Isn't that boxing?

I also consider Boxing a sport because it does require the person to be in shape and to be able to take physical punishment.

Boxing is a sport. It requires a lot of athletic ability to be a good boxer, unlike a NASCAR driver.

Now you're just beating a dead horse. Several posters on this thread (including myself) has proven how NASCAR (and other forms of motorsport) is a sport, and you're just ignoring all of that so you won't have to admit you're wrong.

There's a reason you don't see fat drivers in any form of motorsports.

There have been several posters debating both sides of this arguement. Doesn't make either side more correct than the other.

Is this the right room for an argument?

Boxing also has a little bit more of "punching back" involved. Hence the "exertion" part.

Hardly. Merely hadn't noticed. The only motor sport that at all interests me is motorcycle racing. It seems to require the most skill of them.

The Divine Imperium wrote: "A sport is an organized, competitive, entertaining, and skillful activity requiring commitment, strategy, and fair play, in which a winner can be defined by objective means."
Plenty of sports aren't organised (Parcour comes to mind), and plenty of them aren't competitive, either (Mountain climbing comes to mind). Entertainment does, obviously, lie in the eyes of the beholder. Commitment... Well, yeah, but it's a staggeringly minimalistic point, strategy is debatable to the extend it is used, fair play, well... Breaking it doesn't make something not a sport (Otherwise every sport requiring referees ever isn't), and as mentioned before under competitive... There's plenty of activities generally counted under 'Sports' that don't have winners.

I don't think a clear-cut definition is possible, it's much fuzzier than that.

A good showcase for the problem would be professional wrestling. It's very clearly not a competition - results are predetermined. It's simply a low-brow show. Entertainment for the masses. This frequently leads to many, many people calling it 'Not a sport'.

BUT professional wrestling requires immense athletic and acrobatic skill, stamnia and so on. Those guys, although picking a non-competitive arena to earn their money, have repeatedly shown their ability to be competitive in honest-to-god competitive sports, too (Freestyle- and Greko-Roman wrestling college champions going to professional wrestling, MMAlers switching to pro wrestling and back - Ken Shamrock and Brock Lesnar being the best-known, but far from the only ones - and so on). And last but not least, the risk of injury in pro wrestling is thoroughly ludicrous. Those guys' average lifespans aren't fun. These are all very good reasons to consider it a sport - not a competitive sport, but certainly a sport, in the same sense I consider parcour, mountain climbing and similar things sports. Hell, when one considers the injury risks involved, it's way the fuck up there on the 'Extreme' scale.

So in reality, you've competitive sports. You've non-competitive sports. You've disorganised activities that are pretty much every man for himself, and you've teamsports. You've sports with tournaments and without. You've sports that require more physical activity, and you've sports that require less physis, but a lot more in the way of, say, reaction (Motoracing comes to mind).

Somewhere at the edge of the 'Sports' part of a Venn Diagram featuring hobbies, sports, and jobs, there's chess. It's pretty far out there for a sport, in the fuzziest realms of the intermediate area between sports in particular and hobbies in general, quite possibly, even likely more inside the 'Hobby' part of the whole thing... But a few of the greater sports' realm's tendrils still reach it, touch it, caress and fondle it, a tendril slipping under chess' skirt and beckoning it to come a little bit closer... (Which it does, in the form of chess boxing).

Yet all of your arguments could be included for a video game. You have not shown any physical capabilities that the drivers must have. Yes there is a winner and yes people need to have attention to detail but so do the betters of the race and the people staying at home playing guitar hero.
