How 'bout anyone can vote?

Just like, a suggestion.

I don't see why a similar system could not be adopted for modern times, nor why such a system could be incompatible with democracy if some people so insist on retaining it. In the very least, it would ensure that the masses of stupid politically-illiterate voters cannot elect unqualified individuals into office.

But there is a modern day equivalent. It's called Her Majesty's Civil Service. The exams were for selecting bureaucrats not governors. The Imperial exams mostly focused on knowledge of literary classics, not the practical aspects of administration. And once employed a bureaucrat still needed connections to advance, so nepotism and bribery was still an issue.

Alternative:

Instead of voting for a person, let the computer present a little quiz with "what is your stance on..."; and then offer the answers the participating politicians gave - without mentioning who said what so that people are not swayed by a person or party name but by his or her arguments. After 15 or so questions, the party whose viewpoints correspond the most with that of the voter gets the vote.

The results might be interesting.

I don't see the problem with lowering the voting age to say 16, as politicians usually speak in single digit reading ages anyway.

I've said it before I'll say it again, stuff like this is going to go mainstream very soon. Of course, had they bothered looking the various provocative people who'll be doing this will find out many, many before them have said exactly the same things and proposed exactly the same solutions. But thus is the sacrifice we who are ahead of the world-spirit must make. Expect to see a flurry of these books go mainstream as the Left learns to embrace anti-democratic thought, and if the Left is embracing it, it will be mainstream, the only relevant Right has already reached this level. The paradigm is turning and then the whole world will know I was right.

We don't allow people with refuced intelligence to vote. It's called non mentis compis.
That is the legal and medical definition of limited intellect. If we start saying that "stupid" people should not vote, then we need a legal definition of stupid. That starts a whole slippery slope argument about what intelligence is required to vote.

(Also, I changed dumb to stupid, because the legal definition of dumb is, "can't speak.")

While I happen to agree with your opinion of Trump, there are a great many folks who think very similarly terrible things about Hillary. So who decides who's dumb without any trace of bias?

Me. I'm unbiased, and I decree only libertarians be smart enough to vote!

No, those aren't objective measures of intelligence. Reprehensible attitudes and beliefs don't make someone unintelligent or dumb. Just a shitty person. ;)

By that logic if dumb people weren't allowed to vote Hillary Clinton wouldn't be running for president and far left liberalism would be dead. The rise of Trump was caused by dumb politicians not listening whom people still insist on electing because of fear of Trump. America deserves its current situation because they brought it on themselves.

So, anyone who doesn't agree with your worldview is an idiot? Okay then.

See, this is the problem. As soon as you try defining idiot, you get definitions with the intent on limiting political views.

It's super fascinating to see so much backlash against requiring a license to vote.

Because such measures never were, are not currently and will never again be used to exclude people from voting based along ideological lines.

Nope. No chance. Nah.

Who is "dumb"? What constitutes "dumb"? Who decides this? Who falls on which side? How do you justify it?
