, and I can't eat any of them because "colour".

Care to explain that?

I can't eat artificial colouring. It is one of the likely allergens. They also won't specify what kind of colouring they use. In some cases they simply go "Colour" as if that helped a fuck load to someone trying to avoid specific types.

For a second there, I forgot you Canadians have to be weird and not celebrate Thanksgiving in November. Also, what exactly are these desserts, and why does their color matter?

Yeah, that's cause the pumpkins are all frozen mush by November. There's black forest cake, some other chocolate cake, a chocolate trifle, donut holes, and pumpkin pie. And I can eat none, because I must avoid artificial colouring.

I got out of three years ago. Promotions aren't really quick in Finnish army reserves and given that I was discharged as private my current promotion cap is at corporal.
